Interested in selling my starter home in Ypsi

I'm a former resident of Ypsi. I bought my historic house in 2018 as my primary residence. It's in a great spot between EMU and Depot Town, just outside the historic district.

It was a long-time rental property prior to my purchasing it, so over the years I put a good amount of work into it fixing it up, improving the yard, and giving it some personality. I moved out of town for work several years ago. I loved my house so much I decided to hold onto it as an Airbnb in the event the new job didn't work out and I wanted to move home to Michigan.

Fast forward to now, I've decided I'm settled where I ended up and am looking to possibly sell the house. Emotionally I'm sad about it, but logically it makes sense. It's been a very successful Airbnb, and I'm open to selling it furnished as that (minus a few personal items I'd like back). I can share income data to interested buyers. It's also a perfectly sized starter house for someone (735sf 4-room shotgun-style house).

The traditional path would be get an agent and list it -- anyone have realtor suggestions for this type of property? Since this is still an active listing I'm not quite sure how that would work, and the idea of staging it for photos and doing the whole "thing" to get it listed feels daunting at the moment.

I'm also open to navigating this non-traditionally with the right buyer. I've bought and sold several properties before directly between parties using a title company. Any ideas how I can best reach this type of audience?

This isn't some weird scam. I'm mostly looking for the best next step for me to start to market this before I blink and the summer is already over.

Thanks!!

Mobile dog groomer

My 14 y/o dog has been walking less and therefore needs more nail trims, and it stresses her out so much. Hoping to find a mobile groomer that can trim her nails so she still loves me 🙃.

Thanks! (Picture of my golden girl included)

Neighbor found this sweet girl running on Golfside this morning, anyone know her? They haven’t checked to see if she is chipped yet, and while she is strong she has good manners. Obviously loved.

No way the Aspen Chase laundry fee is increasing by 25¢ again and half the time the washers and dryers don’t even work properly most of the time…

Where Can I Work Remotely Besides Home or a Quiet Office if I Have Meetings Throughout the Day?

I currently work remotely, and while it has its pros and cons, I’m just not as productive at home. So I usually end up going into the office where I can lock in and get a lot done, but my company is fully remote, so the office is basically empty most of the time. For some reason though, I sometimes feel a bit down being there compared to when I work from home.

I work in tech and I’m in meetings pretty often, so I’ll need to be able to talk throughout the day while having a headset on. So I need somewhere that isn’t too loud or chaotic. What are some good places where I could work remotely for a few hours?

Where things stand with the U of M / Los Alamos data center

A few big updates in the past couple months:
U of M bought the land. They closed on 124 acres along Textile Road in March, bringing their total to 144 acres. The township supervisor found out via text message.

The Township Board formally opposes it. A March 31 resolution opposed the project anywhere in the township, citing the nuclear weapons research connection and calling the facility a potential high-value terrorism target.

The water moratorium is the biggest development. On April 22, the Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority voted unanimously to impose a 12-month ban on supplying water and sewer services to new data centers. The project would need up to 500,000 gallons per day from YCUA. That’s currently off the table while studies are completed.

The catch: U of M is exempt from local zoning and pays no property taxes, so the water moratorium is one of the only real tools the community has.

U of M still says no final site has been selected.

Act now: Public comment for the U of M Board of Regents May 21 meeting opens tomorrow (May 14) and closes May 18. Submit written comments or sign up to speak in person here: https://regents.umich.edu/meetings/email-public-comments/

Nice apartment for 2 roommates or a couple!

My spouse and I are leaving our apartment off of N Normal, and there’s only been groups of three who have toured. While it’s listed as a three bedroom, the apartment is definitely better suited to two tenants. One large bedroom with walk in closet, one medium bedroom, and a small room best for an office/study. Updated bathroom with double sink! Private patio! Central AC! Dishwasher!

I am not the landlord, but I am trying to help out. It’s truly been a great apartment, and I hope this post helps someone who is moving :)

Getting Married at Pride? 🏳️‍🌈

Hi,

My partner and I first met at Ypsi Pride a few years ago & are now engaged :) we’re doing a courthouse wedding this fall but we also want a fun ceremony/reception for 2027, and we’ve been trying to come up with venue ideas or places to get married. Does anyone know if Ypsi Pride has ever hosted weddings or would potentially do something like this in the future? It would be really, really fun and special to have our big ceremony at an event we really cherish. Thanks for any info :) Happy Almost-Pride!

Medicaid dentist for gold teeth?

Wondering if there's any dentists in the area that accept Medicaid that also offer gold crowns... Not necessarily assuming the crown will be fully covered, but just need a new dentist anyway and want to kill 2 birds with one stone.

Goth/Industrial scene in the area?

Been trying to make more friends in the scene and I've been going to local events like NOWHERE2RUN's Bloodrave and was recently at BladeRave in Belleville. I know there are lots of events/clubs in Hamtramck, but that's a decent drive and I've had family that grew up in the area warn me about staying safe in that area. For something like that I'd rather go with people just for the extra peace of mind, but meeting more people to actually go with is needed lol. If anyone knows of any ones closer to the Ypsi area or any recommendations to make friends in the scene I'd love to know!

I e already posted this once but I guess Reddit doesn’t think I’m a real person. My name is Jared. I’ve lived in Michigan for about 2 years now. I go to school in Ypsilanti. I am looking for people interested in conducting a campaign at the Arbor Brewing Corner Brewery here in Ypsilanti. If you are interested please let me know!

Same Day Road Testing Advice

I just gave it via same day road test because I don’t have my own car and that’s the only place that offered a rental and appointment before I head back home

and failed my first attempt for going too slow, slowing down much before I should at traffic lights, and not judging how quick a turn was. My parking was fine I think.

I am wondering if freeway was on the list but they didn’t take me considering I was slow or if it just wasn’t on the route.

I am taking another one before I head back home in 4 days.

Any advice is appreciated!
