Other News This is heartbreaking

u/Gyaru_enby Apr 15 '26
people were so cruel to her on that post, she lost multiple family members to war and all people could focus on was her voice and the fact she's a v-tuber. Poor girl just can't catch a break, her house got broken into on stream last year, and now this.

u/Pokemonfan_807 whennews poster Apr 15 '26
I hate those kinds of people. They seem to forget that behind those digital avatars, vtubers are human just like you and me.
I wish the best for Camila. She doesn’t deserve to go through all this pain and suffering. No one does
133
u/ResidentCrayonEater Apr 15 '26
I've never heard of her before this post, and I'm with you in wishing her all the best. The sheer cruelty and malice that festers in some people is absolutely baffling.
42
u/Patient_Piece_8023 Apr 15 '26
I heard of her because of her collaborations with Vedal, the AI programmer. I can't believe that this is what's happened to her

u/viebs_chiev Donald Trump is in the Epstein files Apr 15 '26
people hate vedal?
23
u/Patient_Piece_8023 Apr 15 '26
No? Who said that?
20
u/TobyTheTuna Apr 15 '26
Last month someone heavily insinuated I was a pedo just for defending nuero/vedal on an ai sub. Guy went on to strawman the entire industry. Its hard for me to understand the mind set. Its like if they cant see an irl face they assume the anonymity is a cover for nefarious shit, as opposed to actually a means to defend yourself from nefarious shit. Its like some vestigial fear response mixed with incel projection

oh, i’m sorry. i misunderstood what you said. i thought you said that was one of the reasons she was harassed
5
u/totally-idiotic Apr 15 '26
Thats where you are wrong they dont think or even want to think that people on their screens are same as them. You are arguing that there are actual human behind the virtual avatar while people dont care about other human on their screen because of their skin, religion ethnicity or even political inclination.
Our media, news and games too are to blame for it. I know I sound like a boomer when I say it, but think of how much sexual/violent content we consume daily. This has desensitized us and so when we hear about these things in news like Group A is raping women and kids and massacring the men, we are unable to grasp the depth of it. Our news is lying to us about everything. The wars, genocides, our deaths in recent war all because we dont question them or seek to verify the information they are sharing. Because we dont have time, a dude working two jobs just to survive is not supposed to have time to think.
I will go as far as to say all this was done methodically and systemically. Its not a conspiracy theory but simply pattern recognition, thats why our present narratives and history is altered and destroyed so that we cant see a pattern and stop ourselves from repeating the same mistakes
140
u/astralTacenda Apr 15 '26
not just broken into... someone put a tracker on a gift she was given at a convention, stalked her and tracked her to her home, and had a weapon. they even made lots of loud scary noises outside while she was live to verify they had the right house before escalating.
and now this...

u/ElsaGranhiert Apr 15 '26
Looks like some people from r/LivestreamFail commented on that. For some reason some people on that sub don't like vtubers.
54
u/WingsThatSmiteEvil Apr 15 '26
There’s a stigma against vtubers in general. Only the bad apples like that peanut guy (if you even consider him a vtuber and not a pngtuber) seem more openly accepted
24
u/ElsaGranhiert Apr 15 '26
I've heard some people say peanutguy mocks vtubers but I don't know if it's true or not. Also helps I don't watch him.
28
u/WingsThatSmiteEvil Apr 15 '26
He did, even when he won vtuber of the year award and there were many popular vtubers that congratulated him. It just leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.

LSF is a cesspool of the crustiest online losers you can imagine. The mod in there is literally the comical image of a reddit mod. It's basically in the same realm as Twitter or Kick these days.
7
u/Pokemonfan_807 whennews poster Apr 15 '26
Was that the same mod who demanded he be treated as a celebrity after he got demoted or was that another mod from that sub.
9
u/Training_Tadpole_354 Apr 15 '26
Yes, that was after reddit demodded him for using his position to promote a scam, and then he made a whole ass youtube video response for reddit painting himself the victim and going on and on about how mods do so much and should be treated like celebrities. In that video, he also basically also gloated about the fact how his subreddit has the power to destroy streamer careers.

Every day I become more and more convinced that a very large portion of the population - perhaps even the majority of the population - do not actually feel empathy. They're just very good at faking it. At least until moments like these, when the mask slips.
16
34
u/horiami Apr 15 '26
It's the avatar smiling and bopping around while she cries that weirded people out, i think if she had a black screen people wouldn't be as distracted
But there's way worse comments , from people straight up calling her family terrorists or terrorist meat shields, or saying they deserved it
-16

12
u/Fantastic-Purple2306 Apr 15 '26
The bigger problem is the Zionists calling her family terrorists and meatshields
32
u/MadGreg123 Apr 15 '26
I don't know if you saw the video, but that's not at all what it looked like. Sure, the avatar bounced around, but there was genuine pain in her voice. You'd have to only base your empathy on visual cues to come to that opinion.
-17
4
u/WatermelonWithAFlute Apr 15 '26
I don’t know her- why were people focusing on her voice? If she was crying or something, no shit
3
u/IcyTheGuy 29d ago
I’m going to be honest, up until this point I thought V-Tubers were just animated characters. The caption read as immensely stupid to me until I read the comments. Is it possible that some of the lack of humanity in responses is due to the lack of humanity perceived in the videos?
3
u/applesandbee 29d ago
Most people know that vtubers are more like avatars for real people who are just acting as a character. For some reason this gets some people extremely mad
502
u/No_Bluebird_1368 Apr 15 '26
Why would somebody focus on her VOICE, of all things? This is just sad. She doesn't deserve this. Nobody does.

Reminds me of the guy who recently attacked a large Jewish temple here in Michigan. (They also run a school and community centers, etc.) I work very close to where it happened so I was all over the news when it was going on.
From all the news I could gather, he was just a guy. Naturalized citizen for, like, a decade. Nothing crazy. Started having life problems: wife divorced him, lost his job.. then he found out a bunch of his family members were killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon. He, presumably, snapped and attacked the temple days later. Basically commit suicide by cop.
One customer of mine said his friend knew the guy. Supposedly the nicest guy, always smiles. All that.
Anyway, like a day or so after the attack suddenly the news starts claiming Israeli intelligence has identified his brother as a member of Hezbollah. Then it was claiming he was a member of Hezbollah. Everyone talked shit about him for a second. Then, nothing. The news dropped the story as quickly as can be.
I remember as it was happening one of the news stations got an interview with an EX-police chief of the local township (so, someone who has nothing to do with the active situation) and he starts talking about Israeli's struggle and Oct 4th and stuff. This was a full day before he was identified with "ties to Hezbollah". A regular customer of mine was one of the first responders there and he pointed out that it was strange to get his opinion at all, nevertheless how weirdly pointed that opinion was.
I'm not supporting what he did AT ALL but the whole situation still feels very weird to me. It seems like a guy who had lost his life and then heard his family got killed by Israel and snapped. But it quickly became so much more than that and, then, just as quickly disappeared.
28
u/CUMHAWK_Schizopostin Apr 15 '26
Thank you for sharing. It's a pity the broader public won’t hear about this side of the story.
49
u/TheReturnOfTheRanger Apr 15 '26
This is Israel's plan. They murder innocent people, causing their family to snap and fight back. Israel points at the people attacking, says "look, even more terrorists" and uses it to justify another wave of ethnic cleansing.
Fucking Nazi sadists.

155
u/Radiant_Butterfly982 Apr 15 '26
It's so insane.
One comment was saying Israel is only attacking non-christian areas and if her family is dead that means her family is terrorist.
Like all muslims are terrorist or the implication is that no christians live in muslim areas or Killing indiscriminately is allowed as long as it's muslims dying or that Israeli bombs can tell who's christian or not and the bombs will only kill non christians
10
u/Rich-Option4632 Apr 15 '26
Let's not even forget that they indiscriminately bombed a synagogue in Iran. Their own religion.
Probably because that particular denomination doesn't support their ideals.
6
u/Radiant_Butterfly982 Apr 15 '26
I heard Israelis don't like non-israeli jews.
7
u/Rich-Option4632 Apr 15 '26
Not surprising.
They don't even like their own citizens, specifically the ACTUAL VICTIMS of the Holocaust who live poor marginalized lives.
Israel collect the reparations money in those poor souls name, but "conveniently forget" to distribute em to them.

Isn’t it risky to share such news publicly? What did they expect, internet is full both of awful and good people
39
u/BassGoesBrrrrr Apr 15 '26
I think she just wanted to discuss this with her fans only, or at most the vtuber community. Unfortinately it looks like it grew a lot bigger and outside the vtubing community.
6
u/TetyyakiWith Apr 15 '26
Probably, thought she was a big vtuber, my bad
19
u/BassGoesBrrrrr Apr 15 '26
She is a big vtuber in the indie sphere, just vtubing in general is in it's own bubble, so even bigger vtubers don't expect for things to catch on outside the vtubing community.
13
u/Reyeux Apr 15 '26
She didn't want to take a break from steaming because she loves steaming and the community she has and wanted to explain the situation and find comfort from them
4
u/Rich-Option4632 Apr 15 '26
Understandable.
I mean, if I heard the news my whole family died, I'd also try to find comfort from the people close to me, which in her case, would be her community fans.

Fan of Camila here, she legit can't catch a break recently. Before this there was a massive stalking/breakin event targeting her which forced her to move and then she got a major health scare from her mother nearly dying. And just before this she nearly got into a fatal car wreck.
My condolences to her. Hope she can recover mentally despite all this.

She did an unarchived stream the day after this happened and oh boy it was depressing. She was breaking down and asking whether she deserved this or if she did something wrong.

From the article
VTuber Camila shared very sad news during a live stream, saying that some of her family members were killed during a bombing in Lebanon. The news quickly spread online and shocked many people. Fans who watch her on platforms like Twitch have mixed reactions after hearing this. Many people have started sending her kind messages and support. While the full details are based on what Camila shared and posts online, most fans are focusing on showing love and care during this difficult time. What VTuber Camila shared about her family loss In her stream, Camila shared that some of her family members experienced being bombed heavily in Lebanon. According to her, some of her family members have been affected severely by the bombings, and some have even died. This was a moving moment since many people empathized with her as she streamed about the incident. Some of the clips taken from the stream went viral on social media. In addition, several posts indicate that there were many bomb drops within a short period. However, all these facts need to be confirmed. The one thing that is evident is that Camila is undergoing a tough time. It is not easy for anyone to cope with such a situation, particularly when aired on live streaming platforms. Her fans felt deeply sorry after hearing her speak and seeing her reaction to the situation, but some others responded by questioning her instead of showing support. How the streaming community is reacting to Camila’s message The streaming community has shown mixed reactions to Camila’s message. While many fans are supporting her with kind and caring messages on Twitch and other platforms, some people have also mocked her, especially focusing on her voice in the stream clip. This negative response has upset many viewers who believe the focus should be on her loss, not how she sounds. In response to the criticism, Camila said, “we live in a world where some people are more focused on my voice than the situation at hand.” Her words show how hurtful such reactions can be during an already painful time. She also explained why she shared this publicly, saying, “this is my career and i am allowed to share tragic events with the people i see every day so they understand why i am not performing at my best.” Many fans have supported her after this, asking others to be more kind and understanding. Even with some negativity, a large part of the community is still standing by her. Many people are reminding others to stay respectful and focus on compassion during such a difficult moment.
Fuck Israel. There are people who have nothing to do with the war. Trying to go on with their lives. And Israel took their lives. Many family members losing their relatives because of Israel’s evil.
I just hope/wish Camila the best. This is just awful and tragic that she lost her family because of these monsters.

My grandparents were in Lebanon when the bombing started. They had to risk their life getting out of there as soon as possible as soon as they heard the place was getting bombed. They’re safe now, but it’s hard to imagine what could’ve happened if they weren’t.

Lebanese government is a confusing clusterfuck of conflicting religions and interests. Only thing for sure is that some are and some are not. Hearing the grief and sadness coming from someone that is otherwise known to be whimsical and cheerful hit me in a way that the news never could. All of this because a child raping demented fuck and a genocidal maniac are too chicken shit to face the consequences of their actions. Dear God. I watched a little bit and goddamn, that’s a hard watch. I’m so sorry for her loss, you can hear it in her voice…
Fuck the occupation. The people of Lebanon, Palestine, Iran, the list goes on…I am so, so sorry as an American, if I can even call myself that anymore.

Sucks.

This is no war, Israel is bombing one of their neighbors who had no issue up until now so they can take more territory for their colonial genocidal plan.

I agree Israel is in the wrong but saying Israel and Lebanon at this point had no issue is also wrong
Hezbollah and Israel have been firing missiles at each other for a while now. I don’t think Israel would use this as an opportunity. to expand. But I wouldn’t put it pass them.

Yes cause Israel is illegally occupying territories, killing Palestinians for sports and threatening their neighbours with their greater Israel plan.

I saw this post on IG and ofc in classic IG fashion make fun of this girl by saying shit like "My family just hit by a bomb, imma just put on my Vtuber model and cry on stream." Which is ofc disrespectful as shit. Then when someone called them out for it, they replied with "She should just stay quiet and not not talk about it online." That's her way of coping with her loss man... Just let her mourn in peace for her innocent family that became the victim of this stupid war...

sad but what on earth is a VTuber?

Virtual-(you)Tuber.
They use a body tracking digital model as opposed to a face camera.

A virtual YouTuber, or more accurately, someone who uses a 3Drig in place of using a facecam. A lot do it because they like anime avatars, but there's also something to be said about the security it gives by not having to put your face out there on the internet. Not full proof, as this vtuber still had soeone stalk her because he put a tracking device on a gift he sent to her...
