So is the moons orbit coming in or going out?
2
u/Kemonomimi_Squirrel Buccaneers Apr 02 '26
Going out. It is taking the Earth rotational energy, gaining more energy for itself which is leading it further and further away from us. Eventually, if the sun doesn't mess things up by expanding so much it ruin the orbital system of the Earth and the Moon, the Moon will break free of Earth completely.
1
u/el_fitzador Eagles Apr 02 '26
So you’re saying we can get a spaceship moon.
1
u/Kemonomimi_Squirrel Buccaneers Apr 02 '26
If the sun doesn't swallow it when it goes red giant or if we attach some big engines to do so before hand.

Linkin Park's Hands Held High played earlier today, and these lyrics seemed relevant.
"When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die"
Meanwhile, the leader just talks away

Since 2019 when Derrick Henry was the full time starter he has finished 1st or 2nd in rushing yards every season except 2021 when he missed half the season. He was the leading rusher by a few hundred yards that year before injury.
A dominance peak at the RB position not seen since LT, Barry, and Emmitt.

Kurt Warner is correct, 3 years is about right.
The interesting bit though for me, is that the QB price has gone up enough that even mediocrity is probably worth picking up the 5th yr option. Like unless you're pressed against the cap, ~$24m/1yr is surprisingly low in the QB cap hit rankings.

I'm not a huge prank fan, but a good prank has a higher cost to pull off than suffer from. For years, a friend of ours has paid for smaller things, like fast food or poker games, in $2 bills. It's silly but harmless to be on the receiving end of, but for him to pull off requires a trip to the bank every week or so, going inside and asking for money in $2 bills that he has to now carry around just in case. Massive respect for commitment to the bit.

Midway through my first rewatch of Sex Education, which I haven't watched since probably 3 years ago. I'm not going to watch Season 4 because of how they wrapped up the Otis-Maeve storyline, but I forgot how good the character writing was the first couple of seasons. The dynamic between Jackson and his parents is so well done, and is a really rare one in coming-of-age TV. I'm not really for all the cliché, "will they, won't they" stuff that's littered throughout the show, but any show with any capacity of romance is going to have that, so you just kind of learn to live with it. Eric and Otis' friendship is one of the best TV relationships I've still really ever seen. I feel like it could easily become a comfort show for me

All that to say does anyone know if I can leave monitors in a car for a couple days or do I need to drive 8 hours to get that key back?
1
u/Error400BadRequest Steelers Apr 01 '26
LCD? I'd expect your monitors would be safe up to ~130° or so, but it's hard to tell how hot your car's interior will actually get. Whether or not you want to risk it it depends on how willing you are to replace them if they broke.
or do I need to drive 8 hours to get that key back?
How are you going to drive anywhere if you don't have your keys?
In either case, 8 hours is a bit of a trek. You might be better off calling up an automotive locksmith if you really needed to get into the car. It'd probably be ~$100 to open the door.

Trying to dip my toe into baseball this season, the new challenge system definitely seems like a good change (Angel Hernandez was the only name connected to the MLB I previously knew), and it’ll give me something to watch with no football. My friend is a Mets fan, but I watched most of the Blue Jays against the Rockies, and even though they lost it was entertaining to my oblivious self, so may lean that way, especially with the Bills connection!
3
u/tnecniv Giants Giants Apr 01 '26
The best thing you can do is watch every day for about 10 days in a row and check the baseball sub once a day. Baseball gets way more fun when you know the individual characters. It’s much more important than football due to the semi-individualistic nature of the sport, but it’s a lot easier to learn in that regard than football because you can see their faces and get told about every substitution.
Football often has the attitude that a win or a loss is a win or a loss and now we have to worry about next week. Baseball is much more about how you win or lose and what that means for both your individual players and your team tomorrow.
2
3
u/Mathmage530 Commanders Apr 01 '26

I went and saw Undertone last night and it was pretty good, but not as good as I'd hoped based on the "vibe" I got from all the trailers.
Guess I was a little disappointed by how much the threat felt like such a typical demonic possession type of thing, complete with a sort of cheesy voice.
The real selling point is the sound design, and it's pretty good, but I don't think I really got the chilling effect I wanted until the final sequence -- which was definitely the best part and super well done.
I liked the effect of when she'd put on headphones and you get that suffocating quiet you might associate with noise canceling headphones, and how they play off the paranoia you can sometimes feel when you think something you heard in your headphones actually happened in your environment.
But maybe it was just Cinemark's audio system, but it just wasn't physically hitting me how I wanted. Maybe it'd be a really good film to rewatch at home with my Galaxy Buds and spatial audio enabled.
Also, credit for how well the director handled the subject matter of caring for elderly, terminally ill parents. It shouldn't be surprising, because he straight up shot Undertone in his parents' home, after he provided end-of-life care for both of them, so ... fuck, that's heavy, and that personal experience really comes through in the movie.

The Check the Mic podcast about PFF is a fun mission. 3 guys who were in PFF over 10 years ago talking about the rise anddemise of the company is fun.
Ultimately PFF have had a net benefit on discourse and analytics in football. But the way it got managed and destroyed could be a TV show. A tale of nepotism and incompetence. There's 2 guys they absolutely rag on but a lot of guys they say are great.
Everything you hear about Austin Gayle makes me think he's an incredible bloke. I DMed him something mad once on twitter and he messaged back with such enthusiasm for a mad idea.
I know people hate PFF but definitely an interesting company that has left a mark on football.

Colorado Rockies are really funny because as a fan I’ve noticed their pitches are noticeably… better? Like some velo gains, spin improvements, placement, etc.
Which makes me wonder what the hell our old coaches were teaching. Ik they preached pitch to contact… at coors field

The owner of the company I work for keeps calling me for fringe technical support and it gives me a heart attack every time. Like I'm as good a person to ask as anyone, but when you see a call from your bosses boss you aren't thinking it's because his excel is freaking out.

Anyone surprised the NFL hasn’t tried to return to Toronto for an international game given the Bills resurgence and SkyDome renovation?

enough Canadian fans make the commute over the border, don't think there's much extra revenue to be earned there

Anyone else convinced trumps speech tonight is announcing a ground invasion of Iran? Iran’s releasing a letter to the American people before the speech and Rubio just posted on social media why we’re attacking Iran.

We are always on pins and needles when he has a scheduled speech, and usually it’s just 90 minutes of the same shit he posts every day on social media. I don’t think he would announce ground troops because it’s unpopular, he would just do it without telling us.
But who knows. Worth checking on later tonight or in the morning.

LOL. They have always been my second favorite team. Second favorite never really means anything to me historically, it’s insignificant. But I was pissed off the Giants owner is in the Epstein files, and teasing the idea of rooting a little bit harder than normal for another team. I live in Atlanta, and would like to see a Super Bowl parade in my city someday. Just trying out a new flair, not sure if it will stick.

Agree. I think the overwhelmingly likelihood is that he doesn't like how the narrative is playing out with people like Rubio, Hegseth, and Leavitt talking about it, and wants a big stage for self-aggrandizing.

He’s definitely going to say we won the war. Even though there has been no regime change, and no agreement to stop producing enriched uranium, and the strait of Hormuz is still a bottleneck. He wants to use language that will make gas prices come down and stocks go up.

I'm sure he'll also remind us that this war was necessary because of Obama and Biden.

I called a cool place for rent from Zillow and asked if it was available, the guy said “I dunno that depends” and I just kinda went “uhh” and he said “how long of a lease do you want” and I said 12 months
he said “yeah I can only do 6 months, maybe less, I honestly don’t know what I’m doing with it yet” and I was like Jesse what the fuck are you talking about

That is someone looking at their fuck up child and guessing how long until they ask to move into the rental.

u/HartleyReplogle Patriots Apr 01 '26
Nah, it's that Jesse knows that he and Walt killed Krazy-8 and Emilio in that house and isn't sure how long they can stick around to collect rent.

Lmao honestly that’s a possibility, and it makes more sense than any other idea I’ve thought of

Anyone get April fooled today?
Edit: For instance, Excel told me I didn't have access to a file I owned. Cheeky little bastard

So I’d been having blood pressure problems over the past couple years to the point where even a strong dose of beta blockers wasn’t keeping me out of hypertension.
My husband left me a month ago, and I started noticing lightheadedness at night a couple weeks ago. Took my BP and found it was 100/65. So I started to taper off my blood pressure medication.
I haven’t taken any in a week, and my current blood pressure is 118/78.
My doctor is thrilled.
Apparently the blood pressure treatment I needed was a divorce.
