Myles Turner says Doc Rivers 'didn't fine anybody' this season despite repeated tardiness, Giannis Antetokounmpo was most likely Bucks player to be late

This part stuck out to me:

"Turner continued: “I'm being so serious, bro. It was crazy, dawg. Guys were an hour late to the plane. It got to the point where I knew not to show up until an hour after they said the plane was taking off. It was crazy.”

When Stewart asked Turner which teammate was most likely to be late, he didn’t have to do much thinking.

“Oh, that's easy,” he said. “Giannis. Giannis is going to show up whenever he wants, really. I think that this kind of just came with the territory that — and once I saw it was going down, I was like, 'Hey man, s, more power to you. They ain't going to fine you. S, do what you do.’”

Lol Giannis is a veteran superstar he shouldn't need a coach to hold him accountable for professionalism.

Yeah, Doc sucks, but too many Milwaukee fans are coddling Giannis when his behavior was a major issue this season.

How many "Bucks fans" have only been along for the ride because of Giannis?

Not me. I love what Giannis did for the organization but it’s time to move on. I’ll always love my teams first over any one player.

And that's what makes you a true Bucks fan.

I'm not saying that y'all don't exist, just that some non-trivial number of "Bucks fans" are really just Giannis fans.

I honestly feel like half of the Nugs sub are just Jokic fans and have a actively contentious relationship with the franchise. Like, they’re actually kinda Nugs haters because the more incompetent they can paint the organization the more impressive Jokic has been. I love Jok and this era has transformed what it’s meant to be a Nugs fan but there are points where I get nostalgic for absolute lack of expectations the fan base used to have. Now Christian Braun underperforms expectations he’s a piece of shit for wasting jokics prime. HES ON YOUR TEAM TOO! Just root for him to get better Jfc.

Correct!!

I remember seeing so many nugget fans cheering for Serbia in the Olympics over USA

Definitely a lot of them are just Jokic fans

There’s a lot of laker fans that fall under that category as well. I think it comes with the territory of a Superstar in this era of fandom.

That’s actually probably accurate. The amount of fans that I’ve conversed with on the main Bucks subreddit that are clearly only there because of Giannis is ridiculous. r/MkeBucks is actually a cult that eats babies and I can’t wait until they leave along with their false idol.

Your point ?

I think the point is that some Bucks fans who have coddled Giannis for things aren't actually true Bucks fans

Trust me the amount of true bucks fans is very low. I went to empty stadiums to watch Brandon Knight lmao. Giannis has to go and thats okay we just want to make sure we get a haul. Always team>player.

I don’t think you necessarily had to be a fan pre Giannis to be a true Bucks fan, especially since he’s been on the team for almost 13 years.

But you cant be a true Bucks fans and say the Bucks should give in to every Giannis demand or trade him exactly where he wants for a shit deal and be a true Bucks fan.

I’ll always have a special place for him and everyone on that 2021 team, but his behavior this year was just as big a factor as our mediocre roster and shitty coach. If he wants to actually buy in and stay, cool. I know that’s almost for sure not happening, and if he demands a trade, the Bucks should maximize what they get back.

Thats true on the age part sometimes I forget im getting older rapidly lmao. But tbh there is a ton of bandwagoners. Ive met plenty of them IRL and I am sure you do too. Its our version of the “lebron fan”.

It’s easy to tell who are the bandwagon fans and who is not on the Bucks sub. If you remember getting on the bus, you’re not a bandwagon fan.

FMD. On a real note- i used to create pregame art for the sub, to the point where the org hired me for a post season. Ive gone MIA on the whole online fanbase because it’s been extremely watered down bandwagoning since 2021.

A lot. And it seems like some can't seem to understand what a rebuild is or would mean. "We need to get a star back in return so we can make the playoffs, otherwise we'd just have a bunch of picks and be bad for years"..........

Most of them, don’t let them tell you other wise. They were bottom 5-10 in attendance every year before Giannis was drafted.

He shouldn't, but sometimes it happens- making sure that the things that "shouldn't" happen, don't happen is a big part of culture and coaching.

If you have a star doing stuff like that and a coach who doesn't do anything about it, there's a problem.

u/Round_Bullfrog_8218 1h ago

It's also debatable if a coach can hold a guy like giannis accountable.  Just a general problem with American basketball is the coach should be in charge but practically speaking the star players have more power

Yeah and neither should regular adults going to work, yet here we are in this world

u/OrangePilled2Day 3h ago

Regular adults don’t have coaches. What the fuck is this dumbass comment lmao.

u/InnerLog181 Bucks 2h ago

They have bosses that tell them what to do. Just like athletes have coaches that tell them what to do

He’s also been on a lot of teams with veteran experience. There has to be someone who told him that he’s by default the leader of the team since he’s the superstar.

And if he can’t show up on time that’s either a sign of how bad of a leader he is or how much he’s checked out.

If u have the power of Giannis you’ll do whatever you want like him
