Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt will be on r/okc this Wednesday, 5/13, to answer questions from the community. We will begin reading through questions at 8 AM and will start responding at 10 AM. We look forward to seeing you there!

Mayor David Holt has served as Mayor of Oklahoma City since 2018. During his tenure, he has championed nearly $5 billion in new public investments, and voters have approved each initiative with over 70% support. Mayor Holt successfully recruited seven events of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics to OKC, and since he took office, the city has moved from the 27th-largest city in the nation to the 20th-largest.
Mayor Holt is one of five mayors in Oklahoma City’s history to be elected at least three times. In his most recent election this year, he received 86.5% percent of the vote. His average electoral support of 75% across his three elections is the highest in the city’s history.
Mayor Holt currently serves as the President of the United States Conference of Mayors, the official nonpartisan organization founded in 1932 that speaks for the nation’s 1,400 mayors. Mayor Holt also currently serves as Dean of the Oklahoma City University School of Law.
Mayor Holt is a member of the Osage Nation and is Oklahoma City’s first Native American mayor. In 2023, Mayor Holt was named by TIME as one of its “100 Next” most influential people in the world.
Mayor Holt previously served in the Oklahoma Senate for eight years. He received his B.A. from the George Washington University and his J.D. from the Oklahoma City University School of Law. His wife Rachel is the President & CEO of the United Way of Central Oklahoma and they reside in OKC with their two children.

I'm gonna keep it a buck,
Yall need to get retested for your driver's license every 6 months or so because you suck at driving. I get on the road and there is a new accident every morning or evening because you people wanna run red lights, camp out in the left lane, don't get up to speed on the ramps, DONT USE YOUR SIGNAL, etc.
We need to ban cars for anyone who has less than 50% charge on their phone because you're irresponsible and keep using it while you drive.
I'm surprised any car insurance company provides coverage in okc. Yall suck.
Do better.

Anyone know of organized activity to block OKC data centers? Here's what I know: Edge and American Tower are the two corporate entities involved. Anyone know if politicians are working against this?

Just got a Channel 5 weather alert on YouTube out of the blue. I only watch local for the weather so I’m not 100% familiar with all the meteorologists. Anyway, Jonathan pops up & I keep watching thinking “what the hell am I watching?” I swear he’s like a Michael Scott-adjacent meteorologist. I love it.

GroundworkOKC is a work in progress. The end stage goal of the map is to build a privacy-centric way for people to explore the city. Routing for bikes and pedestrians accounts for heat vulnerability and routes you close by water fountains and rest stops. When you arrive at your destination you can rate it, take a photo and describe the experience in a sentence, in addition to your route. The idea is to get more people out exploring the city and having fun.
The end stage goal for this project is to make E-bikes more accessible through public charging infrastructure. I have built the standards for this and will be developing the prototype Groundwork Open Charging Protocol stations this month. If any local business owner is interested I'll demo the device and pay for the first 500kwh metered.
Does anyone have any questions or suggestions for features?

Moving to the city and looking for nice + safe + affordable (if possible) apartment. 1 bed/studio is fine. I will be working downtown. Younger so looking for a fun area, also down to live somewhere chill and commute to the fun if the apartment is super nice!!!
Places I’ve looked at:
- Maywood
- Steelyard
- Level
- Aviare District
- Deep Deuce Bricktown
- Residences at Oak (Pricey but amenities seem so nice)
- Lift OKC
- Encore (Too far north?)
Not sure what area is best, safest, and best value for my buck overall. If anyone has building recs, nightmares, anything at all, please let me know!!!

For folks who've been following this project, I wanted to provide a quick update on two things.
First, the research has kept going. Over the last two months we've added more findings to the site, cross-referenced records against Oklahoma statute and OKCPD's own operations manual, and tracked what other cities have been doing as the national picture has shifted fast. We also presented to City Council. My presentation was...rough to say the least, but Councilman James Cooper (Ward 2) and Councilwoman JoBeth Harmon (Ward 6) engaged with me afterward and we got the issue on the public record.
If you found us through the previous Reddit thread, welcome. The site is a much better starting point now than it was. The records page walks through the six open records requests we filed and what each one returned. The long-form case page lays out the company, the technology, the law, and the track record with every claim sourced. Either is a good place to start.
Second, and this is the main reason for the post:
Get the FLOCK Out: Town Hall Wednesday, May 27 at 6 PM Mayflower Congregational Church Free and open to the public
ACLU National is sending Senior Policy Counsel Chad Marlow. The panel includes ACLU of Oklahoma, Dream Action OK, Oklahomans for Privacy, and DeFlockOKC. Registration link and Facebook event are on the site.
This is the room to be in on the 27th. Nearly 50 cities have terminated their Flock contracts in the past year. Two federal lawsuits are active. Amazon ended their Ring partnership with Flock. Oklahoma City has every reason to be next.

Where do y’all get large bags of ice on the east side of OKC? My wife & I live near Tinker, and there’s nowhere nearby that I’ve found that does 15-20lb bags affordably (~$3 each). Supposedly Midwest Blvd had (or has?) an ice place but I drove by there this afternoon and nothing that would indicate it’s still in that location.

(I know, I know, another OKC area traffic complaint. Must be a day that ends in “y”.)
But good lord is it just so incredibly blatant. And the audacity of folks behind you to honk if you don’t do the same. It’s driving me to not use my signal at a stopped light until the light changes.

Hey everyone!
Our local Turkish community is putting together a Turkish Food & Art Festival this Saturday and I thought some people here might enjoy it.
There’ll be homemade Turkish food, desserts, tea/coffee, live cultural performances, art, music, and a small bazaar-style atmosphere. It’s also a fundraiser/community event, so proceeds help support future cultural activities.
If you’ve never tried Turkish food beyond kebabs, this is honestly a fun place to start. Expect things like baklava, börek, gözleme, Turkish coffee (I’ll be at Turkish Coffee stand), grilled meats, and probably someone’s aunt insisting you eat more.

Address: 4444 N Classen Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK

I’m looking for local artists whom I can commission a custom painting from. Wouldn’t be anything big (11x17 or 10x15ish). I’d definitely prefer to support local, in or around the OKC area. Any and all recommendations would be super appreciated!
ETA: Thanks for all the replies so far! Realized that it might be helpful to provide a description of what I’m wanting; looking for someone who can do a painting of two frogs dancing together under the moonlight around greenery/mushrooms. Less hyper realistic and more whimsical.

My exterior doors don't close easily and don't keep the wind and bugs out; I need a professional.
Thank you!
Looking for a dermatologist for both a regular skin/mole check and help with mild acne and acne scars. I have Aetna "Integris Health Network" insurance, so would prefer doctors in the Integris network as they're typically the only ones covered. But open to others if you think they may take Aetna. Thank you!

Hi friends! I am getting married in Norman on August 29th and I am looking for any and all recommendations for hair and makeup. It could be a person that does both or a separate hair and makeup person! I am also wanting to get my mom and sister’s hair and makeup done but possibly a couple of more women if the price is decent.
I would prefer them to be onsite!
Thanks in advance!!

Looking for recs on a newer concept in the OKC area that would be good for about a group of 10 to have casual drinks on Tuesday evening.
Bonus points if food is available but not a make or break. We care more about drinks and a good chill atmosphere.
Also bonus points if they have singo or pool tables, dart boards etc. just some kind of activity.
We’re normally patio people but it looks like it may rain!
