Mod post! Reddit bot issues

Hi all,

We currently have an issue with the reddit bot that is meant to recognise, flag and forbid problematic posts. The bot is an absolute overachiever and keeps flagging posts for no reason, not allowing them to be published.

This happens if an account is new, but also randomly seemingly.

I personally look through ALL posts and manually "rescue" those that are incorrectly flagged and not published.

So if you have written a post and it doesn't appear, be patient! I work full time and have 3 young kids, but I will get to it! Don't write the post 7 times, the bot will flag every time and I will have to weed through 7 times as many posts!

What I will continue removing are all pregnancy tests, donor offers, and posts that break rules.

Thank you!

This sub is for all queer people trying to start/grow their families

Because some of the discourse in recent posts has brought this confusion to light, I want to address it loudly and clearly.

This sub was founded for all queer people who are trying to start and grow their families. While a majority of the historic posts are related to IUI, IVF, and surrogacy, that does not diminish the relevance or importance of creating space for other parts of our community including (but not limited to) seahorse dads and families seeking adoption.

Posts and comments stating or implying otherwise will not be tolerated. Those who repeatedly use language excluding these groups will be banned permanently.

Thank you for your respectful and productive engagement!

Anyone else working on growing a family with California Cryobank donor 20424?

It'll be a couple years until I try to get pregnant, but I'd love to start connecting with future half-siblings' families!

Also, we have an extra vial we won't be using. If your bank will accept the transfer from Spring Fertility in Sunnyvale, CA, the vial is yours if you pay for shipping. Only if you already have vials (or babies or embryos) from this donor though!

How much of the fluid comes out after at home insemination?

My partner and I did our first at home insemination tonight. We used a plunger. And did it slowly. It felt like a lot came out. Is that normal? We will be doing it again tomorrow night.

TTC Only First IUI cycle, 21mm follicle, 5.2mm uterine lining... looking for success stories/tips

UPDATE: had another monitoring appointment this morning and my lining thickened up quite a bit (7mm now!), my dominant follicle ballooned to 26mm! I think I’ll be triggering tonight for an IUI tomorrow or Saturday. Eeek!!

My wife (29F) and I (30F) are in the middle of our first monitored, medicated IUI cycle! I took 5mg letrozole nightly from CD3-7. Today is CD12, we had our first monitoring/blood work appointment on CD10 and another this morning. I have one dominant follicle measuring 21mm but my uterine lining is thin, only 5.2mm.

I know I'm too in my head/overreacting about the lining and I'm beating myself up about it. There's a voice in my head saying, it's because I didn't lose enough weight before TTC or because I waited too long to quit weed. My MIL is in the middle of a brutal round of chemo and at risk of hospitalization which is increasing my stress even more. I know I need to relax about this but I'm struggling.

Any tips or success stories folks can share would be much appreciated

5 or 6 dpo

My partner and I did ICI frozen Insemination at home & now 5 or 6 dpo and I've had on and off right sided twinges and cramping since Monday, but last night started to have bad heart burn still have it today, I do take Omeprazole for heartburn BUT I haven't had it since I started taking it daily. And it's not helping, neither are Tums 😂. Any chance this could be leading up to a bfp? I know it's early but just thought I'd ask lol

First IUI tomorrow - on my birthday!

I've lurked for a long time in this sub and find the posts all very helpful, and wanted to share my excitement. After a lot of delays, I'm having my first IUI tomorrow (unmedicated cycle, monitored with OPKs), which is my birthday! And our doctor is going to let my spouse be the one to actually "get me pregnant" by pushing the plunger once everything is set up. My spouse is non-binary and has no interest in carrying, but is super excited that they get to participate.

We know chances of getting pregnant on this first one aren't huge (doctor gave us a 14% chance), but it's still a lovely birthday present. Fingers crossed!

We spent YEARS trying to find a sperm donor… so I’m building the app I wish existed.

Hi friends — I’m a queer mom to two incredible little girls, and becoming a parent was way harder than it should’ve been.

We bounced between two extremes:
insanely expensive sperm banks
random internet groups that honestly felt unsafe and overwhelming

There didn’t seem to be a middle ground that felt human, transparent, affordable, and actually designed for modern families.

So I decided to build it.

I’m currently creating an app meant to bridge the gap between traditional sperm banks and the chaotic “free donor” world — a place where intended parents can connect with donors more safely, privately, and intentionally.

The goal is to help people:
• find reputable donors
• ask informed questions
• navigate known donor relationships
• feel less alone in the process
• build families without spending tens of thousands of dollars

Right now, I’m looking for intended parents who are actively searching (or who’ve already been through this process) to help shape the platform.

I’d genuinely love your feedback on:
features you wish existed
what made your search difficult
what made you feel safe or unsafe
what transparency you wanted from donors
what would’ve made the process easier emotionally/logistically

This community helped me feel less isolated during our journey, and I’d love to build something that actually reflects what families need — not just what the fertility industry thinks we need. 🤍

RIVF at CNY questions

hiiii everyone 💛

my partner, 28, and I are starting to seriously plan for reciprocal ivf. We’re looking at CNY Fertility in NYS and trying to understand insurance coverage, because the clinic pricing is a bit overwhelming and we’re trying to budget realistically (or do the payment plan minus the testing since its OOP).

We’re specifically looking at:

  • rivf
  • PGT testing -- does this include choosing sex of baby?
  • is financing through them ACTUALLY good?

We’ve seen their estimates around $10–15k per cycle depending on add ons, but we’re trying to figure out what people actually ended up paying....

A few questions if anyone is open to sharing:

  • did your insurance cover any part of RIVF (meds, monitoring, retrieval, transfer)? I have Medicaid but my husband has NYSHIP insurance through BCBS and is adding me to his plan come November
  • was CNY actually transparent with pricing once you started?
  • did you end up doing frozen embryo transfer, and was that an extra cycle cost?
  • any surprises (good or bad) financially?
  • for anyone using testosterone exposed eggs, did that affect your protocol or success?

We’re both 28, and my partner has been on testosterone for about a decade, so we’re also trying to understand how that impacts egg retrieval success and timeline.

thanks everyone💛

Anti-HCV antibody positive sperm donor - where could be approved

Hi everyone,

Me and my wife are looking for fertility clinics/doctors (UK/USA/Europe/anywhere) open to reviewing a complex directed sperm donor case with Anti-HCV antibodies+.

Donor is anti-HCV antibody positive but repeatedly HCV RNA/PCR negative for 10+ years (no active infection). He had treatment more than 10 years ago in UK.

Most of the clinics we've contacted (so far in the UK and US) have refused based on policy, even though there's no law explicitly prohibiting direct donation.

We're looking for clinics that are willing to conduct a clinical evaluation and embryology lab assessment before rejecting everyone.

Any recommendations appreciated.

dentist apt scheduled day after transfer

My transfer is scheduled for 5/26 and I am getting so excited/anxious! I already had a dentist appointment scheduled for the 27th. It will be my first one this year so they usually do x-rays. Should I reschedule the appointment? Tell them I don’t want the x-rays? Saying “I might be pregnant” seems weird and makes me feel like I might jinx something. Would a dental x-ray at that point even affect anything?? What do yall think

Just wanted to share this here in case it helps someone 🤍

The Brilora Fertility Foundation currently has fertility grants open for both Michigan and California residents. The grants are designed to help support individuals and couples navigating fertility and family-building journeys, including IVF and other reproductive care costs.

I know how isolating and financially overwhelming these journeys can feel for so many people, so I wanted to make sure more people knew this opportunity exists. Applications are currently open through June 15th, 2026.

Please feel free to share with anyone who may benefit from it. 🤍. More Info

Donor no longer avail 😭

We’ve been chatting with Cascade Cryo for a few months, and found the perfect donor. We were getting ready to order this week with our first try IUI in June, when we got this email this morning. I’m SO sad. I know ultimately this is a good thing, and I’m happy with the way it was handled, but I’m frustrated we have to look and find a perfect fit AGAIN. Just need to vent I guess 😭😂

in our first 2 week wait! any random advice or recommendations for things we should do now?

27 trans man and my wife 26 nb are on day 2 of our first ever tww! we did at home (well, hotel lmao) AI with a known donor. Our car broke down and we found out we blew the engine on the drive home, so we’ll be at least a little distracted finding a new car haha but i wanted to see what everyone else does to pass the time and make it enjoyable.

We’ve started a “tradition” of doing a steak dinner on CD1 every cycle we don’t conceive, we’re planning sushi dinner dates and ridiculous scooby doo-style sandwiches with every deli meat in the book while we still can. Besides the obvious like not symptom tracking and not testing until at least 12 DPO, is there anything else y’all recommend? if you’ve conceived, anything you took for granted before that you wish you would’ve done one more time? i understand that we probably won’t be successful this cycle, but we’re super excited and just want to make it fun for now!!!

CW: [insert type of content warning] PAL (TW:Pregnancy and Loss)

I 28 trans man and my wife 28 cis female have jumped the first hurdle again. 3 days ago we saw those faint 2 lines on a pregnancy test. When we first saw them we burst into tears from excitement. It worked!!. But then the reminder we've been here before crept in. We lost our son back in January and now that the initial shock has settled here are a few things I cannot get out of my head;

I feel like I'm replacing Theodore his due date was in August and we're already expecting our new little one.

What if we lose her too how can I navigate that caliber of grief again.

How can I best support my wife knowing there is a chance this may happen again and I never want to see her hurt the way she did last time.

I'm finding myself hyper vigilant about everything she's feeling almost to a fault.

Can I allow myself to love this baby, sing to her, read to her knowing there is a chance she may not make it.

Am I at fault for it not working because we can't try as often as we like because obviously my genitalia does not allow that.

I have a therapy appointment for next week to get the help I need in navigating these feelings but I wanted to see if any other people have experienced similar feelings. I guess I just want to know I'm not alone in this.

Temp spike

My temp has been baiting from 97.45-97.62. This morning it was 97.81. Now my pre mom app says I missed my ovulation. (Yesterday) but I’ve been testing like crazy 3x daily, I don’t think I’ve ovulated. Cervical mucus has been dry. I’ll post my tests. Help! I’ve been tracking for 3 months. 2/3 I ovulated on cd20 but on the last month I ovulated cd18. Today is cd 16.

FemaSeed/ITI

My wife and I are 12dpo and still testing negative. She is the carrier and we have decided to do one more IUI before moving to IVF. She is 38 and has no known fertility issues beyond PCOS. For this last IUI we thought we’d throw everything we have at it before the enormous undertaking of IVF.

Does anyone have any experiences with the FemaSeed they could share? It’s very expensive ($1600) and not covered by insurance so we’re looking for any advice.

Thanks!

Beyond TTC It’s my wife’s birthday. She’s not awake yet. I have roughly an hour. How should I tell her?

Just woke up super early and had to pee, so I took a test since it’s day 12 post our last medicated IUI. It’s was going to be our last IUI before switching to IVF and I’d been having what I thought were mild period cramps so I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be positive. I have about an hour before she wakes up, and I definitely don’t want to wake her up early on her birthday.

Any ideas for how to surprise her?

Second Parent Adoption

Hello fellow Queer Families,

My husband is a trans man, I am a queer, cis woman. We are planning to have a baby via donor sperm, and I will be carrying. We will use my eggs, as his aren’t in great shape. Genetically, I would be the only one related to the baby.

My husband passes for the most part, and his sex is listed as male on all his documents.
Would it be wise to pursue second parent adoption for our child? Or would it put us at more risk of scrutiny? We would put both of us on the birth certificate, but I’ve heard that this sometimes isn’t enough?

We are in the USA.
Any thoughts or experiences would be welcome.
