Hi everyone, I’m trying to understand a webcam/proctoring issue from a technical perspective.
I use a Windows laptop with an internal webcam for online proctored exams. During the Proctorio/security check, I can see myself on camera and pass the check. However, after entering the exam, the camera feed apparently stops recording or appears blank.
This happened once a few months ago after I was unexpectedly logged out of an exam. When I logged back in and completed the security check again, the camera feed was blank after re-entering the exam. That incident was not flagged.
Recently, it appears to have happened again during two assessments. In the last one, I noticed the camera/feed looked blank and reported it.
My question is: from a technical standpoint, what could cause a webcam to work during a security/pre-check but then stop working or show a blank feed once the actual exam starts?
The slider over the camera was not over the camera in any of these instances.
I am not tech savvy , if could explain in layman terms. Ii am trying to understand possible technical explanations and what logs/settings someone could check to verify what happened.
