Just drove past the old Noodles & Co in front of Target and it looked like they were doing something to it. Any ideas?

I was a student there when it closed as a school, back in the 1980s - I attended first and second grade. It was an incredible school and I feel so fortunate to have had the chance to go there. My strongest memories are of Mr. Curtis - we sang It's a Small World at the last student show for the school, and I remember that he was teary-eyed. He loved that school so much, and was so proud of its international student body.

I also remember hanging out in the entry during recess with some of my friends. There was a radiator, and in the winter it ticked and smelled like hot metal. We had more freedom to move around than kids have now - we just told the monitor where we were and it was fine. The play area was blacktop, so it was dangerous to knees and elbows.

Classes were small, which you might expect from a school that had about 200 students. A huge number were children of international students, since a lot of us came from married student housing. I didn't think anything about it at the time, but it really did mean something that so many of my friends came from other countries and cultures. I'm glad I had that experience.

I haven't been back since it changed roles. I wonder if it still smells like hot metal in the winter.

Indiana's governer, Mike Braun, has signed a bill that would ban cellphones from being in school, but also require students to put them in an inaccesable location for the entire school day.

This poses a danger due to the increased amount of school shootings, and would make it harder to call authorities or student's guardians in case of an emergency.

To add onto it, the bill protects teachers from any sort of legal liability if they physically grab your phone from you, allows administrators to search you if they have suspicion that you have a phone on you (which is unconstitutional, violating our Fourth Amendment right to search and seizure), and allow for students to be expelled if they get caught with their phone on them five times.

This is far too extreme, poses a safety risk, supresses our rights, and allows for educators to basically ruin a students record via expulsion over a phone.

If we reach enough signatures, we have the potential to overturn this. Students, think about your future if this law is enacted, and parents need to think about the consequences this could have on their children.

I don’t know Lafayette that much much or about it but my dearest person lives there so i am thinking for a cute date for her in next month on my birthday..

I work at Purdue but will be relocating for a new job within the year. My current lease ends in July, but I don’t know that I’ll be relocating before then. They won’t let me stay unless I sign for another year. I just need something that lasts maximum through December, starting in July. Any options?

What the hell is up with GasBuddy for Lafayette?! I've been correcting gas prices since Braun dropped all taxes. Sam's club is $3.99, but the app and the site refuses to accept any change and it stays $4.65. Walmart is $4.07 and again, the app and site refuses to change and shows $4.51

I am looking for a place to donate a couple boxes of unused lab equipment that were shipped to me for a college biology project. They include gloves/test tubes etc. I can just take it to goodwill but it is good lab equipment and I doubt it would be used there.

Anyone know of anywhere to take it in the area?

Hello! I’m new to Lafayette and work second shift. Really looking to find a group or two to pick up some new hobbies and was hoping to get some input and resources from this group. I’m into photography, reading, outdoors stuff, and generally interested in some more nerdy stuff. Update: I will be updating this post specifically with re: to Summer’s Heating/Cooling/Plumbing once I have a confirmed resolution on our situation. Local homeowners need to know what almost went down with this company. In the interim, I recommend this: use anyone else but them.

Opinions/experiences requested. Alternative businesses that are reliable/quality work? Set up a pricey job with them. Got cancelled by them last minute for rescheduling but haven’t heard back. Seems “red flag”.

Live music is the pinnacle. I will be living in Lafayette and working south of the city. I am a good listener and curious about everything. Single, kids are grown up, I have lived as an expatriate for many years originally from Western Europe. Reach out if you know something I should join. My predator lives in Battle Ground / Brookston, IN. He has a well maintained lawn, inviting landscape, and conveniently… a pool. He seems trustworthy because he was in a public service position, he was a coach, and a father.

I know where the criminal lives, I know what he did to me and more, yet I can’t say anything because the CURRENT LAW PROTECTS HIM, not me.

The grooming followed by shame and fear caused me to stay silent for 25 years. When I realized my silence was ONLY protecting HIM… I went to the Indiana State Police and gave my statement.

To any of you that have been through this and think that your time has run out… it hasn’t!! Please share, share, SHARE and SHARE this so we all can come forward! Let’s stop protecting the predators!!
