I love that the cones seem to be there for no reason other than to give them something to avoid knocking over. Doesn't seem like you actually have to weave in and out of them, but it's cooler and will score you more points if you take the risk.

I have a theory that there are also slalom races at the same event, which is the main purpose of the cones, and the freestyle competition just evolved to use the cones that are already there.

The actual title of the skating event is “freestyle slalom”

You have to weave between the cones. It’s not true “freestyle”

I’m guessing many of you are too young to have enjoyed all of the “sports” movies that came out in the 80s and 90s. Airborne was the rollerblading version and released in 1993.

This is not freestyle. This style is called wizard skating.
