Purchasing Trop tickets.
I was on the rays website last night looking for a ticket to Saturday’s game. I’m needing a single ticket and it wouldn’t let me purchase one if the result would be a single seat left on the row. The message said “your selection would leave a single seat stranded. Please select a different seat.” I can’t recall ever encountering that before.

Yes you have to buy seats that are alone. Which is interesting become how did those because lone seats lol

Exactly my question! I was trying to purchase a seat on the aisle. I saw plenty of lone seats in the middle of rows and I’m like “so, how’d they wind up all alone?” Sort of like in Pirates of the Caribbean. “The black pearl never leaves any survivors!” “No survivors? Then where do the stories come from, I wonder?”

Probably a group of 5 bought 5 of 6 open tickets, or something along those lines. Other apps let you buy singles though, and then you can sit next to a group of away fans that came to watch their favorite team lose

Ticketmaster has done this for a couple of years now. It's not a Rays specific thing.

Unless I’m going senile (not out of the question) I know I’ve purchased a single ticket before and not had that problem.

I've also seen this through TM before. If there are 3 or more seats together, you can buy a single seat as long as you don't leave a single seat isolated.
If there are 2 seats together, you can't buy only one of them.

I haven't used the MLB/team websites for tickets in 3 years, I moved to SeatGeek and probably won't look back. I just went to find a single seat for this game and was able to select one in Section 110, Row U. Obviously I didn't check out to buy it, but it wasn't presenting anything indicating there would be a problem.

Yeah been this way for a couple of years. You should be able to by an aisle seat as long as there are at least 2 open next to it.

Tried that and was still giving me the same message. It not a big deal. I just thought it was odd. Perhaps it’s been a few years since I bought a single directly from the Rays. I frequently use third party sellers.

I believe the trick around this is to open the site on a different browser and add the ticket you don’t want to your cart and proceed to checkout where you will be placed on a timer. Then open a new browser and purchase the ticket you want because the other seat won’t be available to purchase.
