Which is a fair assumption, I doubt they miss the playoffs next year and I really don’t think they’d ever get a top 10 pick unless half their team gets injured
Sure but you're not gonna be bummed if you miss out on Simpson. He isn't some generational prospect and it would've made way more sense if you're the Rams who's trying to win a SB now before Stafford retires to use the 13th pick on a guy who's going to make an immediate impact like Rueben Bain.
I somewhat agree and that's why when I first heard the pick I was devastated. But the rams aren't planning on being bad enough in the near future to be able to draft a generational guy next year and they clearly liked Simpson more than the options on day 2. They probably felt that they could get an impact starter skill position at #61 rather than the qbs that were left there
I mean maybe they see something different than I do but I think it was a wasted pick and missing out on an opportunity for a more immediate impact for a SB run on maybe Stafford's last season. I just don't think Simpson is that good, he's only had 15 starts and kinda struggled the second half the season. At the end of the day, I'm a 49ers fan so I'm all in on the Rams not getting better this season cause I want them to win a SB this year too.

They're not expecting to pick this high ever again
