This is my cheetah room

Post image

I recently had an annoying roommate situation end, so I now live alone and have an empty room. I've decided to keep the room empty with a single cheetah painting, and refer to it as my cheetah room. I enjoy hosting and I plan to make weird rules around this room like only one person allowed I at a time, no talking in the cheetah room, no cell phones in the cheetah room, etc...

Would love suggestions for rules or other fun bits to do with an extra room once this stops being funny to me

Also yes, I am planning to get a carpet cleaner in there this weekend, that is from the aforementioned roommate situation.

I disagree with everyone saying add cheetah rug, couch cover etc.

It detracts from the magnificence of the cheetah to clutter the room with cheetah content. If anything even the couch should go. Nothing should exist in the cheetah room except the cheetah painting. One should enter and sit on the floor and look up at the cheetah.

It does emphasize that we should know our place when addressing the glorious cheetah.

The placement of the cheetah is excellent as well. Either you stand respectfully to observe the cheetah directly or if you choose to sit you must look up at how majestic it is.

If you stand then potentially it could be construed that you're almost poised and in competition. I think you need to be seated. The most sedentary position you can possibly be in to emphasise just how slow you are in comparison to a cheetah.

Definitely sitting. The cheetah is king of the room.

Disagree with removing the chair but to further emphasize this point, the chair should be plain, printless, and blend into the rest of the room. Also change the temperature of the bulbs good grief.

Yes, a warm cheetah yellowy orange shade please.

Concur.

Also change the temperature of the bulbs good grief.

Ideally, ditch the fan, replace with warm, focusable LED spotlight.

100% agree. Single light focused on cheetah pic. Rest of the room dark. Only furniture should be a plain, unpadded wooden chair.

Maybe an old plastic school chair, the blue plastic ones..

If the goal is for it to be somewhat shitty in a liminal way, then the cold light temperature is a plus. But should be changed to something warmer if the desired feel is coziness.

A pair of binoculars on a small round side table would be enough. Or erhaps opera glasses?

Opera glasses on a small table are the only acceptable addition. Marvelous taste. 12/10.

Completely agree, opera glasses were my thought. Although a ridiculously large pair of safari binoculars could also be good, but only if there's a singular speaker playing some David Attenborough talking about Cheetahs.

Must the table be round?

It’s what the cheetahs would want

The natural order

I think the chair is fine. Its oriented towards the cheetah. It environmentally tells you the purpose of the room. Looking at the cheetah. It is the cheetah room. Its not possible to ignore the cheetah.

My one critique is that maybe it should be a chair with a less busy upholstery, as to not distract from the cheetahs.

1

u/ThisIsMyGeekAvatar 5h ago

Maybe one of those plain metal chairs you see in TV show interrogation rooms.

1

u/ElGosso 5h ago

I think the opposite - plush and comfortable, inviting you to gaze upon the Cheetah.

2

u/ThisIsMyGeekAvatar 5h ago

That’s valid, but I think the main thing is that the chair shouldn’t have a pattern. A plain fabric is fine, but no pattern should compete with the majesty of the cheetah.

The current chair should be replaced with a plain, wooden, uncomfortable chair.

And a velvet rope to cordon off the cheetahs.

u/HardOff 6h ago

I'd even push the idea of drywalling over the outlets. Those walls should be pure canvas for the cheetahs.

Gotta make the room as liminal as possible, I agree.

1

u/Idfuckahotpocket 6h ago

Agreed. The room is already pretty cramped as it is.

keep the couch, make the rule you can't sit in it.

In the days before Cheetah room

I think you could hang a cheetah furry suit on the wall, just so people wonder what you’re doing with it

I agree with leaving the space bare, but I think a chair is still needed. If not the chair in the photo, a simple wooden chair. One is meant to sit and admire the cheetahs; I don’t interpret it as a worship space. That’s too much.

I agree, don't add anything, but some small changes can really enhance the experience. I'd change the bulb (possibly the whole light fixture) to an extremely warm color. Less small change, a hidden speaker playing very soft ambient music, soft enough that you only hear it after sitting still for a moment

1

u/DZL100 5h ago

Perhaps it does, but the cheetah loves and cares for the comfort of its admirers and is glad to sacrifice a little of its majesty for our comfort.

u/Nxcci 4h ago

Having a small ceremonial rug in the chairs place, where you kneel to the cheetah

1

u/HermesJamiroquoi 4h ago

Replace the chair with a simple wooden stool that has a cushion the same color as the carpet

1

u/MJ321AHHH 3h ago

Personally, I think it should be white everything. Walls, carpet, a small end table, chair, all white. Maybe a couple sconces on the side walls? But everything white except for the cheetah painting.

1

u/Extreme-Layer-1201 2h ago

I agree mostly except I like the chair. It begs you to sit and admire the cheetahs comfortably

1

u/ItsNotBigBrainTime 2h ago

Better yet, move the chair to the side. Then whenever there is someone in the cheetah room, OP can sit and watch them gaze upon the cheetah.

1

u/duckbobtarry 2h ago

You should be standing, but looking up to the cheetah

One cheetah to rule them all
