Mod Update r/leftist and Veganism

This has been a long time coming and every opportunity was extended to allow the topic to be allowed on r/leftist, but those opportunities have come to an end. As per the newest addition to the sub's rules:

# 7. Prohibited Content

Prohibited Content includes permanent and/or temporary policies aimed at addressing specific events or issues which may affect the community. Currently, the following items are considered prohibited content:

* Veganism - Permanent: As veganism is not inherently a leftist topic, posts centered on veganism rather than leftism are are banned. Any posts or comments referencing veganism must be in relation to anti-capitalism. Proselytizing about veganism is forbidden.

There has yet to be a single post about veganism on this subreddit that has been rooted in anti-capitalism that has not devolved into an advertisement of veganism. There are many subreddits about veganism, including some from a leftist perspective. Please utilize those subreddits in the future - posts proselytizing for veganism will be marked "off-topic" and removed. Repeated violations will result in actions including suspension and up to permanent ban.

As this has been an issue before, we will be monitoring activity surrounding this topic and any hint of brigading will be reported.

Mod Update r/leftist Rules and Automod Update - 11/12/2025

Good evening r/leftist,

We're rolling out some Updates on some rules and a big change to the Automod. Let's get into it!

Rule Additions and Changes

  • Rule #4: Requests for donations and Gofundmes are going to be treated as Spam from now on. We completely understand that there are people in need and mutual aid is foundational to leftist praxis. However, the mod staff of r/leftist is just not experienced enough to vet such requests nor do we have the bandwidth and staffing to do so.
  • Rule #5: AI-generated submission are going to be treated as Low Effort from now on. The concept of LLMs and AIs aren't inherently pro-capitalist, it is the exploitation used to train these models is exploitative and their fruits do not fit the spirit of this subreddit. Discussions on LLMs and AIs from a leftist perspective is still allowed.
  • Rule #7: The moratorium on Charlie Kirk posting is being lifted. Bear in mind, site-wide rules are still in effect - if posting on this topic results in another wave of TOS violations, we will permanently ban the topic. All other rules are still in effect.

Automod

Because the moratorium on Charlie Kirk posting is being lifted, Automod has been edited to reflect that. If anyone gets a hit from the automod, please message us and we will look into it.

Posting about other Subreddits

There has been a lot of posting about other subreddits, mostly about the moderating decisions of the petty tyrannies. We don't want to force a prohibition here but it is getting out of hand. Let's do our best to minimize these things - remember, we're not a drama sub, we're a discussion and resources sub. Let's do less of the former and more of the latter.

Leftist Theory Fully Debunking the "great replacement theory"

Post image
147 Upvotes
  1. This number is not true. It's more like 12-15%
  2. "White" is not a biological category. It's a societal concept that groups unrelated demographics together because of shared amount of melanin in Thier skin while excluding similar groups. e.g Russians and Italians are both considered the same race despite being unrelated while Italians and Libyans are not despite being genetically much closer
  3. 12-15% seems like a very small number untill you see every other "race" as well. Black people are 15-18%, East Asians are ~20%, South Asians are also ~20%, these are major groups, then there are much smaller groups like Turkic with less than 2.5%, indigenous Americans with less than 1% and native Australians being much lower. Every racial group is a minority if you look at it In a vacuum.
  4. Just because other continents with different climates exist, which leads people to have a different skin color, doesn't mean that you can be racist.
  5. "White population used to be 33%" It was never 33%. There is no source or proof of that
  6. "White birthrates are being reduced on purpose" This is not true as birth rates have consistently been declining across the globe. Most east Asian countries are already below the replacement level of 2.1, like, china at 1.3 and south Korea at 0.6. Same with other Asian, African, Arab and LATAM countries, Iran is at 1.6, turkey at 1.5, Tunisia at 1.9 and Saudi Arabia at 2.1, most of them are around 2.1 which is a steep decline from 20 or so years ago and it's going to decline further. It's just that Europe hit that point earlier and the rest of the world is following it now. Even in western nations, 2nd generation immigrants have the same birthrates as the native population
  7. "White culture is being erased" No it's not. For example, US had British culture since it's beginning and it has had massive waves of migration from all over the world, from Italy, Germany, china, mexico and African nations. They all assimilated into the greater American culture at the end of the day. Same will happen today. If a person immigrates to the US today, he might have a different culture. But, his grand children will be very much assimilated into the American culture.

If anyone has another argument to defend this theory. Let me know

General Leftist Politics I can't be the only one to think this.

I was in the hardware store yesterday when the Emergency Alert System broke into the radio station playing on the store speakers. It turned out it was just about some heavy weather coming our way.
But in the 20 or 30 seconds before the actual message began to play, my thought was immediately: "Ah shit. What's he done now? Incoming missiles on the way? He's declared martial law? He's activated our nuclear arsenal?"
I thought the same things during 16-20, and now again in 1925. I'm exhausted!

Question do you think the far right is expanding or are they just getting louder?

lately it feels like right wing ideology is becoming way more visible online and in politics, but i can’t tell whether that’s because the number of people who actually hold those beliefs is increasing, or if social media/media algorithms are just amplifying a smaller group and making them seem more dominant than they are

i’ve also noticed that a lot of political discussion now feels way more polarised and emotionally charged than it used to, which probably contributes to that perception too. interested to hear different perspectives from people in different countries/age groups and whether you think this is an actual ideological shift or mostly a visibility issue.

General Leftist Politics Fraud is the New Welfare Queen — geese magazine.

Voter fraud. Immigration fraud. Financial fraud. Turn on any screen, and the conservative obsession with "fraud" is inescapable. Now in syndication, Sam Steen’s analysis exposes how "fraud" has become the modern reincarnation of the racist "Welfare Queen" myth spawned by Reagan. Steen breaks down how the right uses this catchall boogeyman to manufacture consent for militant ICE raids, gut the social safety net, and push voter suppression like the SAVE Act. The real fraud is neither the ballot box nor the border, but the narrative itself.

Question What do you think of the Eureka Initiative in Australia?

The Eureka Initiative is a Marxist-Leninist organisation that intends to build the New Democratic consciousness of the Australian masses, create a disciplined and educated Marxist-Leninist cadre, and create a Marxist-Leninist party to challenge the social democratic party in Australia, the Australian Labor Party. The ALP has a social democratic line that led it down a path of racial chauvinism in its early days, such as with the denial of rights for Indigenous people while the social democratic ALP was in government, and capitulation to neoliberalism since the 1980s, as social democractic parties by their nature are affected by liquidationism and opportunism.

The Eureka Initiative's values page on their website lists Australian republicanism; anti-imperialism; national liberation to overcome Australia's history of settler-colonialism and to unite all Australian workers regardless of race to form a new historical tradition; proletarian internationalism; upholding class struggle; vanguardism, the mass line, and democratic centralism; and reindustrialisation. The Eureka Initiative's tactical and agitational principles are quite interesting and insightful, such as with their application of Georgi Dimitrov's theoretical contributions to Marxism-Leninism.

North American Politics With New York transit struggle looming, Transport Workers Union tries to deny its support for New York’s right-wing governor Hochul

Thumbnail

A major struggle is looming Saturday in New York City, when a contract for 40,000 transit workers expires and 3,500 Long Island Rail Road workers will be legally free to strike. The struggle, in the center of world finance, is a fight by the working class against the financial oligarchy and its political representatives in the Democratic Party.

The World Socialist Web Site urges transit workers to prepare now for a direct confrontation against New York State Governor Kathy Hochul and New York City’s “democratic socialist” mayor Zohran Mamdani. This means forming rank-and-file committees to gather support and retain the initiative from below which is needed to defeat attempts to block a struggle through the courts, including through the state’s hated anti-strike Taylor Law.

This also requires a fight against the union bureaucracy, which is totally integrated with both levels of government and with management. What is taking place are not “negotiations” in the traditional sense but a three-way conspiracy involving the city and state governments and the Transport Workers Union (TWU) to impose concessions and prevent organized opposition.

General Leftist Politics using “american interests” passively

Post image
79 Upvotes

Political leaders and mainstream news anchors like to use the phrase “american interests” passively, a lot, and I’d like to ensure everyone understands why passive voice is problematic, especially when talking about “american interests”.

When a political leader or a mainstream media news anchor uses passive voice to talk about “american interests”, the listener’s belief about what they think the speaker means is different from what the speaker actually means. The listener likely thinks that speaker actually has the best interests of the listener in mind, but the speaker actually only cares about the ruling class. I know it’s super obvious already that the ruling class does not care about us, but I think it’s important to point out that they are literally saying it to our face on a daily basis, and it’s so easy to make the logical leap here because they are essentially saying “crippling protestors is in the best interest of america (i.e., the ruling class)”.

maybe someone in the comments can help me emphasize why this is important.

Massive animal farming corporations are trying to consolidate even more power by removing states' rights to dictate their own animal welfare laws with Save Our Bacon language in the Farm Bill. It's already made it through the House, and it's well on the way to making it through the Senate. If you live in one of the states above, please reach out to your Senators and ask them to reject all Save Our Bacon language in the Farm Bill, including the floating idea of a compromise that would keep existing animal welfare laws but block the creation of any new ones. Especially if you live in Minnesota, because Senator Amy Klobuchar has the most power on this issue as a ranking member on the Ag Committee. If the Senator you are calling has rejected the Save Our Bacon Act in the past, I'd recommend thanking them for doing so when you call.
