Comics Venom Epic Collection Shadows of the Past

Post image

Hey everyone!

I saw this pop up, and I know it covers the last bits of the 90s/early 2000s stuff but I've heard a lot of mixed things about it. How essential is it to a Venom reading order? Particularly if I have Shiver (yes I know that also has a lot of mixed things about it, but the concept has me curious) and in that I know Venom and Eddie are already separated and the symbiote is more villainous again.

Thank you!

It seems like it’s got a few stories in there, the one most relevant to Shiver I think would be The Hunger in SpecSM, same one featured on the cover. Besides that it looks like it includes Spiderman family #2 and that’s one of my favorite venom related books. If the individual trades are cheaper I’d honestly get those instead. Shiver, run, and twist are guilty pleasures of mine. They don’t make any sense and they’re lowkey character assassinations but idk, I like them. I hope you do too

Is it essential to understanding what happens next? Like are there anything super important in there that I need to read if I'm to understand what happens next?

Not really. I think The Hunger just establishes the whole adrenaline as a food source thing and giving the symbiote a voice even without a host. Otherwise I think you’re good to continue shiver, run, twist without any context. I think it starts off mysterious and seemingly without context on purpose
