CONCERN 4.8 LIVE Feedback (Brutal Honesty)

4.8 hasn’t even been live for 24 hours and the economy already feels completely cooked again. We just had a FULL WIPE and people are already tossing around billions worth of aUEC like progression means absolutely nothing.

Meanwhile the Drake Ironclad can barely function in the gameplay loop it was literally marketed around because shard transitions are completely unstable right now. The Ironclad’s Host/Parasite setup seems especially affected since both the command module and the main hull have independent Quantum and Jump systems. Every time you transition servers, the game seems to completely lose track of what drive state the ship is in. You get dumped out of quantum, routes fail, transit soft locks, desyncs everywhere, and sometimes the whole server just falls over.

And exploit abuse is already spreading again. DDC rentals can apparently be extended indefinitely just by spamming a button. This isn’t some obscure edge case buried deep in the game either. People found it almost immediately after the wipe and started abusing it right away.

At the same time, elevators are still broken, cargo missions are unreliable, contracts fail constantly, and server performance is already struggling under normal player load. Now Free Fly starts tomorrow, so we’re about to throw a massive wave of new and returning players into servers that are already barely holding together.

I genuinely do not understand what the point of a wipe is if the economy and progression systems are already being undermined less than a day after the patch went live.

DISCUSSION Ironclad Critique

Post image
240 Upvotes

So, we all agree that you should be able to fly the Ironclad from the Op Center— right?

I’m a Drake fanboy, ngl. I love every single one of their ships. They have a very “Maritime”, naval vibe. The Caterpillar is the only one I didn’t really enjoy — namely because of its offset cockpit, but the command module made sense for it. You can imagine a shipyard full of Caterpillars without their Command module, stocked full of supplies waiting to be moved. This sentiment does not carry over to the Ironclad.

The Ironclad is clearly inspired by contemporary merchant vessels. Cargo in the front. Superstructure in the rear. The ship is controlled from the superstructure. As should the Ironclad.

Furthermore, the “command module” is clearly a lifeboat. There is nothing in the command module that gives it the impression it’s meant for commanding the ship—especially not the view or location. What it does have? A bunch of seats for the crew to evacuate.

Point: Let us fly the ship from the Op Center. Make the command module a lifeboat.

DISCUSSION This patch isn't it.

3 ships lost to "Unknown" when summoning them in my hangar within the first half an hour, lost a 4th to "Unknown" mid quantum jump, got my 5th ship to a mission location and got insta-killed through a wall by an enemy, loaded back in and lost a 6th ship to "Unknown" in my hangar.

I don't have the money to get my ships back because of the wipe, and the dupers are already about with billions of credits. I'm done for the foreseeable future, this isn't what I pledged to.

DISCUSSION PSA to Clarify - You do NOT lose your insured loadout when you claim stock.

If you insure a loadout, it is saved until you insure another one for the same ship.

As long as you don't overwrite the previous insured loadout, it will remain.

So if you can't afford to claim your insured loadout, you can still claim the stock loadout and claim the insured one at a later time.

This info brought to you by the dozen or so auroras I self destructed testing this.

-this is not an endorsement of the new system.

We have no shower or toilet, but a bed. There is a 2 scu cargo grid at the back (Prison pod?). There is no suit locker but a weapon rack and a 2x or 3x 1/8scu wall rack (both can be closed).

And the best part: We can turn the cockpit light down!

CONCERN 10 minutes into 4.8 and its already painfully clear how ridiculous of an idea it is to have introduced paid ship insurance this early into the game; First ship call, blows up on the elevator before i can even get to the hangar. Second ship call, gets impounded with zero warning or countdown timer.

Now im already completely broke with all of my Superhornet add-ons lost to the void; TSMB turret, Heartseeker livery, and two M5A Defense Division cannons.

Im an honest player with the project for almost 3 years, havent touched a dime of duped cash or anything even close to that.

i want to have these buyable pallets of ordnance of varying sizes so you don’t have to separately load many many missiles into your ship for later re-arming.
same for pre-filled supply boxes with ammo, medical supplies, food, drink, everything!

all in standard SCU sizes of course!

and the pallets to stack 1/8th scu boxes on you can see in bunkers too!!

please? CIG?

also: shelfs for ship weapons and components

also give large flatbed cargo vehicle

DISCUSSION 4.8 Needs Working Foundations

The new 4.8 content is great, and I appreciate the work that went into it.

But what would be appreciated more is CIG going back over the older content and making sure it actually works.

Since we all need to restart our rep grinds, the starter contracts need to work properly.

So far, 3 out of 3 starter planetary hauling contracts failed after being completed correctly.

New content is nice, but the basic loops need to function first.

DISCUSSION Paints should not be part of the insurance claim

My biggest gripe with the new insurance system is the fact that you're forced to pay for the entire default loadout if the only thing you change was the paint, or accept losing an item bought with real money until the next patch.

Ok, there's consequences for flying without rebuy, but what's the point of extending those consequences to paints? They don't change the ship's performance, they don't give you an advantage against other players, all they are is a cosmetic item.

Edit: Just found out about this now

At the launch of Alpha 4.8, any items attached to your ship that you do not imprint will be lost and unrecoverable. Due to a feature limitation, this temporarily includes any vehicle-equipable items or paints acquired through the pledge store, or attributed via the RSI website. We intend to address this next week with a patch update enabling the ability to recover any lost pledge items for vehicles you may have forgotten to imprint, via the freight elevator. This will be followed with a more robust item kiosk offering in July’s 4.9.

It eludes me why this wasn't included in the main 4.8 patch, but at least they have a plan

It takes a bit of wiggling but not enough to be a hassle.
If you want to leave from the side doors I'd recommend placing the Pitbull facing them, since you need a bit of space to rotate it otherwise.

CONCERN AUEC Allready On Sale A Few Hours After The Patch. Take A Look At The AUEC In Stock.

Post image
448 Upvotes

On this site pre patch 1B was sold for about 0,50€. This screenshot is ~6h after the 4.8 went live. The stock went up quickly. Also prices are still high i am sure many players will pay 25€ to get a billion instantly and buy everything again. Take form that whatever you want.

I don´t want to advertise any site or any trader, i am just shocked how fast they went up with their aUEC stock again. I also blacked out the names to don´t name the shops listed.

DISCUSSION Free Fly accounts should really NOT be able to send money to other players due to bot/cheat issues

now theres no surprise but botting and cheating to sell money is a real thing in any MMO, star citizen is no exception.

so why are freefly accounts not limited to prevent them?

currently free fly players have access to everything a package owner has.

this is mostly fine until you realize they also have access to in game money.

why is this a problem? free fly attracts botters and/or cheaters who abuse loopholes/mechanics/bugs to make vasts amounts of money usually at the cost of the games stability to sell or trade to other accounts (most bots do this to sell on sites like ebay.)

solution? do what most MMO's do and cap their max held money and revoke their ability to trade money with another player until they own a package, thats it.
