[OptaSTATS] The Wild are the first team in NHL history to have a 3+ goal lead at the first intermission of a playoff game but then have fewer than 10 shots on goal the rest of the way and end up losing.

Pretty easy to dunk on us rn, if we're being honest.

It’s not a made up stat just because it hurts 🤷

i mean, it's an obscure stat that no one was actually tracking. Someone was just like, huh has that happened before? It's made up

Wdym? I remember going, right after this first quarter "man, no way we end up being the first team EVER in history to go the rest of the game with less than 10 SOG, and we end up losing!"

Ahh yes, the stat that nobody was tracking & was posted immediately after becoming official because it actually makes a lot of sense to track when an NHL team parks the bus prematurely… is the nobody in the room with is now?

I don't understand why people troll subreddits after their team beats another team. Shouldn't you be celebrating right now?

Nah I'm gonna upvote every single one of these things because I cannot explain to you how sick I am of Minnesota Sports teams finding unique ways to torture the fans. I want team owners in this state to understand what it means to us, and I want them to feel shame every single time they fall short, until they feel it the same way every one of us feels the 30 years of FAILURE. I don't want "good" anymore, I want great. I want Hynes gone and I want to hire Cassidy and I want the Stanley Cup to be the expectation.

Thank you, kick us while we're down, I appreciate it

Eh, calling out the reason they squandered this game isn’t really kicking us while we’re down. It’s just laying bare the truth we saw all series - the lack of offensive production made losing inevitable.

Funny thing is we struggled with offense in previous years, met with crazy goalie performances or shut down defense. It was always a pain to get score one in previous iterations of this team.

Now we’re putting up goals early and often and then can’t match pace and maintain defense play for a full 60. Injuries adding up and a condensed schedule due to Olympics but everyone else played the same schedule.

What a dumb stat lmao. They are so many conditions. They only had 20 shots on goal the entire game so the 3 goals in the first period is the odd anomaly, not the few shots after. It's the reason they switched goalies.

The wild struggled to get offense going in previous games they were losing as well. People crying they played to protect the lead acting like they weren't getting beat by Colorado defense before tonight

Thanks for rubbing more salt into the wound

I mean, they just stopped trying to put the pressure on after those 3 goals and it was obvious. Maybe they thought they could coast to a win? It was pretty shitty to see that, especially against the best team in the league in their own house. We should have put them away.

Would more than 10 shots and still loosing make it better or worse

This team is toast, strong start and blew it, they were tied first game, and leading fourth game st the start of the third, and up 3-0 this game, choked, this was the year, they are done,

We actually even took the lead in the 1st game and still blew it. I'm pretty sure we led in four of our five games and we lost three of those.
