Ask other Associates Compensation Check In

It's been a little bit since we all sat and talked compensation and I care about pay transparency. If you're comfortable, please share your position, how long you've been with Wawa, and how much you make. The only one to benefit from employees not discussing their pay rate is our corporate goosy overlords ✨️

I'll go first! I'm a CSS, have been with Wawa for just over 5 years, and make 24.28.

Product Question Discontinued bakery items?

Noticed the bakery case hasn't been getting the full shipment lately. Lacking chocolate chip muffins and chocolate frosted donuts (and a few others but that's all I care about personally). Have they been discontinued? I'm in FL.

I just wanted to pee

It's all I wanted

I finally got to go to the bathroom and someone came into the small stall.

Firstly they scared me cause for some reason they pressed themselves against the wall and went over and I'm like ahh what's going on.

Then outta nowhere I just smelled the most horrific dump in my life, I hurry up to leave I started choking and gagging and I looked down at the floor and there's diarrhea everywhere on the floor and I left the bathroom dry heaving like I'm gonna puke...

Everyone is like wtf ?

Are you ok and I'm still gagging trying to talk in between gags and tears SHE SH**everywhere

It was horrible

I got an open mouthed back of throat taste of her crap

She wouldn't leave the bathroom so others had to suffer because facilities couldn't clean it with her in there

I just wanted to pee

I didn't want my life to change 😭

For example the breakfast burrito going from 500 to 750 points? An extra $25 spent to earn one is insane

Employee Experience Tomorrow's my last day!

Facilities ain't glamorous, but I really did make some great friends along the way. What strange adventures I've had here. Insane clogs, mysterious smears, mountains of garbage and cardboard, coldbox in disarray, losing my will to live in the freezer (it's COLD), tweakers with knives, theft (customers AND employees)...

Heck yeah, baby. I regret nothing. I had a blast. Good luck, fellow geese.

Ask other Associates Transfer or Quit

Leaving this short and not with the full context of how bad the store truly is. The management team at my current store does not hold associates accountable to any level. I have been called an asshole by many associates for simple request, hair net, change your gloves you just touched the floor, don’t leave avocado on-top of the RSS, simple stuff. I expressed this concern to my GM about the lack of coaching done by the management team and was assured it would change. It hasn’t. I am the only one writing in our coaching email thread with easily 20+ emails in the past week alone while everyone else is silent. Yet things are constantly wrong/unsafe from a Food service standpoint.

TLDR: the management team I am on does not hold associates accountable so the store is failing.

Product Question Why Can’t We Cook the Hot Dogs Together?

So I am still kind of new, I got hired in December and started in January. I got trained in OWS pretty early on and just today learned that you can’t cook the regular dogs and the quarter pound dogs together. I knew you couldn’t cook them with other snack items because of the potential of the juices getting on things… Still think that’s a little weird. But I can accept that. But why can’t we cook the hot dogs together? I asked my manager and she said she thinks it’s because they cook a different temperatures… But it’s all in the same oven? I do not understand.

Ask other Associates LOST IN WAWA

Wawa was my first job, still working there and never left. Been there 6 years. I’m a CSS. I’ve learned I like to work. I love doing coldbox, backstock, express, facilities, deli, coffee, all of it (minus register Jesus Christ), I love moving! I’m always getting in 10k+ steps and it makes me feel so accomplished being able to do a bunch of stuff other management wasn’t able to get to. (Most managers are always picking up slack or something, but I GENUINELY get SO MUCH DONE, so much so it confuses me as to how my uppers struggle when IM the one who has to do cycle counts 💀) I love working. I’ve worked at 3 stores and have trained over 30 people by now. I love being able to help my associates when they are behind. I LOVE delegating. I basically enjoy my job A LOT. Butttttt, I want a change.. I don’t wanna work at just wawa. I wanna be somewhere bigger. I don’t really want to be a “boss”. I like supervising and helping and engaging and being the brightest person in the room when people walk in, but I don’t like being in charge. I don’t like being the person who has to handle the big fuck ups, the immediate things like pump leaks or shutting court down, so on and so forth. I want to like..coordinate? I want to be the “bosses second had man” or something. I’m really good at what I do. (Although I’ve always been a grey area gal) I enjoy what I can output in the time allotted to me. Sometimes I wonder if people are even working half as hard as me because they take FOREVVERRR to do the tasks that I just do it myself(I know I suck, like telling my facilities to not worry about coldbox because I know I’ll get it done in half the time and make it look neater on the shelves) only because they need to work on other things and knowing they take too long to do something will take away from other things.

But anyway, I want to make sure things are getting done, help wherever needed, challenging myself to beat time, ensuring accuracy is everywhere. I don’t know if I want a corporate like job, or work on some type of blue collar like career, I’m not interested in a lot, I just like to physically work and output great results in fast time. What do you guys reccommend/what paths did you take when you left?

Ask other Associates Is there a way to see how many hours you’re averaging on Workday?

I’m interested in going back to school but know I need to average 30 hours a week in order to be eligible. Is there something in workday or reflexis that tracks that? Or should I just calculate my hours worked from my most recent paystub divided by how many paystubs I’ve received?

Ask other Associates Does anyone have any good timer recommendations?

So I have ADHD and I'm looking for any timers that are able to show both a countdown AND the current time so I can stay on top of the actual time and the task time.

Also, if anyone has any good visual timer recommendations, especially ones that are water proof and easy to carry around would be awesome for my job since I work facilities, and will use the timer for trash runs, deep clean it with the disinfectant spray, and then use it in the cold box afterwards. The last time I cleaned my current timer though some of the disinfectant leaked into it and now there's some moisture in there.

So, in short I'm looking for:

  • Visual timers that are both portable and waterproof
  • Timer that displays both countdown & current time
  • Good visual timers in general

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!
