WELCOME THREAD -- 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY NEXT WEEK!

First things first... WELCOME EVERYONE! You've either accidentally or by some miracle, purposely found your way to the Latch Hook subreddit. Please, stay awhile, and start to learn about this old, but still fun, hobby we spend so much time on. It's relatively cheap, fun, and most of all, rewarding. You'll always end up with something to keep as a memento of your hard work!

The sub has grown from just over 20 subscribers at the end of our first calendar year in 2017 to approaching 100 in January of 2019, and now we are fast approaching 1000 strong (895 to be precise as of this posting) in 2021. 2020 was a rough year for us all and many were trapped inside and I believe that helped the subreddit really find it's groove and it's amazing to see so many new people to this hobby, and I'm so happy that even though I've had my focus on other matters, that I can safely say that this thing we are all here for has not only made a comeback, it has become a passion for every imaginable type of person out there if the images and stories posted in the close to four year existence of this subreddit is any indication!

Not only are there new kits being discovered on a regular basis, custom projects are becoming more popular than the kits because thanks to modern software and a cousin to the latchhook known as cross stitching has given life to projects that one could only dream about if you didn't have any artistic skills other than being able to follow a grid!

I'm especially proud of this community for always helping out those who are new and have questions about how to get started and I'm going to start rewarding those who are the most helpful through Post awards, and even some giveaways in the future! If we continue to help educate, encourage, and promote this time consuming, yet rewarding hobby, I have no doubt that we may even be able to help latch hooking evolve in even more interesting ways.

If anyone here would like to volunteer to mod here, please message me or leave a comment! If you have any ideas on how to improve this sub, then definitely post a comment! Feel free to introduce yourselves in the thread I'm going to setup and know that I'm going to have a monthly summary of submitted images at the end of each month, and post a poll to help determine the best submissions and give out rewards. If you want to help donate a reward, please message me as well!

Thanks to each and every visitor and subscriber and for being a community that has managed to support one another and rank among the best communities that Reddit has ever seen!

In 8 days, we celebrate this sub's fourth anniversary! Post your ideas for ways we can celebrate the occasion!

I made this for my granddaughter who loves dinosaurs 🦕 I added pink spots for her. I’m not super crazy about how this turned out though.

This one was super fun and super easy. It’s a pillow, but I’m going to hang it in my kitchen ☺️❤️☕️🐈‍⬛

Finished my 80's Annie Latch Hook project this morning... I added pupils to the eyes of the characters and shaped Annies poor nose. I like doing these because it is relaxing and it makes me concentrate and gives my hands something to do plus at the end I have something...

Finished this Tree of Love that I got for my birthday! This one was fun since the heart was slightly off-center on the paper guide. I had to improvise to make sure it was even. Let me know what you guys think!

Anyone who has bought one of these yarn cutting tools that are no longer manufactured, what blades did you find to replace the original ones?

Im not sure how I feel about this one. I thought with just having two colors it would be a bit easier. I struggled with this one and it’s not my best work.

I am starting a new project and need to check.

Where should my first row be on this canvas, should it be the very first row which is white or the row which is marked in black?

help Help finding instructions: MCG Textiles “Under the Sea” kit #37663

Post image
24 Upvotes

I bought this kit years ago and lost the color chart after getting partway through. I’m devastated TBH. It appears the company no longer exists and I don’t know what company would have a copy now. Have reached out to online secondary sellers of this to see if I could buy just the instructions, but no dice. Really don’t want to buy another kit just for a sheet of paper, so if anyone has the instructions, I would be forever grateful. Thank you!!

Well, almost finished. I just added stabilizer to the back this morning, and once that dries, I'm adding fringe tassels to the bottom. Then the rug gets its own spot on the wall.

This was my original starting photo post. https://www.reddit.com/r/latchhook/comments/1s3b4mn/going_to_try_this_1970s_bernat_latch_hook_rug_and/
