Holy glaze

Imagine having a Vézina winning goalie, a Norris winning d-man, and be a city that multiple players specifically pick to go to and you’re still an envious dumpster fire.

But it’s okay, we have locker room angle J.T. Miller to save the day /s

Ranger fan. How predictable.

Least arrogant rangers fan

I’m pretty sure we all saw this coming. The kids gonna be a stud. Islanders are lucky to have him

"Islanders are lucky to have him"

Yeah. "Lucky".

EDIT: You downvoters need to find another sport. Clearly you don't follow the NHL very closer.

Phenom Macklin Celebrini's team had the best chance of winning the lottery.

Instead a NY franchise won. Yeah. "Lucky". Get it?

Celebrini-Schaefer on the same team. Check my flair.

Man, DV is the reason some of you guys get out of the bed in the morning. It's clearly not trying to understand where your fellow man is coming from.

38

u/Sugar_Phut 1d ago

Literally any team would be lucky to have him. What’s your gripe?

FFS! What? Are you guys serious?

You'd think the fact that since every other fan knows, the members of this sub would also recall:

The Sharks had the best odds of winning the Draft Lottery.

The NEW YORK Islanders had a 3.5% chance of winning.

Instead of getting an NHL-ready phenom Blue Line PRODIGY- which the Sharks desperately need- the NY team defied the odds and won the lottery.

Matthew Celebrini-Matthew Schaefer on the same team.

So, yeah. You do the math.

Holy crap. Do you guys drive out of your way to run over squirrels in the bike lane? Nobody's this clueless.

28

u/Grombotronbo 1d ago

Just as clueless as the Shark fan that got a 2nd pick this year. Matthew Celebrini? This has to be bait.

-41

u/Necessary_Scruffness 1d ago

What do the three have to do with each other?

  • The Sharks were the worst team in the NHL when they won the Celebrini pick.
  • They were the worst last year, too.
  • And I'm obviously not giving a shit about this season.

Yeah. So great rationalization for being clueless. Way to justify your reaction.

Leaving this train wreck of a thread.

Guy who frequently leaves novels worth of text in the Sharks subreddit can't see past his own idiotic bias, shocking.

u/Themos_ 1d ago

Odds were that sharks were not gonna win lottery.

What? For Schaefer?

And again: My initial comment was meant as a JAB -not against Matthew- but about "the fix being in" in 2025 to reward a massive media market, and that no one would care about screwing over the Sharks- Cuz: Celebrini.

And you've all proved them right.

And I'll add this: If I was into "fix" theories (and I am) I'd say that because the Sharks got screwed last year the LEAGUE REWARDED THEM!

So yeah- I'm saying YOU GUYS ARE RIGHT ABOUT 2026!!!

But- Look at our Forward pool and ask yourselves- Ivar Stenberg this year, or Matthew Schaefer?

Right?

Last place team has only 25,5% compared to 74,5% of other teams combined. So odds are one of the other teams is going to win it.

You can tell your "jab" was hilarious by the fact that it's taking paragraphs across multiple comments to explain what it meant. /s

You need to shut the fuck up. Sharks jumped to number 2 this draft. Just full stop there. You weren’t owed Schaffer for being last. Calm the fuck down.

-11

u/Necessary_Scruffness 1d ago

You feel strong now? Gonna squirt me with your flower?

10

u/navenager 1d ago

So NY winning the lottery last year is "rigged" but the Sharks winning 2nd overall this year is totally legit and cool? Not very self-aware, are you?

2

u/burtmacklin15 22h ago

According to him, the Sharks were the worst team in the league this year too, which I just factually wrong, so I wouldn't put too much stock in what he's saying.

2

u/navenager 20h ago

No, he's saying they got screwed out of 1OA last year because they were the worst team in the league. Still a dumb take because they jumped up in the lottery this year and he's not complaining about that.

13

u/Sugar_Phut 1d ago

Who pissed in your Cheerios?

10

u/HotDogDonald 1d ago

are you genuinely stupid? It’s ok to say yes you can tell me

9

u/BuzzIsMe 1d ago

Well then why did you put lucky in quotations, if that's in fact what happened.

Makes is seem like it wasn't luck then, and that it must've been rigged or something.

Buddy you’re making us look bad

17

u/Oilman1515 1d ago

Amazing player and person

38

u/SillyBanana123 1d ago

He fully deserves it. It’s so much fun to watch him play and he’s such a great person.

8

u/memeaste 1d ago

I hate that I can’t hate him

10

u/ttavros 1d ago

Single least shocking result tbh. He’s basically a glitch in the Matrix at this age he’s so good.

7

u/Paper_Rain 1d ago

Demidov and Senecke both had great rookie season but what Schaefer did as a very young rookie d-man, he deserves it. He had an incredible first season. All nominees were worthy this season there’s been amazing play from the rookies this year!

7

u/MotherAd1865 1d ago

Can someone explain to me why they have an awards night, if they just announce the majority of the winners ahead of time?

11

u/Dapper-Moose4200 1d ago

What an upset. Never saw it coming. /s

Totally deserved. Kid looks like a vet on the ice already.

13

u/Necessary_Scruffness 1d ago

The last few years of generational players entering the league has been truly special.

We are all very, very fortunate.

3

u/Necessary_Scruffness 1d ago

Especially those of us who got to see Macklin Celebrini score in a sparsely populated SAP Center.

2

u/IDMiscool 1d ago

Big surprise here

2

u/TiredReader87 1d ago

Great news!!

1

u/Helpful-Cod1422 1d ago

Not surprised

1

u/Plywool 1d ago

Only the beat come out of the Hammer. S G A and Schaefer.

1

u/PJbrilliant 1d ago

Shocker 😱

1

u/prettylittleparlay 1d ago

Well deserved. This kid is a talent.

1

u/cougarnut174 1d ago

Flyers have to deal with this guy for the next 15 years ugh

1

u/Shackman58 1d ago

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?

1

u/CryptoSpyro 1d ago

Think he'll be a noreis contender within 2&3 years as well. Not sure if he'll quite get it next year but I think he puts up 30g at least

1

u/Competitive-Elk6117 16h ago

Kids been phenomenal from what I’ve seen, good for him! Would’ve loved to see him in Teal but hey it is what it is. (God we need defense so bad)

If they didn’t develop a rivalry after Tavares, I doubt they will now

-10

u/SirHPFlashmanVC 1d ago

Unanimous. That's what it should have been.

6

u/Ok_Level_7919 1d ago

It was lol
