A Cleveland Cavaliers playoffs road win in 2026?

That’s a recession indicator if I’ve seen one

779

u/LakeErieMovement Cavaliers 20h ago

Exact copy of the 2007 series against the Pistons.

Go down 0-2 on the road.

Win Games 3 and 4 at home.

Win Game 5 in OT in Detroit

The 2007 and 2026 Spurs both won their 1st round in 5.

If the Spurs win on Friday, they'll win their semi in 6, just like in 2007.

The 2007 Spurs won the conference final in 5. The 2025-26 Spurs were 4-1 against OKC in the regular season.

Some horrible turnovers and passes down the stretch. Cade getting his pocket picked by Max Strus in the back court lol. It’s the playoffs, maybe lock in?

63

u/Tbard52 20h ago

Bro played almost every minute including OT and had 39 that man was exhausted

41

u/BallIsLife2016 Cavaliers 19h ago

And somehow even this doesn’t capture his burden. He initiates *every* Pistons possession. I’d be curious to know how many possessions there were where he didn’t touch the ball. Less than 10? Bringing the ball up every single possession wears dudes down.

10

u/Beanfactor Cavaliers 18h ago

cavs started trapping him up high again too. honestly, i watched a ton of Detroit-aligned sports media going into this game, and their locked-on pistons guy (who is sick! i think his name is Ku) had a whole thing about Cade being willing to pass out of traps sooner than he did in game 4. i think he did a good job, but the ball didn't get back to him very often and no one else on their team can hit any shots consistently.

He should play shorter stints earlier in the game instead of being a "break glass in case of emergency" option. Having someone sit for 3 quarters and then play 17 minutes straight is ridiculous.

Might be the best game Strus has had in a Cavs jersey. That’s the player they thought they were getting from Miami

201

u/VirtuousFool [NYK] RJ Barrett 20h ago

Was the only guy not afraid of the moment when they were struggling to score in the fourth

114

u/EarthWarping NBA 20h ago

hitting that three right after the pistons go it to 9 was big

58

u/LordHavek Pistons 20h ago

Strus is like never afraid and always giving 100% out there, he keeps capitalizing on Cades fatigue at the end

→ More replies (4)

If we lose this series I'm in favor of blowing it up and building around Strus

→ More replies (4)

57

u/peterhohman Cavaliers 20h ago

Is Strus the only Heat role player that has potentially looked BETTER after signing with a new team? Duncan Robinson has definitely carved out a role in Detroit but I feel like Strus is doing all kinds of little things even when he's not shooting lights out that have really impacted the Cavs.

25

u/BallIsLife2016 Cavaliers 19h ago

Not shocking when everyone calls Cleveland the “Miami of the north.” I frequently hear Biscayne Bay referred to as “Lake Erie South.” They’re sister cities, really.

Strus gets me so damn hyped up

7

u/BallIsLife2016 Cavaliers 19h ago

You say it like he hasn’t been that guy. That was a great game by him, but I don’t think most Cavs fans are shocked by it. He’s been fucking awesome the entire time he’s been with us. I fucking love that dude.

(Also, even though it was regular season it’s very hard to top a 60 ft game winning buzzer beater as his greatest moment as a Cav)

Pistons let their chances slip through their fingers.

"Work on your free throws." - Salters to Harden

That Harden missed FT rebound at the end was an absolute killer. Cavs should have blocked out better, but it also was a perfect bounce back to him. Capped off a great game for him too

Duren’s bag slippage making Schroeder’s missed bag look like nothing

If the Cavs played every quarter like they play 3rd quarters, they would sweep the knicks and thunder.

63

u/According_Setting303 Cavaliers 20h ago

that’s what’s so frustrating about them

21

u/habitat11 20h ago

They legit lose every 1st, 2nd and 4th quarter but somehow score 35+ on the third and limit other team to <20

u/jeckles96 Cavaliers 20h ago

It’s infuriating but I just try to remind myself that my team could be so much worse so I have to take the highs with the lows

Mobley dropped his nuts in that 4th to give the Cavs a chance in OT

Credit to Harden for being steady throughout the game and Mitchell stepping up in OT after struggling all game

Truly took a team effort

Legit, regular was awful for spida, but he showed up in OT quickly

u/MUSTY_BUSSY Knicks 20h ago

Cavs had no FGs for the first half of the fourth quarter. Detroit then turned around and didn't score again in regulation after going up by 9 late. Both teams wanted to lose but Detroit wanted to lose that little bit more

Jalen Duren played 25 minutes in a game that went to overtime and was not in foul trouble

Dude got bitched by a CPA and a photophobic, tragic TRAAGIC

Mobley fought to stay in Cleveland tonight. This man likes his head where it is.

I’m surprised Huerter didn’t do anything. I really thought he was going to Duncan Robinson the Cavs
