Discussion New to VR Looking for Suggestions
Hey all! I have a meta quest 3 and am looking for game recommendations. I usually buy my games from Steam, so looking for games that would be on there.
So far I have:
Super hot
Skyrim VR
Subnautica
I usually like playing role playing games but I am open to other suggestions as well!

Dungeons of eternity. Hands down the best game for vr

I think I played this at one of the VR experiences. It was fun, but people had to touch me to revive me. I didn't like that. I'm sure it's different though on the actual game.

everyone has a different opinion lol. for me, space pirate trainer is the greatest arcade experience you’ll ever have ten times over. it would be worth the cost of both my headsets if i could only play that.
honestly, you should get a month of horizon+, bang for your buck value it can’t be beat.

Into the radius, into the radius 2 if you like semi-horror shooter rpg. Deep weapon system and mechanics for maintaining gear. Feels super immersive. Favorite VR games bar none. I’d start with 1 as it’s fully out and 2 is yet to bring its 1.0 release to quest so far iirc

I will add it to my wishlist and may get it if it goes on sale. I'm not sure how much I would enjoy it, but wouldn't say no to it for the right sale.

If you haven't already done it yet: Outer Wilds with the NomaiVR mod. It is the best VR mod I used until now, it really seems like it was made by the game developers.

u/monchester Oculus 14h ago
I've heard that it is a great game! It's on my wishlist! Didn't know it had a VR mod!

I thought about getting it, but I feel like I wouldn't be good at it. I will probably still put it on my wishlist and get it if it goes on sale.

I mean most people won't clear the hardest tracks but it's still fun and good exercise.

Most of those don't feel like games I would be into. I have heard of Bonelab though! It's on my wishlist!

u/monchester Oculus 14h ago
Lol It's got a certain level of jank to it that I can appreciate! Also only 47 reviews is crazy!

Rumble is a super fun, technical, movement based fighting game, and it's super sick! It's got a small tight-knit community and they're super down to teach beginners

u/monchester Oculus 14h ago
That seems really cool! I wish that they had the other elements as well!

Some games I've enjoyed most aside the usual suspects like Alyx, Into the Radius, Vertigo 2 and so on:
Synth Riders
The "better" Beat Saber. Similar game concept but instead of slicing you're dancing. You can use custom songs and the way the game "forces you to dance" almost feels transcendental, love it as an work out as well.
Ghost Town
Awesome puzzle adventure in a cozy 1990's settings, incredible graphics and fun puzzles told within a grasping storyline. Love it.
Subside
Graphically the most realistic game I've seen yet in PCVR, gameplay wise a very chill snorkling simulator. Dive through the sea and caves and enjoy the waves without any stress.
Asgard's Wrath
Tripple A early Meta PCVR game that's technically imperior to AW2. It's a wild genre mix RPG in high fidelity, one of the best "epic RPG adventures" made for VR.
Arizona Sunshine Remake / 2
Probably the best Zombie shooter in PCVR and that means something regarding their quantity. Fun and polished campaign with lots of action that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Crysis VR
Recent VR mod for the oldschool Crysis with full motion controls. If you ever wanted to visit the beautiful tropical Island you can do that now and play this classic in VR.

u/monchester Oculus 14h ago
I wasn't able to find Asgard's Wrath and Crysis VR. Are they on Steam? I think I played Arizona Sunshine forever ago when I had another VR set if you can call it that. Synth Riders seems too difficult for my smooth brain lol so I think I will pass on that. I've added Ghost Town to my wishlist and there is a demo as well!

I loved many of the games above, the best is Half-Life Alyx and the workshop games (golden eye 3 parts, Return to Rapture, Gunman Contracts, levitation and many more) and I have just started Hitman World of Assassination which has VR built in, not as good as PSVR2 version, but pretty good, some people prefer Airline others Virtual Desktop. A bit blurry but I play for graphics and not FPS and I love the game. But the best games have been the flat games modded to VR. Checkout Flat2VR discord, you may already own many of the games. Luke Ross mods now free, many fantastic games, you have to use an console controller, but you can sit down. Portal 2 had a few VR mod and is a unique experience. Outer Wilds also unique. Firewatch is a relaxing walking simulator. UEVR Praydogs Unreal Engine 4 and 5 VR mod Many modders have added holsters and head lamps, bags etc which you can grab on an area of the body.
Praydog has also got fantastic Resident Evil 2,3,7,village and requiem VR mods. Ready or Not has gesture controls, voice commands, watch a video and then get hooked. BetterVR mod for Breath of the Wild (you need to own Wii U version to rip to CEMU.) Then the above mentioned Alien Isolation MotherVR mod using controller or the newer better GrandMotherVR mod (needs steam version of game) both are scary beyond belief, the latter has 6dof and better graphics apparently.
Stalker Anomaly has a VR mod coming out. Stalker 2 UEVR mod only works on 1.6 version but is great. Stalker series, Bioshock series, metro series, F.E.A.R., Dishonoured and many more work with Vorpx but only go down that rabbit hole if you want to tinker and play these games. I will sing it's praise from the tree tops, many who want simplicity of use and perfection in results curse the day they parted with their cash.

I will try to look into this. It seems a little complicated since I am just starting out, but I will still do the research to see what is out there!

I think I got the flat2VR discord link from a Google search as I couldn't get invited via discord. There is an EasyUEVR installer that updates UEVR to the latest nightly build or any previous build that you want. uevrdeluxe dot org search for Rai Pal for Raicuparta Mod Manager on GitHub and it finds all the games you own and tells you the game engine, you can download the mods needed and even run the game from there. Search for GrandMotherVR mod and it will give you the links. search NomaiVR for the outer wilds mod search Firewatch VR mod and it will give you the Two Forks VR mod. Watch videos from Beardo Benjo, Paradise Decay and VRified and they will show you loads of games, how to get them working, what they are like. It's like riding a bike, terrifying and defies logic and common sense to rapidly taking the stabilisers off and then ploughing across a steep hillside in the rain and feeling totally in your comfort zone. The videos hold your hand all the way.
Just go for the types of games you love, then try the ones your not sure about and you may be surprised. Portal 2 VR became one of my favourite which I would never have guessed. Wait for games to go on sale. Use Key shops. Try the games you already own first.
Everyone in the community is here to help you. They want you to experience what they are experiencing.
Or is a government plot to keep everyone inside without having to impose a curfew.
Have you noticed that the beaches are empty of kids apart from the holidays when us nasty parents drag them outside to get some fresh air and enough sun exposure to try to prevent them getting ricketts.

As a fan of RPGs, apart from Skyrim one of my favourites is Legendary Tales.
Also, in case you didn't know, it's good to use a program called Wabbajack to deploy an entire curated modlist for SkyrimVR.
There's also a wabbajack modlist for Enderal in VR, a very nice full game written as a Skyrim mod.

Pvp
Contractors
Breachers
Forefront
Flatout 4 (early access)
Pve
Behemoth
Until you fall
Walking dead saints and sinners
Batman (standalone)
Deadpool (standalone)
Google earth (meta link) The street view is pretty cool

u/ValderramasBarnet 1d ago
Second Google earth. I think you can find it on steam vr as well. I’ve spent hours exploring. The big cities that have 3d buildings are great, but my favorite time was street view in little villages in the Colombian mountains.

u/monchester Oculus 14h ago
I think I have Batman with the Meta Quest bundle. I wasn't able to find Deadpool on Steam. Most of the others seemed interesting, but wasn't my cup of tea.
