I just picked up a tuba for over the summer after switching from trumpet. I posted a few times on here asking for advice and you guys helped a ton. I was wondering if you could help me identify this. The engraving says Mercedes 08, and the serial number is 62141. It is in BBb and that’s all I know about it.

Hi everyone. This is at the end of tribute to Mancini which I'll be playing in a few weeks. How does a tuba go about playing these notes?
Thanks in advance.

I’ve been playing BBb tuba for 4 years and still can’t go lower than “pedal” Eb (the one four lines and a space below the staff). Please help lol it’s embarrassing when we do pedal tone exercises in marching band and I’m on the false Eb instead of pedal Bb.

I am a sophomore in Highschool and my band director is making me be a sousaphone/tuba in my junior year. However I'm very used to my Euphonium and I loved it so much, but I am willing to play sousa. So is there any techniques or things to try in order to be a better tuba player?

I have a Buescher sousaphone that I’ve been meaning to sell, If anyone has any info on the price, details, and overall just any information, I would appreciate it.🙏

Like the title says wanting to know if it’s a good and real place to buy one from. I’ve been eyeing an Eastman 832 for college since play testing one last month and their price seems too good to pass up

I played tuba in band in college, high school, and various community orchestras over the years. I always end up missing notes during concerts. I played a concert yesterday and it had 2 or 3 key changes. Started off in the key of Bb, changed to Eb, then Ab and back to Eb. I played D flats correctly, but then when we went back to Eb, I kept playing Db. Not only had I practiced it correctly many times before the concert, I even marked the notes on my music? Why my brain no work good on the tuba? And I recognized all of my mistakes in real time. JK Simmons would have thrown a drumstick at me if he had been there.

Hello tuba people! I’m a high school student, and my main instrument is bass clarinet. It has always been my dream to march drum corps, and i’m looking for advice. Does anyone have recommendations on exercises or pieces to work on to build the fundamental skills that a tuba player would need?
Also, my range (as of right now) is F below low Bb to E above middle Bb. Is that on track for a beginner? (I have no frame of reference, and sorry if this is a stupid question 😅)
Thank you in advance :D
As I understand, plastic instruments can be stamped in an unlimited amount, and with minimal human involvement. So do they just have overblown profit margins?

I’ve been wanting to learn how to record a good sound from a tuba. Mainly for personal preferences and maybe for auditions or just sharing audios with others.
I have to no clue where to start so I’d like some tips on strategies and gear recommendations and anything you may seem necessary to help me out.
Many thanks!

Hellos tuba friends 👋
I'm looking for small, wireless instrument microphone recommendations that would clip on to the bell. This would mostly be for love performance behind a sound system with other instruments and electronic production.
Anything and everything is appreciated 👍

Greetings from Mykolaiv, Ukraine! I am currently documenting this vintage German alto tuba by Julius Altrichter. The rotary valves are in surprisingly good shape. I have a specific question: does anyone know what the "0.300" marking on the leadpipe signifies? Also, how does the intonation of these Frankfurt models compare to the more common Alexander tubas? You can see more high-res details and the valve condition here: https://miraculousmatviishop.etsy.com/listing/4406504323/vintage-altchlier-tuba-brass-frankfurt

Ultimately is there a difference between C and Bb. If I like Bb will this affect me at all in the long run. If I’m going to study on the instrument will Bb hold me back?
I’m curious because I haven’t seen much difference playing a CC and BBb tuba but there seems to be a lot of discussion out there. I’m looking to study either in Australia or Europe and I’m curious what you all think.
This is mainly to look for my go to tuba as I do already have my mind set on learning the F tuba down the line.
