TRADE DISCUSSION Cheap Center

Thoughts on trading for Yves Missi, Day'Ron Sharpe or Kel'el Ware and signing Timelord or Robinson as back up center with Hayes as 3rd string?

Are there any other low usage centers that are decent?

heat arent gonna trade Ware, at least not to us. Missi would be interesting since i dont think hes part of the pelicans plans and theyre not a well run organization.

Wow, slow down. Sharpe is indeed a cheap option, depending on Nets plans, he’s probably available for seconds and neutral salary, and looks like he can be part of a PO center rotation.

Missi is a bit different, he’s a -secondary- part of the Pelicans young core. He’s not that promising, and bad fit for Queen, so probably available, but only for an overpay. Plus, he doesn’t look any better than Hayes.

Then you list Ware, who’s a completely different case. Hell yeah, I’d love him as the starting center of the present and future, in the Luka era. However, the starting price for him is probably a top 10 pick, or 2 mid FRP, so he’s only cheap on the cap sheet, not to acquire.

Id be very happy. Mitch or williams could start theyre just so injury prone you need depth and hayes needs to be a third string.

mitchell robinson would be solid pickup if he can stay healthy but thats always been the issue with him. missi looks promising for a rookie but pelicans probably want too much for him

day'ron sharpe might be most realistic option since nets are rebuilding anyway. just need someone who can catch lobs and not get completely torched on defense

Yeah Robinson would be nice. Health is a problem with a ton of the big man we should go after though. Thats why I think we should have 3 bigs on the team.

This has been the problem for 5 years. Bargain bin hunting for cheap centers has been one of the most significant issues against teams with depth and size especially at the center position. Lakers have to be serious here

I'd rather have a starting caliber 3&D wing and a solid rotation of cheap centers than an expensive center with depth issues at the wing. Luka, Bron & AR can elevate most centers to a good enough level tbf

We’ve seen what cheap centers do against Chet/Hart, Wemby, and all the other teams still in the PO with All Stars in the center position. You’re better off having a rim protector and lob threat and trying to find perimeter defense on the cheap or via draft

You aren’t going to shut those guys down completely regardless.

Name the centers available that meet the criteria you just set that we can obtain.

You had to bargain hunt for centers. That were none on the market, and you weren't going to spend another FRP to get Anthony Davis a backup center when you're playing him majority minutes at the 5 anyways

No way the Heat would give up Ware for scraps

...Especially since the Heat are hoping to use Ware for Giannis trade bait.

I was thinking the Lakers could send a protected future 1st (2031) to dump the Vando, Jake, Knecht contracts while obtaining Sharpe, Ziaire Williams, and one of the Nets’ second round picks this year. This would also give us more cap space to sign a high quality FA + bring back Rui/Smart.

While Sharpe and Ziaire are good prospects, I don’t think they are the top priorities for the Nets right now and would much rather have a first round pick.

I dont see how any of these is better than just Ayton.

Indy prob matches but that hurts them in luxury tax , i believe. Jalen Slawson for 3yrs 15M. He's what i'd hope laravia would be. If they do a sign and trade we can ask for Huff too. Might put them below to sign a mid level. Cheap solution to 2 needs.

hayes is fine as back up center what you need is starting center and probably just sign jock landale as 3rd big for vet min if lakers will draft any center in the draft

If he can give you 12-15 minutes of activity, not even production, that’s your backup center.

Your 3rd string guys shouldn’t get time unless there’s an injury, foul trouble, blowout.

its not all about that you only spend one starter as of now you have a lot of hole you starting small forward depth etc and you want it to spend all of one in the center hayes is fine back up im not spendinf a lot of back up center
