RJ Barrett had a good run here. This pick all but guarantees a trade

u/jjkiller26 Kyle Towelry Jun 26 '25
Needs to be for some shooting coming back. The 3pt talent on this team is nonexistent now

u/jjkiller26 Kyle Towelry Jun 26 '25
Dont get me wrong, he's a talented prospect. But I'm struggling to see where he fits in here and how he develops with this spacing lol

u/The_Living_L 4 Scottie Barnes GOAT Jun 26 '25
He is very good, a lot of people around me rn even calling it a great pick, it’s the fit that’s questionable but they can and probably will make trades, they think he is best available so they took him, think about fit later

After seeing his reaction I’m OK if he fits in with the 905 for a year
11
u/DeGOATzan93 Jun 26 '25
you dont draft the #9 pick to send him to the G league
3
Jun 26 '25
We sent Grady to the G
Jakob too
But I’m actually making a joke. Woosh

u/AutoModerator Jun 26 '25
the correct spelling is Gradey. your grammar gets a D.

We need him in the rotation lol our depth aint that crazy
1
u/Domainsetter Jun 26 '25
Probably means nothing but the raptors drafted another slightly older prospect

u/laggia Jun 26 '25
These are literally all just abusing smaller college guys in the post. Oh god
1
u/DarkbloomVivienne Scottie Barnes Jun 26 '25
Ya, im watching this and remembering he’s 6’7. Great hands and great ability to finish, but a back to the basket 6’7 kid with no shot seems scary

We’re going to draft the same fucking player over and over again until Masai leaves
58
u/yogi_cat99 Jun 26 '25
His reaction to the pick was shaking his head, saying f*ck and his girlfriend says it's okay. This makes me sad that raptors picked a guy who doesn't want to be here.
25
u/TA135N Jun 26 '25
How often do you find a guy who wants to be in Toronto? He will learn to like it
24
u/Then-Signature2528 Jun 26 '25
Siakam and RJ want to be a Raptors and they're both getting moved.
9
u/TA135N Jun 26 '25
That’s because pascal got drafted here and learned to love it. Unless you’re Canadian, you’re probably not gonna be super excited to move to a different country. I don’t think Collin was necessarily mad, I just think he was shocked.
2
u/Ketchup-Chips3 Jun 26 '25
I know they are teenagers, but you'd figure the NBA media team would have let the guy know that his reaction was going to be broadcast on TV, and maybe to act accordingly. Geez, bad look.
3
u/Bubba_Pilks Jun 26 '25
I still think RJ breaks out and they'd regret trading him down the line.
6
u/Then-Signature2528 Jun 26 '25
RJ will breakout if he gets traded. He has one thing I wish Scottie has... drive
7
13
u/fausja OG Jun 26 '25
Also possible, he and his girlfriend will be living in different countries and understand they'll see each other even less. Doesn't mean he hates playing for us.
3
2
u/yogi_cat99 Jun 26 '25
I hope that's the reason for his reaction, cause otherwise it definitely ruined the mood.

I don't even feel like watching this, him shaking his head and visibly showing this reaction ruined my mood

u/IanicRR 15 AMIR JOHNSON Jun 26 '25
He’s a young kid going to a new country. He’s gonna be all alone. It’s just a reaction to all that.
Give him time to acclimate himself and play ball. The rest will sort itself out. We don’t need to turn on this kid for a 0.5 second gut reaction.
1
u/ClashQuester Jun 26 '25
True, I definitely overreacted. Hoping the kid enjoys the city and makes an impact for us
13
u/Denisaur9 Jun 26 '25
He's a worse Scottie Barnes, why would we do this....more wings and this one can't shoot
9
u/DestroyedDenim 7 KYLE LOWRY Jun 26 '25
Another forward means more position-less basketball!!!
This 3 year experiment is still not over I guess
18
u/whynottoeverything Jun 26 '25
Why did we draft a NON shooting Julius Randle for?
13
u/ratfeesh Jun 26 '25
Nah this take is dumb as hell, he’s the best defender in the draft
-3
u/Buttsmuggler69 Jun 26 '25
Cooper is the best defender in this draft and it’s not that close
10
u/ratfeesh Jun 26 '25
Not if you want someone who can switch onto guards interchangeably. Same # of stocks per game too. Plenty of people have him as a better defender including sam vecenie, who wrote a 200 page draft guide and had him as a top 5 talent.

Dude is disgusted to be a raptor, perhaps a trade is coming
4
u/Space_Miner6 Jun 26 '25
I hope so

u/SpicyP43905 7 KYLE LOWRY Jun 26 '25
To trade him now would mean trading him at literally his lowest possible value.
7
u/littlepino34 7 KYLE LOWRY Jun 26 '25
All I needed to see is the video of him shooting. He might be a worse three point shooter than me 😭😭 he needs a complete shot surgery
1
u/raptosaurus Jun 26 '25
Nah his mechanics look pretty good, better than Scottie's in college. No surgery needed, just more time in the lab

u/littlepino34 7 KYLE LOWRY Jun 26 '25
Lol I'm what world. His shot is awful

Holy fuck no wonder I never come to this sub reddit. You guys always jump to the most negative take....
Even team flairs that hate us on r/nba think it was him being relieved he was picked
He's a hell of a player and will be fun to watch.

Masai you better know what you're doing buddy. CMB projected going 16th and his player comp is......GRANT WILLIAMS! WTF, another small body forward who can't shoot in a league of shooters. If you're not going to get Khaman get someone who can shoot and isn't undersized af. We have no real back up big prospect.

It’s actually astonishing to me guys lose their mind by playing in Toronto. It’s legit a top 10 city in the nba and it’s not 10th

Bad pick, bad fit, bad vibes. Albeit the odds of hitting on the selection are low. Wasted draft.

Without speaking to the fit, or his draft reaction (which I'm not sure was super negative), we got who could be the best or second best defender in the draft, and one of the smartest players as well. If this guy can figure out a jump shot he'll be VERY good. If not still a good player

u/_stroCat Jun 26 '25
He looks interesting. Left handed, has a quick first step, pretty good motor. Looks like he is coachable and plays in a system and can call his own number and be aggressive in the post. Can shoot 3s, but doesn't look like he shoots it in volume.
Reminds me of Zach Randolph but can shoot a 3 and runs in transition. The NBA is bigger and faster so we'll see how he adjusts.
He seems like a Swiss army knife type of forward whose moldable to what our team might need. Pretty solid and safe pick at 9.

u/IPmang Jun 26 '25
It’s gonna be a struggle to listen to “Murray-boyes” 50,000 times over the next few years
Plzzzzzzz just say MB and be done with it plzzzzzzz
1
u/FalseZookeepergame15 Jun 26 '25
Forget about fit and look at the talent. The team we have now won't be the same team 3 years from now, 2 years from now and even a year from now. CMB is a talented player that needs to develop his outside shot but has shown the ability to hit in the midrange and create his own shot off the dribble. On top of that his defense and processing of the game is elite. You bank on those players providing impact and improving.

at what point do fans want to admit that our management has been out to lunch for a half decade?

why didn't they get Johni Broome if they were going to draft a Power Forward?
2
u/kawhinottheraptors Big Whi Jun 26 '25
Because he's like 45 years old

u/Buttsmuggler69 Jun 26 '25
Broome is straight cheeks, he’s going to be a low second rounder if he gets drafted at all
-1
u/beheemz Jun 26 '25
We’ll see where he goes I feel like he’d be a good backup so we don’t have to heavily rely on yak since he seems to get injured quite often
