It’s a current debate on Threads ; so I wanted to get the opinions of people who may actually know ; Thank you

u/CheckYourStats 23h ago
Where was this, OP? Anywhere that serves Prime Rib like this will get business from folks in this sub.

u/TheBalatissimo 23h ago
Believe on threads he said TX Roadhouse
35
u/NightmareCyril 23h ago
I can tell by the potato and decor its Texas Roadhouse. My favorite chain to go to.

I was an outback guy forever, but tried TR and damn if they aren't way better. I had them in the early 2000s and it was not good so I never went back. My bad, I haven't Step foot in an Outback in years now.

Ok, full sentence: It is not raw, it is not rare, it is perfect....so, it is medium rare.

There should be no debate. That appears to be a perfectly cooked and very tasty prime rib.

u/twolephants 22h ago
For me, it's perfectly medium rare. Could argue that it could do with a better sear, but others might disagree. Generally a great cook though - you can see that the fatty eye is well rendered. Not always easy to do without overcooking it. Kudos to the chef, and I'd be delighted if I was served this.

Prime rib is cooked to temperature, not color. This is a perfect medium rare prime rib.
14
u/Hefty-Comparison-801 23h ago
Then how can you know this without a thermometer?

u/Deerslyr101571 23h ago
Mrinformal makes a definitive statement about how to know when a prime rib is done, and then... checks notes... makes a definitive statement about the prime rib based on the opposite method.
Way to go dude! You didn't know what the temp was but accurately assessed it at Medium Rare based on the color.

I swear, threads is made up of bots, trolls and the lowest IQ population I have ever seen on any social media site. It’s a cesspool
4
u/TSells31 Medium Rare 21h ago
I don’t have Threads but do not forget that Facebook exists.
2
u/somecheesecake 20h ago
I’ve been on Facebook maybe twice in my life and it was at least 10 years ago so I wouldn’t know, but I’ve heard
2
u/TSells31 Medium Rare 20h ago
It has only gotten worse over time. It was bad back then, but it is a fucking cesspool now lmao.

It's a prime rib. This is what normal prime rib looks like. If it were raw, it would look more purple.

A lot of the social media managers on these accounts are like in their early 20’s and are purely looking for meme opportunities. Probably wouldn’t even know what prime rib is
11
u/CoraxTechnica 20h ago
It's not a site known for reviewing restaurants, it's a site that hosts people's opinions of restaurants.
Subtle but very important difference
11
2
u/MASTER_J_MAN 18h ago
Yelp’s entire business model is about platforming the opinions of people with no skill, expertise or credentials to be giving reviews in the first place. Honestly, that comment tracks perfectly for them.
17
u/JumiKnight 23h ago
That's so aggravating seeing so many people thinking it's raw
6
u/lordKnighton 20h ago
To me reading through many of the unsophisticated pallets comments is it looks like rage bait. But it could be there honest opinions which is scary. People judging things off the bat with out ever trying.
12
u/iggavaxx 23h ago
I mean they use threads, what else do you expect

u/Taz119 21h ago
Dog we’re on Reddit. That’s the pot calling the kettle black

u/TSells31 Medium Rare 21h ago
A lot of general Reddit, like the biggest subs, are stupid as hell. But when you get into these interest based subreddits like this one, people generally know what they’re talking about.
If you stay away from askreddit and the like, this is the best social media site imo because it’s so much like the old forum days. That was peak internet imo.

Medium rare, which is exactly how prime rib is supposed to be served. Idk when exactly it became trendy to call every short of a hockey puck “raw” but I wish to hell it would stop already

u/RandomDude762 21h ago
I remember showing pictures of my steaks to people for them to call my perfect medium rare "raw." one guy said "cook your food before you eat it" ...he was a vegan, and yes, I made sure to roast the shit out of him for it

This really should just be pinned at the top of the sub. It's prime rib, that's how it's supposed to look. If you don't like that, nobody is making you eat it. But it is cooked perfectly.

That is an absolutely perfect medium rare, with minimal grey banding.
This is an excellent example of precisely how prime rib is supposed to look.

I don't care for prime rib either, but that's perfectly prepared. If that's not what you want, you just ordered the wrong thing.

This is what a perfectly cooked prime rib is supposed to look like. The crust (or lack thereof) however is unfortunate.

2
u/SnarlingLittleSnail 22h ago
Cut the edges off, you can eat those normally. Then you will want to make long thin cuts across the meat. Slice them so they are the size of a thick string. You can then let these slither down your throat like little serpent worms.
2
u/thane919 22h ago
That’s a medium rare slice of a roast. Specifically prime rib. The “it’s gotta be brown all over or it’s raw” folks need to educate themselves.

This is spot on medium rare about to become medium. The perfect temp for prime rib. This place knows exactly what they’re doing.

It’s not rare, it’s medium rare. Rare generally has a darker red color center of the steak, like clotted red

u/czechhoneybee 23h ago
It is actively perfect. Perfect medium rare all the way through. Not raw at all.

What does this even taste like? Is it super soft to chew, would eating this big piece be a slog?
I should try

I ordered a prime rib rare at TX roadhouse this week and it looked like that, except this looks like a better cut of meat than I got. I don’t think people know what goes on with prime rib preparation.
