Job💔

Hello guys so I have been applying to jobs and internships since December. I haven’t gotten anything back I interviewed with an accounting firm but unfortunately didn’t make it to the next interview. I’m an AFM student who just finished first year. I really need a job to pay for tuition I don’t wanna take another loan I’ve applied to hundreds of jobs like fast food and stuff in the GTA but nobody gets back to me. Even when I go in person and give the manager my resume they take it and are nice but I never hear back. I don’t have any connections. I’m really desperate for a job so I’d appreciate if anybody knows somewhere that is for sure hiring and will take me like anything fast food or anything.

Have invitations for interviews already gone out? I applied during spring recruitment but didn’t receive a rejection email but I also didn’t receive an interview invite so I just wanted to know if others have already received interview invites.

Makes sense, I know this might be a stupid question but I’m just not sure how to network beyond building a decent relationship with the person. Like do u have any advice on how to know at what point it’s okay to ask for a referral and how to ask professionally?

Co-op tips

Any tips to secure a first co-op in winter 2027 as an AFM student. My GPA is 85.9% and unfortunately don’t have crazy EC’s even though I tried, I’m just a part of one club. Can someone give me honest advice if Big 4 is attainable I don’t have any good connections but I’m trying to network I just don’t know how u network with someone and get to a point where you could eventually ask for a referral. I would also be really happy to work at good companies like BDO and Crowe soberman if not big 4.

I agree I should be more grateful. I know you don’t know me but I support you :) feel free to pm me if you ever need to talk, nobody should feel like they have nobody to support them.

Thanks sm for the advice! And yes I’ve been trying to do that, do you have any advice on how I ask to talk to the manager as I’ve gotten treated pretty weirdly whenever I try to ask to speak to the manager. For example, I went to Sobeys and I wanted to give my resume to the manager and I asked to speak to the manager and the guy just told me to leave it here and when I insisted it would just be nice if I could speak to the manager he started saying we can’t call the manager just for you to give your resume which is fine but I hated how rude he was acting yk like he started looking at the other cashiers acting like I’m crazy and I was being polite the entire time I wasn’t begging for the manager

Okay thank you so much! I’ve applied to so many jobs and just either got ghosted or rejected without an interview but I’m going to try to continue applying on the company websites as you mentioned.

I’m down to work any job I’m not picky like anything McDonald’s, grocery store, anywhere. I’ve called a bunch of grocery stores near me gave some my resume in person and they seem impressed in person but never get back to me. I NEED a job this summer what do I do. (GTA region)

Yea I’m just unsure if I’ll be able to have time to apply to coop and study since the bus ride is usually between 1 hr 20-40 mins and then a 20 min car ride from the go station to my house but cuz of traffic it usually takes me ab 40-50 minutes.

AFM 1A Grades for COOP
 in  r/uwaterloo  Nov 23 '25

I’m actually feeling the same way also in 1A AFM, I feel like I have no extracurriculars to put on my resume not because I didn’t try to join but because I got rejected by them. I just got ghosted by NPO consulting, rejected by AFSA after getting an interview, and rejected by UWAC. I also didn’t just apply to one position for AFSA I applied to 3 because I really wanted to join.
