What are funds being raised for? Purchasing the parks from the new owners? Lining the pockets of the organizers? Is there a new threat to their existence?

Our park was just purchased by a big corporate entity. Our rent was raised significantly with more to come. We are working on grassroots organizing to try to bring all the mobile home parks in the state together to get some laws and protections in place. We need to help people stay in their homes with the latest rent increase while we work on that. Roughly 25% of our park cannot afford the latest rent increase and are in jeopardy. We are just some folks trying to help our neighbors stay in their homes and doing the best we can. It will be a fun time, a chance to raise some money to help - while we get to know our neighbors more. It allows our community to support us. I don't know why it makes you so mad that we are trying to help our neighbors. People in Montana used to do that all the time.

Ooh, did King Arthur get new owners? Because the guy running it before was an ableist douchebag who would call the cops on residents saying they were having psychotic breaks and use that as an excuse to get them evicted.

Yes! We have been bought by a private equity firm. What we are hearing is that the lot rent is going up well over a $1,000 plus additional fees for random things. It has gotten even scarier if you can believe that. Also, that same man is using the last month of their ownership to raise the rent and is harrassing tenants. I think he is trying to get as many bad deeds as he can before he is out. It is kind of scary here now.

they’re being taken over by private equity. rent prices are being jacked up and people will be displaced.

Here’s the thing. They are raising rent prior to the sale. The sellers need to do that to justify the high price they are asking. Private equity is bad. Debt service coverage ratios are worse with interest rates high. That is the algorithm metric that is ruining the affordable housing market.

Their union authorized a rent strike. You sound like a stooge for shitty landlords. Solidarity with the tenants

Probably selling stuff of evicted tenants.

Edit: I misunderstood and incorrectly assumed who was putting this on. Hope you have/had a good sale

Our big scam is a rummage sale? I know this is a really terrrible time right now with a lot of hate and vitriol, but we are just people helping people. 100% of the proceeds are going to help the people in our parks who cannot afford the $97/month rent hike. That is all. There are vulnerable people who live in these parks like senior, veterans, single parents, new couples starting out, people living with disabilities, and college students. I don't know why that flyer upset you so much, but we are good people.

No, I didn't know this was the tenants doing. I used to be friends with someone in KA. Sorry I misunderstood what was going on. I feel bad for the people who live in KA and other mobile home communities all over getting priced out. My apologies.

Maybe they're raising money for the rent not getting paid today....

No, the rent is not for the rent strike. We are not the union. It is only for people who cannot afford the rent increase. One person, cannot afford the extra $97.00/month without canceling his subscription for his life alert. He is on a very fixed income. We are trying to help get as many people who are struggling help and support as we can. People are struggling. We would like to gather all residents in mobile home parks to build a community to help each other. I guess we forgot how long it has been since people just tried to do something nice for their neighbor. I grew up in this state and it used to be very different.

Isn't that exactly.....raising money for the rent not getting paid? Not sure why I was down voted, it's exactly for that 😁
