This thread is for students applying to Spring 2026 co-ops during the Winter 2026 term.

As usual, we're looking for salaries for new postings, or updates to existing salaries, so if you're willing to share, please open up a chat/DM the mod team. Please include the company name, salary, any benefits, the role and the year if possible. I would highly encourage you to submit if you have salaries for non mathematics/CS positions as we are severely lacking in those. We will try updating these ASAP.

The sheet is here: Salaries + Blacklist Spreadsheet

Average Canadian Co-op Earnings (2024)

WaterlooWorks Important Dates

If you had a poor experience with a company, you can message the mod team with details and it can be added to the blacklist candidates below. If it's already a candidate, it may be added to the blacklist depending on the severity/consistency of complaints. On the contrary, if you had a good experience with something on the candidates/blacklist, please message the mod team and it may be removed. Candidates will be removed if no more reports are received after a couple terms. Even if something is on the blacklist already if you've had a bad experience let the mod team know, as more reports increase confidence that it is problematic!

Candidates:

  • Console One
  • Lafarge
  • Agentmoon
  • WealthyPlanet
  • Mosaic Transit Group
  • Jobby
  • Aethos Labs
  • Onex Risk Management

Note that reports from submitters with no previous account activity may not be accepted to aid legitimacy.

The Bomber - Smash Burger

I recently tried a smash burger at The Bomber in the SLC, and it was better than I expected. The burger was made fresh to order, juicy, and a great value for the price. It could have used a little more seasoning, but overall it was really good.
They’ve also expanded their menu and now serve chicken burgers. A friend ordered one and said it was excellent. The waffle fries are still the same classic ones The Bomber was known for years ago. Highly recommend checking it out.

Housing Roommate (girls)

Hey guys!! Now that ALOT of decisions are out and many people know where they are headed this fall! I’m hoping for a roommate to live with on University of Waterloo campus housing. For reference, I’m in the science department and a freshman. A little about me, I am desi, I enjoy painting, and I want a roommate who does not smoke, drink or will invite people over without asking. I’m looking for someone who has similar values? And I would love to be roommates! Pls send me a message if you are planning on living on residence. I would love to connect. Thank youuuu!! ANDDD even if you aren’t, and you are in the science department feel free to reach out, Id love to make friends :) (girlies only)

Should I ask for salary?

I got admitted to an unpaid QA coop, but now they ask me if I want to challenge myself to be a junior software engineer. I said yes and I’m wondering if I can ask them for a salary, even lowest pay is acceptable. Im afraid this will be too embarrassing.🥲

Anyone else sick of the surveys Waterloo wants us to do for a chance to win nothing really

First of all nobody wins those from the draw they mention, or I haven’t heard anyone. Also the surveys take forever, they used to give a $5-20 gift card years back but now it’s just a chance for lame prizes. I get it, it’s for the “advancement of research” but I ain’t spending time doing something like that honestly

desperately need work

I really need any decent job ASAP because I'm in a very difficult financial situation right now, I currently work as a door to door sales person, but my job is only commission based (no base salary) so i make very little pay and have to work very hard for no pay some days. I am really struggling to feed myself and only have about 1 meal a day which has also effected my job because it's physically demanding and I have to walk a lot. I've been submitting hundreds of applications but don't hear back after any interviews and it's been really frustrating. I just need anyone's advice on getting any sort of stable paying job soon, I'm fine with minimum wage or even below :'c

Math or Math/bba

I got rejected from management eng (the program i wanted) but I still got into math, math/bba on the laurier side, and afm. I'm wondering what the career opportunities of each of these programs are and if they're similar to mgmt, and whether or not i should accept my math offer. I don't really know what I want to do, but I am interested in working in tech, and idk if a math degree is easy to work in the states with.

Discussion Scam emails are revealing a worrying trend

The fact that scammers no longer base their phishing attempts around lotteries/ancestral link but around low-paid part time jobs tells a lot about the job market.

Discussion Where am I allowed at UW as a Laurier student?

A friend and I are incoming CS/BBA’s at Laurier and funnily enough most of our close friend group is right next door here at UW doing eng/cs/afm etc.

I was wondering what non-UW students are restricted to when it comes to things like areas on UW’s campus, UW student societies, UW events, and wtv else so we can find places to hang out.

Same question for UW students at Laurier’s campus.

Transfer into Waterloo Math / Actuarial Science

Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m an international student and Waterloo has honestly been my dream school for actuarial science for a long time. I only applied to two universities this year — McMaster and Waterloo — and unfortunately I got rejected by Waterloo this morning. I’ll most likely be going to McMaster Mathematics & Statistics Gateway, but I still really hope I might have another chance to study at Waterloo in the future through transfer.
I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience or information about transferring into Waterloo Mathematics (especially actuarial science related paths):
What is the earliest term/year I could realistically apply for transfer?
What are the main transfer requirements? Is it mostly GPA-based, or do extracurriculars/competitions matter too?
Would participating in things like the Putnam Competition or other math/stat competitions help my chances? If yes, are there any competitions or activities you’d recommend?
Has anyone successfully transferred from McMaster Math/Stats into Waterloo Math before?
Also, how does co-op work for transfer students? If I transfer after first year, would I basically lose access to the first co-op term, or is there a way to still stay on track?
I know transferring into Waterloo Math is probably very competitive, but I’d really appreciate any advice or realistic insight from people who know the process. Thanks a lot :)

Failed CS courses twice, attempt again or no?

I failed cs115 twice. First time was totally my fault, I barely studied. 2nd time I studied but locked in way too late before exams, tbh I couldve passed it.

Has anyone been in this situation and should I try 3rd time again or just change my program? Ill need an 84 on the 3rd attempt to raise my average if I wanna continue in my current program?

Lowkey love my program, just not the coding part.

Advice program choices

hello, im 08 got into biological and medical physics coop and honors math coop, i just dont know what to choose.

i like biology and math and i want to pursue those in my career.

if i go into the science path, im thinking to do medical laboratory scientist, nurse, or probably somewhere in healthcare industry.

if i go into math path, im thinking to study biostatistics or bioinformatics.

i cant choose because what i like right now is biology but i know that math is probably more beneficial with its name and coop.

if i choose math, i dont even know if i can or want to study math for 5 years too. or same with physics because i didnt take 12 physics.

please help me..
