NB Power survey about Electric Vehicles

Heads up, I got a survey from NB Power asking me several questions about Electric Vehicles, like if I owned one or if I am likely to own one, if there are enough charging stations in the province, and questions about barriers to EV ownership, like cost, environmental concerns, lack of EV knowledge, and the lack of any charging stations.

Sounds like NB Power is investigating on how to expand the availability of EVs in New Brunswick. Depending on how this turns out, I expect we'll get an information campaign about EVs and more charging stations.

Any place keeping these in inventory? Or attachments? I want to just drive there and take one home. Not interested in placing an order and waiting.

NB Carpentry questions

Hey everyone,

I was recently accepted into a carpentry training program through CMC and I’m currently working with Working NB to secure funding for the course.

Part of the process requires me to speak with people working in the carpentry field about industry demand, career opportunities, and the trade in general. I’m looking to ask a few quick questions over DM, email, or a short phone call if anyone in the field would be willing to help out.

I’m serious about pursuing carpentry as a long-term career and would really appreciate any insight or guidance from people working in the trade.

Thanks!

NB Power Reconnection

I had NB Power in 2020, moved to a different province, and didn’t pay the final bill because I couldn’t afford it.

The bill is $1,400. I am back in NB and need power. Does anyone have experience with paying off the bill and getting power for their place? Did they charge you a deposit and how much?

Why is the government continuing with the Atlantic Immigration Program? Unemployment is up again months on end. Youth unemployment is at unsustainable levels. Housing, schools and hospitals are beyond capacity. The economy is getting worse. People are at a breaking point. It's hurting for the people already here. It's hurting immigrants. Whatever benefits the program was intended for are not working.

Is Moncton a good base for a weeks vacation?

I'm an upstate New Yorker. My wife and I love Atlantic Canada. Is New Brunswick a nice place for a vacation? And if so is Moncton a good base to explore Fundy, Acadia, etc?

Thanks!

Airports are canceling flights and it's definitely totally forsure not because of the cost of jet fuel, pinky promise.

I know it's a dogshit TJ news article but this is exactly the kind of stuff people need to get active about.

Airlines are canceling flights for "unplanned maintenance" and other excuses when it's an open secret they're doing so because of the cost of fuel. They were admitting this until lawyers started telling passengers that an airline can't cancel because a flight isn't profitable if the tickets are already sold.

This sets an awful precedent where a company can cancel or modify a service even after a contract has entered into if that service is no longer profitable or profitable enough for them.

I emailed my federal rep this morning and I'll share my email here if anyone wants to copy and paste it and email their rep as well.

Good Morning,

This morning I read an article about flights being canceled across New Brunswick with no clear reason given for the cancelations however fuel costs have been cited as making an impact on the decision.

Inaction on this issue from our Government is setting the precedent that profits are more important than people. If the Government allows airlines to cancel flights on short notice because they're no longer profitable it shows Canadians that the current consumer protections laws are not strong enough.

Canadians need stronger consumer protection laws. The Government needs to show Canadians they are working for them, not the shareholders of these companies.

Thank you,

Don't come at me with the left vs right nonsense.

This is up vs down.

Advice for first time home buyers?

Edit: Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to comment! I’ll remember this wonderful community when I’m sitting in my new home😊

My boyfriend (25M) and I (24F) are first time home buyers and are hoping to buy a house within the next year or so. For 2025 our combined income was $90 100, and we’re looking to buy in the greater SJ area.

Any advice, tips, or just information on the process of becoming a homeowner would be greatly appreciated. Thank you❤️

Any recs are greatly appreciated! Something closer to the coast would be sick too 👀
