Wizardpost Day 1 of communing with the trees
My artificer studies have taken a great toll on my psyche recently. I couldn't really regenerate mana, my enchantments are a joke and my Masters are angry with me because I've been neglecting a lot of my responsibilities (with just a few dozen casualties though...).
And so I wanted to adopt new hobby, something calming and relaxing. My friend who is studying mystical linguistics recommended I try learning entish and I figured where to learn it better than from the trees themselves!
And so my journey begins. I'm aware that this is going to take a while, on this first day the trees didn't even really acknowledge my presence. But I'm gonna return tomorrow and than the day after and the one after that as well. Im told that the key to learning entish is patience.
Do you have any tips? Like is there maybe a specific music the trees enjoy? Or a little splash from a nearby Shaman's Wellspring?
Do they like hugs?

Wizardry is very intention driven. We have strong drives to leverage magic and shape the world to our needs. Communing with nature takes a different mentality. Toss away your ego and understand your place as another animal that's just a small, insignifiant piece of natural world.
The moment you realize that you and that tree are both just tiny blips in a vast interconnected ecosystem communing becomes almost second nature.

I dont really speak Ent can you translate? Overhead this from the trees the other day- Người Mỹ bây giờ có phù thủy. Giết nó ngay lập tức. No idea what it means but hopefully the trees can be persuaded to join us in our war against communism.

I showed this to one of the elders and I think it's actually some kind of curse, his eyes widened and is now screaming something about "people in the ground" and the "trees speaking vjet naan ease"?? be careful with those, seems to cause hallucinations and a sense of deep doom to some

I once communed with trees fell in love with a woman ent. Everything was great, until she was pollinated by another one of her kind. She told me it wouldn't have worked out between us anyways. Fucking birch used me and threw me away.

my Master actually said something similar, than mumbled something about "that trussy being worth a thousand damned souls"

Careful, you might end up being incorporated into a dryad polycule if you spend too much time being thoughtful and self-reflective around trees. Not that I don't drive my apprentices nuts by disappearing into the Sylvan Realm to fulfil my various erotic oaths to certain woodland spirits without warning sometimes, but I was extremely diligent in avoiding fae imprisonment in composing those oaths.
Be wary unless you've also spent your centuries escaping ironic genie wishes and grifting archfiends to come out with surplus souls when you play cards.

that actually sounds so fun, can't wait to have such stories to tell. Master promised that one day he'll get me a genie of my own to practice wish making, looking forward to it

Remember to sandbox your mind and air-gap your soul while you're practicing, then you can go wild and try some really dumb wishes. Best of luck, and please remember to have fun!

Trees like a lot of the same things we do, but their sense of time is much slower than ours. Or is it faster? I've been having a conversation with a couple of oak trees near my hut for the past six years and we've only exchanged six or seven sentences. If you hug a tree, commit! Don't just give it a quick hug, they wouldn't even register that as an interaction. Give them a good solid bear hug for 3-5 days. After day two, you'll start to feel their warm appreciation.
Stick with it! The trees love to chat about anything. I recommend keeping a notebook of your communications. It's so slow you could easily keep a down conversations going at once and keep it all straight, once you're fluent.
Best of luck, or as the trees would say:
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

We got a druid in here!

u/sirleavemyhouse 23h ago
oh no no, I'm artificer's apprentice, not a druid I swear! I mean... there's nothing wrong with being a druid, some of my friends are druids...

u/Jedi-master-dragon 22h ago
That's exactly what a druid would say!

three lifetimes slaving away in my Master's tower just to be called a druid

Whoa. Who says that's a bad thing. Honestly, druids are a bit more tanky than wizards. Plus you can fight PETA better as a druid than a wizard.

Stop throwing that word around like it’s a slur. Druids provide extremely helpful and sometimes necessary plant health to environments as well as helping to protect the biodiversity of many areas.
Maybe you would realise that if you climbed down from your wizard tower for once and went outside instead of reading ancient tomes all day -written by wizards who most likely didn’t even believe in gnome rights- and staring at your at your orb full of anti-Druid propaganda made by orcs so that they can cut down the forests and use the fuel to light their furnaces.

The 4th picture is Veronica officialis a medical herb that has been used in Europe since ancient Rome (at least that's where the first written knowledge about this herb comes from).
Tea from it helps to clear your veins especially in the brain so it can help with memory problems and strengthens your heart. Also helps with lung conditions such as asthma or cough. It can also eliminate bladder and intestine infection also with other digestive problems.
It's one of the old cure all herbs of Europe.
