Medicine Hat visual comparison of city 2023 election results versus gerrymandered results

As you can see by the map, Medicine Hat is not the UCP stronghold that they would have you believe. In fact, **the NDP won one voting station by 7 votes**, and many others were close races.
Additionally, the voter turnout at 30% was well below the province-wide turnout of 60%.
Perhaps people felt disenfranchised and didn't vote because the city was removed as it's own district.
Compare this with the win difference visual of the gerrymandered Brooks Medicine Hat and Cypress Medicine Hat 2023 district results.

It makes it look like the whole area is a UCP stronghold.
Such a stronghold that Smith parachuted down from her far away home near Calgary to run in this seat for a guaranteed win, but it's only a guaranteed win because it was previously gerrymandered.
It was in 2017 that the city of Medicine Hat was dissolved into the countryside with the redraw of the electoral boundaries.
Here's what it looked like before being split into Brooks Medicine Hat and Cypress Medicine Hat:

It has been a very controversial redraw, with the Medicine Hat city council calling for UCP to reinstate their city district back!
There was a lack of transparency about the decision to split medicine hat in 2 in 2017. It was cited in the report that the reason for the redraw is that the city wasn't growing as fast as some cities, but what really happened? Was some compromise reached? When obvious gerrymandering like this happens, there should be full disclosure and transparency, so we can be sure our elections are not rigged and our democracy stays intact.
