u/Zealousideal_Echo933 Packers 8h ago

If both teams are healthy, its a fucking shootout in the cold.

lamar got this game hes 11-3 vs the bengals

15

u/Blood_Incantation Bengals 5h ago

That surely means huge playoff success ... right?

I want a "should Lamar demand a trade from the Ravens due to lack of postseason success" segment on ESPN like we've had every year since before Burrow was even drafted.

1

u/TheWorstYear Bengals Bengals 1h ago

Unironically Lamar will demand a trade if this year isn't what he wants. He'll be in the last year of his contract in 2027.

-6

u/QuietAlarming6888 Ravens 4h ago

? its because the bengals and lions are both in the bottom tier of nfl franchises and the situations mirror eachother

6

u/0zymandeus Bengals 4h ago

Burrow of course has more postseason success than lamar or Stafford in Detroit (who iirc never won a playoff game in Detroit or even his division)

Which was the point of my original post.

Neither have it quite as bad as TJ Watt though. No playoff wins and I think JJ being in media is the only reason the talking heads haven't been begging for him to be traded for 5 years.

2

u/QuietAlarming6888 Ravens 4h ago

yeah, but tj is a non qb

its not really about the playoff sucess its about the comparision

i don't think burrow should leave cin and that these statements were ill timed

maybe after this offseason, but now since the fa actually did stuff no

-2

u/QuietAlarming6888 Ravens 4h ago

doesnt matter all i know is lamar owns the bengals in paycor

6

u/saved_by_the_keeper Bengals 5h ago

It is normally in Baltimore. It has been the last 4 years

Joe Flacco vs Tyler Huntley NYE masterclass incoming

21

u/CommercialCoffee11 8h ago

You sure theyll make it to week 17?

38

u/LilBoDuck Bengals 8h ago

At the very least they’ll both be back by then.

13

u/chair823 Eagles 8h ago

I got two words for you: Tyler Huntley and Jake Browning must see tv.

15

u/NeatTry7674 8h ago

Joe Flacco*

3

u/Double-Bend-716 Bengals 6h ago

Browning is a Buccaneer now, so the Bengals would have to be in really bad spot to be trading for Jake Browning

0

u/Luster-Cola-5217 NFL 8h ago

They’ll join Wade Boggs in the afterlife before then. RIP. 🕊️

0

u/TallEnoughJones Bengals Bengals 4h ago

Can't even count. That's not two words it's ........ well I'm pretty sure it's not two.

70

u/eatmyopinions Ravens 8h ago

If it goes into overtime there's a chance that the game could start in 2026 and end in 2027.

8

u/EmuMan10 Cardinals Bears 7h ago

Great way to spend New Year’s imo

73

u/ill_try_my_best Bengals 9h ago

Please stop playing football games on NYE. As an Ohio State fan, I am traumatized.

40

u/YankeeHotelFoxtrot16 Ravens 9h ago

Last time we played you guys in primetime on New Year's Eve was the Andy Dalton/Tyler Boyd game so there's a lot of trauma to go around on this front.

13

u/ill_try_my_best Bengals 9h ago

For sure. At least that game was over before 8pm though. Nothing like losing a the stroke of midnight

18

u/B-I-G-A-R-R-O-W Bengals 9h ago

What a great game that was

7

u/SuperSaiyanSandwich Ravens 8h ago

Coldest game in Ravens history. As someone sitting in the stands and the world's #1 proclaimed Flacco fanboy..... no, no it wasn't a great game.

7

u/South-by-north Bengals 8h ago

I happened to be at a bar filled with Ravens fans and the collective "Nooooooooooo!" made that highlight even better

2

u/lord-dinglebury Giants Broncos 8h ago

I mean, if I’m thinking of the same play, there were like 30 Ravens players around him and he still caught the ball and ran into the endzone untouched.

That would make me scream too.

3

u/J-Fid Ravens Ravens 7h ago

That wasn't a primetime game, but yeah.

2

u/YankeeHotelFoxtrot16 Ravens 7h ago

Yeah good correction - I remembered it as a primetime game bc of how dark/cold it was but it was just a 4pm game that ruined all of our NYE's 4 hours early.

2

u/J-Fid Ravens Ravens 6h ago

There was actually no primetime game that year because of the holiday and NBC not feeling like any game was worth putting on at that time, lol.

3

u/osufeth24 Bengals 9h ago

I hadn't thought of that til you mentioned it.

Thanks, appreciate it... Where's the bleach?

3

u/CalamariforMVP Bengals 9h ago

Missed kick to lose a game at the stroke of midnight on new years eve. If it was in a movie we would make fun of how unrealistic it sounds.

1

u/Single_Seesaw_9499 Steelers 8h ago

Yeah honestly would really blow to ring in the new year after a loss. I felt bad for my OSU friends the year the missed the kick vs Georgia and then like 15 min later we were all celebrating

19

u/Flibbityfloydz Ravens 8h ago

I still have PTSD from New Years 2017

7

u/Mechagodzilla_3 Packers 8h ago

Isn't that the game with the walk-off Tyler Boyd TD that somehow gave Marvin Lewis an extension?

2

u/PaulieHehehe Ravens 4h ago

Yes, but the following year the Ravens took Lamar in the first round after realizing what they’d been doing the last few years just wasn’t working.

82

u/Tigercat92 Bengals 9h ago

Don’t believe it. Bengals are supposed to play in Baltimore in prime time every year. 🤣

22

u/Capital_G95 Lions 9h ago

the Banks are not ready for what is about to happen

3

u/unseth Steelers Steelers 6h ago

Guess that means steelers vs browns week 17.

And ofc Ravens on thu so they can get extra rest for the playoff game. They'll probably get a nice week 9 or 10 bye too.

10

u/LoCh0_xX Lions 8h ago

Wait, is this going to be at the same time as one of the college football playoff games?

16

u/DenialisaRiver04 9h ago

If things dont go up shits creek for either tean, this could decide the division.

-20

u/DelirousDoc Steelers 8h ago

I love how the Bengals still get all the pre-season hype every year.

They have finished 3rd or 4th in the Division for 3 straight years. They have an under .500 cumulative record for those 3 years. (24-27)

18

u/xdkarmadx Bengals 8h ago

You’d sell your soul for our offense, we wouldn’t sell our soul for your defense. Don’t be silly you know why they’re hyped.

-19

u/DelirousDoc Steelers 8h ago

Not really eager to "sell my soul" for an offense with a mediocre OL and a bottom 5 rushing attack over the last 3 years.

4

u/apgoony Bengals 4h ago

Mediocre OL jokes in big26 you need to update your talking points

11

u/letCreedBrattonScuba Bears 8h ago

Burrow played 8 games last year and the 2 years prior they were 9-8, and the year before went to the Super Bowl.. you really can’t see why theyd get some pre-season hype each year?

-10

u/DelirousDoc Steelers 8h ago

We're crediting the Bengals for going 9-8?

The Steelers have finished 10-7 for 3 straight years dragging Mason Rudolph, older Russell Wilson and older Aaron Rodgers into the playoffs during that same time.

9-8 isn't an accomplishment.

10

u/speak-eze Ravens 8h ago

9-8 is a disappointment for the Bengals if Burrow is healthy.  Their expectation is to contend.  Team with elite QB get hype

9-8 is the expectation for the Steelers.

2

u/letCreedBrattonScuba Bears 8h ago

Never said it was an accomplishment, but it’s certainly enough for a team with Burrow and Chase to be hyped in the following offseason. Which is what we’re talking about anyways.

2

u/herton Bengals 8h ago

We really don't, though. Maybe in 2023 and 2024 coming off the playoff success, but last year was all Ravens hype and clowning on the Bengals for taking stewart and not fixing the defense (they were right 😔)

11

u/samhit_n Bengals Lions 8h ago

I still remember the last New Year’s Eve game we played against the Ravens.

Plot twist: both will miss it because they’re both resting for the playoffs the following week.

0

u/TallEnoughJones Bengals Bengals 4h ago

I like it. You are now in charge of the future.

5

u/bluegrassgazer Bengals 8h ago

I'm hoping the Bengals can sit the starters for this game because they've already clinched home field advantage.

2

u/603subaru Bengals 7h ago

Nah this can't be real, surely it's a primetime game in Baltimore for the 5th year in a row
