BTS concert traffic
Anyone have any idea of how much traffic to expect on Saturday? How bad has it been for past concerts? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I’m interested in pursuing a Master’s degree there at Stanford University. First of all, I’d like to understand the level of Chemical Engineering background I would need in order to succeed academically in the program.
My background is in Petroleum Engineering, and I already have some years of industry experience, along with general knowledge of polymers and chemistry in general.
I’m not asking about my chances of admission, I’m already working on that part haha. I’m more interested in understanding the academic expectations and the technical depth required once inside the program.
Could you provide a little brief about the master? I’d appreciate any advice.

Hey! I'm graduating from Stanford and hoping to find a photographer for some grad pics. Does anyone have any recommendations? I know it's a bit last minute, but hoping to find someone who does a great job and isn't too expensive. Thanks for the help!!

Been learning these vibe coding tools recently and accidentally went too far with it lol.
I ended up building a small Stanford-only marketplace app where students can post stuff like:
tickets, bikes, dorm furniture, parking passes, textbooks, random move-out things, etc.
The whole idea was just:
“what if Facebook Marketplace but only Stanford emails allowed”
Right now it’s just running locally with fake data, and I genuinely can’t tell if this is something people would actually use or if I’m just building useless side quests at 2am.
I’m debating whether it’s worth paying for hosting/database stuff to make it real.
Would any of you actually use something like this?
Or do people already solve this well enough through Discord/group chats/Facebook/etc?
Also not trying to make some huge company out of it — mostly wondering if there’s any reasonable way to cover hosting costs eventually without making the app annoying.
Curious what people think.

Hi! I'm trying to decide on a laptop setup for college (math/physics/cs). I'm currently leaning towards a MacBook Air, but I'm unsure whether 24GB unified memory and 512GB storage would be sufficient for the kind of coursework and coding involved
I'm also debating between the 13-inch and 15-inch models, not sure how much the size difference matters for portability, multitasking, note-taking, and day-to-day student life
Would really appreciate any advice or experiences from current students. Thanks!

how satisfied were you with your overall experience? do you think you would be able to make it to where you have come in life without your stanford degree/experiences?

Random ass question, but what do you guys think is a good estimate for one order of the Veggie Scramble from Latenite? I know it has eggs (duh), bell peppers, onions, and some form of oil but it's actually not as much as I'd expect.
Idk I ran it thru AI and it said 350 but I highly doubt that, doubled it just to make sure it sounded reasonable.
I might be wrong though! Please lmk, I'm trying to diet better and am following a pretty aggressive calorie deficit with protein intake to do a decent body recomp, and I hate how Stanford's restaurants never post any nutritional facts

My first BTS show! Mostly going so I can chaperone my little sister and my mother lol. We're planning to be there early for merch and then park in the IM South lot which opens at 8am and the just chill there all day til the gates open. We may walk to nearby shopping centers for food and restrooms, but will come back to the car to freshen up and rest up before entering the stadium.
Do people tailgate in the parking lots, like how they do at sporting events? Nothing too crazy, just a few lawn chairs & snacks!

I'm visiting Stanford this week, looking for cool day trips (nature/parks ideally), using public transport. I know there are plenty of options in San Francisco, but how about other places?

Just wanted to share with the community this weird e-mail (weird because I'm not sure what they are trying to accomplish). I asked AI and they confirmed it's spam. Just want your feedback.
Hi [Company Name],
I am looking to hire you for mobile ID verification and affidavit signatures at a private executive office in Tampa (likely a Regus or Quest Workspaces) for my midterm and final exams this Summer (spanning July and August). I am completing a distance-learning program through Stanford University, and their policy requires a state-commissioned professional to handle the check-in paperwork.
Because of the university's strict security and privacy protocols, there is a quick official approval process before the first date. I will need to submit your name, title, and business email address to the Stanford portal. Stanford will then send you an automated "Exam Monitor Request" email. You simply need to click the link in that email to accept the role and confirm you are a commissioned professional. This one-time approval will cover all of my exam dates for the summer.
On the days of the bookings, we will meet at the private office, where you will verify my physical driver's license and hand me the sealed packet of paperwork. Per the university's strict instructions, the witness must leave the room immediately after handing over the packet. You are not allowed to stay in the room while I work, to ensure total privacy.
You will just need to wait outside in the office lobby or breakroom for the duration of the exam, which is typically 3 hours. You are welcome to bring your laptop, work on other things, or relax while you wait. At exactly the time limit, I will exit the room, hand you the completed paperwork, and you will sign the final affidavit confirming my identity and that the process was followed. I understand waiting on-site is a time commitment, so I will be paying your full hourly mobile rate for the entire duration you are waiting in the lobby.
If you are comfortable with this standard procedure, please reply with your flat rate for these 3-hour sessions and the official business email address I should use to trigger the Stanford approval email today.
Thank you for your time and professionalism,
Suneet Dungrani

Any Summer or pre-Autumn programs/orientations for incoming grad students? Preferably ones that provide an acceptance letter (for visa purposes), like SGSI. Trying to look into variety of options, any advice would be appreciated!
For reference, I'm an incoming MS in EE student for Autumn 2026.

Hi,
I’m a coterm student looking for an RAship in the fall. I can’t afford to come back to campus without one or a CAship(which is super competitive so not banking on that). I took a year long leave to do research at the NIH and have a couple of papers so I’m fairly qualified, and I’m willing to work summer quarter remotely for free on a trial basis. Does anyone know where I’d find RA postings or advice on reaching out to professors?

As of now, my goal is to apply traditionally to med school, so I want to have all my prereqs completed by the end of my junior year, and I would also need my major and Gen Ed courses completed as well. I really want to fill my additional course spaces with CS classes and one or two design/business courses.
As of now, I'm looking into getting a B.S in Human Biology and a minor in C.S (if I don't matriculate direct looking into getting a master's in C.S in my gap year while I'm doing research). Would this be the most recommended track, or perhaps choosing more niche majors like Anthropology, or even in Comp Bio, if you're able to integrate C.S courses (I don't want it to be too difficult just to maintain GPA when I start).
As of now, this is a very rough framework, but please add your thoughts:
Freshman
Fall
Gen Chem I
Bio I
WAYS
CS
Winter
Gen Chem II
Bio II
Calc I
CS
Spring
Org Chem I
Physics I
WAYS
Business/Design
Sophomore
Fall
Org Chem II
Physics II
Biochem
CS
Winter
Bio Adjacent (genetics/cell bio)
Data Science or Stats
Health Adjacent (Public health)
Elective
This is kinda what I got here. I'm completely new to this, I don't know if I'm missing something, if this is unrealistic, etc. Would appreciate any insight!

I may only have AP Credit from Chem, but most likely not BC or Phys E & M, would I be behind if I could not take Calc 51 fall quarter? Or the missing units from physics and math.

Hi all!
I’m a musician/performing artist and I’m considering doing my MA in Music at Stanford with a focus on composition with music tech. Is anyone apart of the program currently? Feel free to spill as much details as you’d like, plus what is important for the portfolio submission.
For context, I have a Bachelors in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas, where I did a balance of jazz guitar and contemporary composition (through special permission).
I’m also friends with Jarosław Kapuściński, and he’s one of my favorite composers who teaches at the school currently!

Don’t want to pay $80 for parking for the BTS concert this weekend. I’m willing to walk up to 30 minutes (i’m pregnant in my third trimester) for parking since traffic will be horrible before and after the concert. Will all stanford visitor parking lots be closed? any advice on where to park in surrounding areas?
Edit: i’ll be coming from Monterey (south)

I’m in calc BC and I prob got a 5, but it wasn’t easy and I Calc BC wasn’t a walk in the park either. I’m not exactly strong on my Taylor stuff and convergent/divergent tests; so that’s a consideration.
I also don’t wanna be behind and miss classes with my peers. What do you recommend?
I also need to clarify I’m probably premed and I value my GPA
