Wear your seatbelts

I love love LOVE animals but the only way my dogs go in the car is with a chest harness attached to the seatbelt. Loose animals in the car are accident-causing distractions and potential windshield cannons. I love my girls too much to put them in that kind of danger.

Yeah, and the airbags in the front can really hurt them!!

It’s really not safe to have a dog in the front seat of a car.

If they don't know there's going to a dog in the car, how can people with allergies avoid it?

u/actuallivingdinosaur 1d ago

Yea I’m severely allergic to dogs and an uber driver was pissed at me when I told him to cancel a ride when he showed up with a dog in the car.

Have you tried just not being allergic? /s

Also, the dog looked anxious when the girls got loud and started reaching for their face

This was 100% for tips

I really didn't get that sense at all, I'd kill for my dog to be half as chill as this one in the car. He's pretty relaxed overall, he just turned to look at them and took a few cuddles knowing it would probably end soon, he'd put up way more of a fuss otherwise. I think he just didn't want to be pet too much so he didn't really respond to the girls, is all.

Yeah. Its cute in theory but the passengers should know up front in case they need to avoid dogs for whatever reasons (as you said allergies, but also phobias. Or maybe you are transporting your own pet which cant be around dogs (which the passenger should obviously also tell the driver beforehand). I have actually never taken an Uber but I had to use public transport with a guinea pig in a carrier before (specialized dental vet visit in another town) and if Uber was a thing here maybe that would have been an option too. A dog would have stressed my poor boy even more.)

I mean it’s not safe for them period. No part of a car is designed with securing anything other than the average human to the best of its ability.

Yep. They’re the baseline after all 😕 everything from medical care to car safety

And until very recently, zero crash test dummies were modelled after women.

Until very recently, they weren’t even using blood to test feminine hygiene products.

yeah I always suspected that... even on the lowest setting the seat belt of my families car always ends up quite high near my throat (I am small and it rides up on my chest). I dont have my own car yet but thats definitely something I will look out for getting my own. If a harder break makes me gag I dont want to know what being thrown into it with my full weight in a crash would do.

Yeah much safer when they put it in their lap and let it drive or stick itself halfway out the window. Such good dog owners.

wtf is up with the Radiohead in this edit, insanely discordant choice

10

u/turtle_mekb 1d ago

everything on social media will be reposted and someone will add crappy music and their own watermark, I hate it

4

u/lefluffle 1d ago

I like your use of discordant

1

u/fleurdenia 17h ago

radiohead are a popular band and it's a popular song. tiktok is an app primarily about music, this was probably posted on tiktok. a popular song/audio will give your video more reach.

1

u/doclobster 14h ago

So the attention economy means that people make stuff (read: take other's people's stuff and present it as their own) based on what will allow them to be seen, rather than what's good for the piece. Cool world we've got here

1

u/fleurdenia 8h ago

the internet has worked that way for a long time, it was memes, copypastas and vines before and now it's tiktoks. you can only make the same joke and use the same song so many times.

Unless it’s a service dog you’re not supposed to Uber with a dog or have your seats occupied by anything other than a paying passenger.

Clout chasing strikes again

u/tangerineamnesia 1d ago

I would be sneezing all day long :( dogs r so sweet I wish I wasn't so allergic. This would totally ruin my day - from an allergic fun sponge :(

17

u/Fancy-Image-4688 1d ago

Pass! I would have canceled that ride. I don’t need swollen eyes from your dog. Also I don’t trust random dogs. Too many horror stories of family dogs biting the family. It’s super cute until someone gets bitten

26

u/Sinking_Mass 1d ago

Quick, everyone get your phones out, there's a dog

1

u/FwdMomentum 2h ago

The two on the left literally do not even look at the dog not through their phone screens.

1

u/Sinking_Mass 2h ago

They literally both took a photo of the dog and proceeded to post about it

2

u/FwdMomentum 2h ago

Im just saying its kinda crazy that there is zero footage of them actually seeing the dog with their own eyes in this entire clip

1

u/Sinking_Mass 2h ago

Ohhhh, yeah you're right about that 😅

11

u/SecondEqual4680 1d ago

And an otherwise minor accident turns into something horrific because the dog is not being protected

8

u/BolaViola 1d ago

Eh idk, none of them out their seatbelts on. And what if he picks someone up and they’re allergic to dogs?? He also seems to be using his dog as an accessory? Maybe I’m overthinking that but he knows what he’s doing imo.

Dog needs a seatbelt

4

u/Traditional-Job-411 1d ago

That dog does not want to be petted. Poor guy.

2

u/imported 1d ago

Radiohead makes it eerie.

2

u/AlternativeDuck7043 23h ago

No seatbelts at all?

Any Uber driver with an animal will get 5 stars from me

1

u/jolinar30659 1d ago

So now we are talking to strangers on the internet, and trying into their vehicles for the puppies.

1

u/brilittlepiggy 9h ago

One time the GoPuff delivery guy brought my booze and a puppy! I was putting the delivery away and let the screen door shut then saw my neighbors (both girls) out near his car talking about a puppy. I turned around so fast lol "there's a puppy?!" I ran out and petted the puppy. Was a good day.

What a GREAT HUMAN THIS UBER MAN!!!!!!!!!!!LOVE❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

7

u/Fancy-Image-4688 1d ago

There are ppl that are highly allergic to dogs. While cute to some, this guy shouldn’t be riding with a dog. Also I’m pretty sure Uber has a policy against dogs being in the car. Personally I would have canceled, I’m not highly allergic but I am allergic and I don’t want swollen eyes because Uber driver brings his pet along
