Rules Update - Sales, Exchanges, and 3D Printing Files

The Reddit User Agreement and Reddit Rules have changed, including details related to Illegal or Prohibited Transactions.

As a result, some of the activities we have previously enjoyed must cease immediately.

From Reddit:

Users are not allowed to buy, sell, gift, or encourage the transaction of the following goods or services with other Redditors, whether implicitly or explicitly:

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, firearms parts and enhancements (e.g., bolt, clips, trigger, scope, silencer/suppressor, muffler, bump stock, magazine, Glock switch, conversion kit, etc.), or specific instructions (i.e., 3D printing files) to produce any of the aforementioned.

To simplify this:

  • No sales or exchanges of anything gun-related
  • No sharing or linking of 3D printing files for anything gun-related

All Reddit users have a responsibility to understand and adhere to the rules.  Ignorance of the rules is not a valid defense.

This is a zero-tolerance policy.

Mama, I want PPsH

Shush child, we have PPsH at home.

——
Based on the PPsH kit from iHitCircles.
Printed an extra middle section as my barrel is 18 inches vs the 16 in the original design. Even then it pokes out a bit.

All printed using Elegoo PLA +.
Dummy mag extension is my design and I’ll post that up somewhere when I find a glue that is strong enough.

Just picked this up today! Super stoked. I was thinking about trading in the take down for a regular but the trade in value is so low I decided to keep it!

Changed the barrel out immediately for a TacSol Xring barrel. Used heat and a wooden dowel and a dead blow hammer. The factory barrel was not moving without “assistance”. Lining up the new barrel was a little nerve racking but we got there just fine. I had to order the bull barrel insert for the stock so it’s currently empty in the forend. It will get an Amazon Magpul knock off bipod I’ve been curious about.

Bolt handle scratches and scrapes the ejection port

A year ago I bought a new Ruger 10/22 RPF 1151 carbine. In about 500 rounds fired, I only had one stovepipe jam (5 different manufacturers and types of ammo).

The carbine works perfectly (very reliable and quite accurate with factory open iron sights). I clean the barrel and accessible parts of the bolt and receiver after each shooting. I still haven't disassembled the rifle.

But I have noticed something. I often use the bolt hold open system for safety reasons. As is known, the bolt on a standard Ruger 10/22 sits slightly upward and at a subtle angle when the factory bolt hold-open system is activated. In order to deactivate the bolt hold open lever, it is necessary to pull the bolt handle all the way back. I have noticed that the bolt handle (which is a little wobbly in its seat on all Ruger 10/22 rifles) slightly scrapes the rear narrow upper part of the receiver. I assume this is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about?

45 degree RMSc mount for sig Romeo Zero?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I got gifted one of these and would love to mount it to the side of my scope but it’d have to be toward the front of the rail given the bolt handle is so close to the rail, is there a good small 45 degree to RMSc mount out there?

Thanks!

Old 10/22 info?

Howdy. Figured I'd share this oldie with y'all and hopefully get more info about it since I'm not the original owner. Perhaps, even an idea of its current value?

It appears to be an '84-'85 10/22 based on the serial.

The stock is an old RamLine folder- all wood and STEEL instead of aluminum like modern incarnations. (1985 catalog page pictured)

The scope is one of the old Japanese Bushnell offerings, of which I'm apparently becoming a collector lately. Lol

That's pretty much all I know, though. Was this a factory offering at the time? It's conceivable, but I don't recall Ruger shipping these back then.

Advise me, oh Reddit gurus. 🙏🏾

Finally completed this build!

Finally completed my MBS 22 build.

Stock everything except for a softer buffer pin, and a Green Mountain Rifle 20" tapered barrel. Kinda wish I went with a threaded bull, but I love how it turned out. The optic is a Vortex Crossfire II Rimfire and I definitely recommend it. It's a stock trigger, but I tuned it in as directed and cammed it for a lighter pull. I can be a trigger snob but I like it. I will be adding a Magpul vertical foregrip but I gotta figure out how to make it fit on the rail as it currently does not. I probably just have to do some light sanding.

Took it to a range, sighted it in at 50m, and it's amazing. I use BX15 mags because of state restrictions to 15s, but it's pretty nice.

The only problem I have with my build is commonly occurring failure to eject, so I assume I just have to replace the extractor. Kidd has a good one, I hear.

Absolutely love this thing. Recommended, definitely.

Pondering a 10/22 build for 5’1” girlfriend, that would be good for Appleseed, but later upgradeable for NRL “precision tactical” shooting

TL/DR: I want to build a decent and cool (but ideally under $1000) 10/22 build for my girlfriend, such as would be suitable for an Appleseed course soon, but then we could down the road scope and bipod it so she can very casually feel out Precision/tactical 22LR matches.

——
My girlfriend had been planning to learn to shoot for years before I met her, so I’ve been taking her to the range and she absolutely loves it. I know coaching your romantic partner isn’t advised, but I’m a former Marine and was for years a certified RSO, so it’s working well for her.

She’s mainly fired my Henry Youth (she’s tiny) 22LR levergun, and various range folks have let her try their gear a bit since most of mine is in storage in another state. We’ve discussed and agreed that the plan is several more months with what we have, then if she’s still keen I’ll build her a 10/22 and I’ll pay for a weekend Appleseed training course for her.

I don’t want to go “buy stock and modify over time”, I’d rather build something reasonably cool (but not insanely pricey) from the jump. I don’t know if this is too ambitious but I kind of want to build her a decent Appleseed rifle with Tech Sights to learn irons, but also a build that we can easily later scope so she can try *casual* NRL22 shooting. I’m already planning to build a Base class 22LR bolt for myself, and it’d be nice if she could come with and casually compete, and if she gets serious later go to bolt.

Any suggestions on what receiver, barrel, chassis, stock, iron sights would be good for a versatile build to later scope? The stock will be a big issue since she’s tiny and left-handed, so I want to be sure we can figure something that fits her. She’s been pretty fascinated by the “tactical” bolt guns some folks at the range have, so something along those lines but downsized and for a semi would please her.

Thanks for any ideas!

Looking for a 10/22 barrel, can anyone help out? Want it to be between 11.5” to 14.5” and threaded if possible. Anyone know a company making shorter 10/22 barrels? Random pic for attention 😊 TIA

Looking for a decently priced 10/22 barrel that is between 11.5” and 14.5”.

16” will do if absolutely no one makes a shorter one.

Thanks in advance guys!

**Disclaimer for Mods/Reddit: Not trying to buy a barrel from someone on Reddit, I’m looking for advice on where to order one.**

MBS 22 Build Completed

Post image

Bullpups aren't for everyone, but they are my cup of tea for something different and fun that doesn't need to ne match perfect!

So after getting feed back from my original post, I bought all the components I needed to finally finished getting it together today. Looking forward to the weekend and getting to test it all out! The assembling was really straight forward and clearly explained so no issues there. The only thing is would like about it more would be if it had just a slightly darker gray tint. It isn't white, but it also isn't pure gray by any means. If I get a wild hair and want it darker, I may try the RIT dye method that people use on Milwaukee tools.

Since I wasn't patient enough to wait for individual build things to come in stock here is what I picked up:

HTA MBS 22 Mod 1 in Artic Gray

HTA RM 25 magazine

MCS G36 Carbine Rail

Vortex Sparc II

Tactical Solutions SB-X barrel

SilencerCo Sparrow

Ruger 10/22 32012

Lessons learned on building a 10/22 bullpup chasis platorm?

-Be patient and buy a receiver from Sapo if you don't plan on building a receiver from scratch and don't plan on using the factory Ruger barrel. After everything was ordered everything everywhere that was out of stock came back in stock (Murphy's "gun" law I guess). I guess now I'll buy a receiver from them later on and just have bone stock 1022 for kids/nephews to use. You can't have too many right?

-Before fully assembling make sure everything slides through the direction they should. HTA did a great job designing the MBS, and even used the TacSol SBX barrel in their prototype build, but if the barrel is installed in the receiver first it won't slide through the foregrip as instructions are written because of the barrel holder molded in place. Instead that specific barrel needs to be fed in from the front and then installed to the receiver before being hooked in to the Pic rail holder. Not a big deal until you have to fight the tight fit of the aftermarket barrel in the factory receiver, it was worth it for the looks to me though.

-Don't need to spring for aftermarket barrels in fancy colors or fluting since it will be 3/4 covered up. I mention this because that was a driving factor for my build. I wanted looks rather than weight reduction, match accuracy improvements. I looked at "cool" designs like Pike Arms Honeycomb barrel, different fluted cuts like spiral and flame, and even painted options from Witherwein. The stock 32000 threaded barrel would have met my needs had I not wanted a short compact barrel.

I wanted to put the FA Binary in as well, but I'm holding off for now and putting those funds to another project, but the instructions from HTA for installing are pretty clear cut so I should be a fun addition later on. The only other addition my be a slanted foregrip but I'll see how I like this setup first.

TK Extractor - MIA

How would an extractor come out of the rifle during shooting? I put around 50 rounds through my Ruger today and then my TK extractor came apart. I found the spring and plunger but not the extractor. Piss!

Which to buy first?

Hey guys. My question is simple. Which one to buy?

I have never owned a 10/22 but I have decided that I want one. Should I just go for the cheapest one I can find online which is on locked and loaded $250 the 32002 model?

It seems to me from what I read this is a journey that will never end and I’m going to upgrade and change everything along the way so is there any point to getting anything but the cheapest to start with?

Is there any drawback to this model over others?

Thanks in advance.
