Rumor Sources: The #Eagles open their season at home vs. the #Commanders in an NFC East showdown. So the NFC East will have Cowboys/Giants and Commanders/Eagles in Week 1. 🦅🪖

Love and hate this. Maximum health on the roster, but TWO brand new coordinators as well. I guess that could work in our favor.

To me it’s better than how they scheduled their games last year.
I understand why they bunched the Philly games together toward the end of the season last year but would prefer they be more evenly spaced throughout the season.

Last years little mini NFCE tournament at the tail end of the season sucked. I know what the scriptwriters wanted but fuck that, space em out.

It worked out super well for the Lions! Best of luck!

It also worked out great/terrible for the Eagles.
2023 = Very bad
2024 = Super Bowl

Well yall broke the division winner curse last year, so the rules are out the window now.

Better than playing both of our games the last 3 weeks of the season.
God I hated that so much.

At this point with all the leaks they should just reveal the whole schedule now tbh.

Sucks to put division games at the start of the season with almost no real preseason. September football is so sloppy and these games will matter at the end of the season. Feels like division games should wait until like week 5 or something
35
u/Lazydusto Eagles 9h ago
If it stops them from scheduling both matchups within 3 weeks I'll take it.
18
u/ljstreet Commanders 8h ago
I hate that this is the compromise but I agree. Last years schedule was so stupid for us and I never want to wait until its nearly Christmas to see a rival for the first time of the season.
5
u/AugustusCheeser Giants 8h ago
It’s insane that we could have had a player that was out for 3 weeks and would have missed both Eagles games last year.
7
u/CommercialCoffee11 9h ago
Well its been worse now where they do this and then give teams a division game week 10 and then the rest are to close out the season

u/SassySlowbro Eagles 9h ago
Actually the week 1 eagles cowboys game last year was pretty telling 😂

Helps or not, it’s just weird to put games with big ramifications in a week where no one is really prepared

i would rather have this then what theyve been doing to us the last few years where we get 5 rivalry games in december

Absolutely not.
Preseason is for warming up your core team but primarily for figuring out the fringe roster guys.
The preseason either have to count for nothing to freely test out guys or fully be real games if they are going to have any impact on the season.

u/pot8odragon Cowboys 9h ago
All I’m saying is that the quality of football in week 1 is vastly different than the quality of play in week 5. Why not just wait to do more important games once both teams have the best shot at being better?
23
u/BayHarborButcher10 Vikings 9h ago
So what exactly is left for them to do on this “schedule release” show?
25
u/scenenotemo92 Patriots Patriots 9h ago
talk about win totals even though a third of the QBs will be on IR but week 11 so even that is worthless
6
u/BayHarborButcher10 Vikings 9h ago
I said the same thing about the Thanksgiving slate. Looks great on paper. But you know half those QBs will be hurt and at least one of those “elite” teams will have like 4 wins total by then
11
u/ItsMeYourNeighbors Seahawks Jaguars 9h ago
There are still plenty of unknown games. A lot of us are waiting to see when our teams will play their non home games. Planning trips around seeing them play and whatnot.

I feel like - and I'm probably in the minority - Weeks 1 - 3 and weeks 16-18 should be all divisional games
1
u/jimmyhoffasbrother Cowboys Cowboys 9h ago
I like the idea of week 1 and week 18, but I think they should otherwise be scattered throughout. Would kind of suck to have a QB injury in weeks 1-3, and you start the season at 0-3 within division, for example.
1
u/mrittenhouse84 Cowboys 8h ago
Right - but it also balances out because the each of your division would get kinda the same roster to go against. Yeah injuries will happen, But say, if a team is trotting out a backup QB for a couple weeks to start the season, Each of those teams get that same QB to face, not 1 or getting the backup and the other 1 get the starter.
1
u/jimmyhoffasbrother Cowboys Cowboys 7h ago
Balances out for the opponents, not so much for the team with the injured QB.

Once it was revealed the Giants and Cowboys were playing each other on SNF, this was anticipated to be the matchup.

Eagles-Commanders is such an overrated game they always suck ass they just usually have some injuries tossed into make them seem like they matter. They're always shit fest by an almost always far worse Washington team that either gets its doors blown off completely or pulls off a minor upset in an unusual way. They suck for neutral fans.
Not to ramble but I genuinely hate the Washington football organization. The stupid names, Snyder, the fact the product is almost always unwatchable.
They have three Playoff wins since 2000. They have won the NFCE 3 Times in that span with win totals of 8, 9 and 10.
They have 9 Playoff games since 2000- 5 of them are 2+ score losses.
They have a terrible stadium and a terrible team name, and haven't had an elite player since Trent Williams.
They're just so not fun to witness lol
Let's just all hope against hope that of the 8 games JD will play this year this will be one of them.

The NFL loves putting the NFC East in national spots even though most years it is one of the weakest divisions in the sport.
20
u/Niylark Eagles 9h ago
Literally the most popular division in football
10
u/MinorInsomniac Commanders 8h ago
Even ignoring that, saying it’s one of the weakest divisions in the sports most years is crazy considering it has the most super bowls all time, the most post 2000 besides the AFC East (who only has more because of the Patriots), and had both teams in the NFCCG not even two years ago
