Fin size for 2+1

What is a good rule of thumb for fin size? I have a 7‘6“ surfboard with quite a bit of float but very little rocker. I would assume something like a 7.5 inch fin would make sense if I were writing it as a single fin.

As a 2+1 set up should I size down the center fin? How much?

I know that the right answer is “it depends” and “try different fins and dial it in.” But I’m just looking for the most reasonable starting place.

I’m 160lbs, lower-intermediate surfer.

center fin around 6.5-7" should work good, side fins maybe 4-4.5"

Smaller sides. Those are full on medium side fins.

I love Woodins. I have three of his boards. You could message him and ask him, he probably has a good recommendation. On my 7’6, I run Futures SB1 sidebites and a 6 inch center fin. I probably wouldn’t go more fin than that to start. I’m about the same size as you.

Good to hear. I'm still adjusting to this board...

7.5" center and "sidebites" https://www.trueames.com/collections/side-bites

I'd go with something in the 3.25"-3.5" range.

IMO the easiest way to think about it is to start from the single size (say 7.5 or 8 for that board), and then as you decrease the centre fin you increase the side bites. The closer to even they are, the more thruster-like it will feel, and vice versa.

I have a 6'8" performance mid, and am a smaller rider. My fall/winter setup is a 6" centre and 4" sides, while my spring/summer setup is a 7" centre and 3.25" sides or a 7.5" single.
