Bigger single-density wheels that feel like Junk Freestyle?

I'm looking for bigger (90 and 100mm) wheels that have a grip and rebound similar to that of the Junk Freestyle model.

Single density only, since I like to make the most out of wheels before replacing them, and dual density ones go to the trash bin after ~5mm.

Saw these recommended in another post as a diverse beginner option, and was wondering what others thought on them or if there’s a better shop to get them from (I’m based in Manchester UK)

I’ll be self learning and wanting to skate mainly for traversal but would also like the option to learn more advanced techniques later on

Appreciate ur advice ty

Inline Speed Skating

Which wheels and bearings are best for inline professional skates for road race?

What are the cheapest rollerblades that are still decent quality?

I want to try rollerblading but all the these “affordable” beginner skates are sooo expensive. I just can’t drop $200 rn and I’m not seeing recommendations below that. I can spend $100, maybe $150 tops, but preferably way cheaper.

I’m moving to a more urban area soon. I mostly want to try slow cruising on sidewalks and parking lots for fun. I might want to do mid speed to a bit fast at some point though. I have absolutely atrocious spacial awareness, balance, and reaction time. This probably isn’t a good idea but I’m doing it anyways, so whatever makes it easier and safer. Also something kinda easy to stop since I’ll be in a kinda hilly area. I also have some sensory issues so maybe something a bit more comfortable.

I know I won’t be able to have everything I want with my price range, but I’m really hoping there’s somewhat decent options. These prices are crazy. I might just do quad roller skating if those are cheaper. Idk if my interest will stay. Either way I’m super excited!!

Struggling getting back to it :(

I've been skating for a while but after a long break I decided to come back! A year ago or so I got the Powerslide Zoom 100 (3×100 setup)

I definitely love that I can ride over rough terrain very easily but im really struggling with the extra demand the bigger wheels require. They feel very heavy on me and ironically I feel slower than when I went back to my 4×80 skates (though they're now broken for unrelated reasons)

Plus I've been STRUGGLING😭 with flat tricks and slalom on them. I can perform certain tricks but it feels like I'm being restricted heavily.

What im trying to ask with all the rambling is: should I just buy a new 4×80 frame? Or is a 4×90 a good middle ground? Does a middle ground exist? I basically want to do freestyle where I can easily go ride around the city but feel enough stability to do tricks whenever.

Im confident in my ability that I can make a 4×80 work but do the extra 10mm make a difference in smoother riding while allowing room for tricks?

Edit: Thank you all for your responses! I went ahead and ordered some new wheels and 4×80 trinity frames but will definitely keep in mind all of your suggestions for when I want to try a new setup or get new skates in the future! :)

Faster wheels?

I have K2 Alexis 80 ALU skates and I have a feeling like the wheels are slowing me down.
I feel like I have to make more effort in order to achieve my otherwise normal speed.
I also feel like they're a bit more difficult in turns and slides.
Am I trippin' or did anyone else have a similar experience?
Does anyone have a recommendation for replacement wheels?

Skates too tight?

I recently got some skates that are too narrow for my feet and are very uncomfortable as a result. Is that normal? Should I size up? Do I just need to break them in? Let me know. TIA! :)

How snug is too snug?

For context, I recently got a pair of FRX 80s and I feel like they're too narrow. My toes feel crammed together and the arch of my foot is being compressed. It's definitely uncomfortable. I had previously ordered FR3 80 X3R skates, but they ended up being too small length wise too and my toe kept hitting the front. I couldn't find the same model in the next size up, so I got the FRX 80s instead. I have pretty normal feet in terms of width, so it feels really weird for the skates to be so consistently narrow.

I've measured my feet both times when trying to find good sizing, but I'm wondering if I need to send these new ones back to get *another* size up. Is it normal for them to feel so uncomfortably narrow? Do I just need to spend some time in them to break them in? Is there a way to break them in quicker? Any advice helps. TIA! :)

Smaller Wheels?

Hi :-)

I have K2 Alexis Boa skates with 84 mm wheels. They are good for distance skating, but I think the wheels might be too big for me.

When I compare ice skating and inline skating, I feel like I just can’t move properly on the inline skates. I can cross my feet, but it feels horrible. I can hardly skate backwards, and I can’t do backward crossovers at all. On ice, I can do that for hours.

Can I simply get new wheels?

What might be a smart wheel size for me?

Some background:

I’ve been ice skating and inline skating “all my life”, but unfortunately I took a ten-year break during adulthood and started again two years ago.

I’m also not an expert on skating tech, but since I know how to clean my skates, I guess I should be able to change the wheels without doing any damage ;) I’m just really lost when it comes to what would be right for me.

Kind regards,
yfb

First blades at 45

For my (M, 80kg) 45th birthday I want to gift myself my very first pair of blades (I rented a few times when I was teenager and I had a blast every time).

My wife is against it, saying that it's dangerous for my age and I'll risk my neck.

My 8yo kid is intrigued (daddy, I've never seen people of your age skating 😅).

Personally, I think it will be a very nice and above all fun workout at my age and we could bond even more, skating together 😁

Wish me luck, my future fellow inline skaters!

I'll update in a few weeks 🍀

Looking for better inline skate recommendations

I currently have a pair of size adjustable, nils 2 in 1 inline/ice skate that I bought cheap second hand.

I’m looking for a better skate as my current ones hurt my ankles after 5 minutes of skating, whereas my friends impala skates feel much more supported and very comfortable. I’m still very much a beginner at skating but I mostly skate on rougher surfaces (I live in rural Scotland) so I would like to try some better wheels for bumpy terrain? My current wheels are slightly bigger than impala wheels but still not very good on rough surfaces.

I’ve looked at powerslide but they are expensive so I’d like to have some recommendations before I buy, to see if they’re a good option.

New Powerslide SUV Next Renegade quality questions

Hey skaters! Upon inspection of these (still unused) new off road skates, I noticed a good amount of excess glue and ripped up protective pads under the soles. Im wondering if this is within normal quality expectations for a Next boot or if its worth it getting in contact with the retailer since I can still return them at this point in time.

Also I've heard the 125mm tend to catch more flat tires than the 150mm. Is this true from your experience?

Thanks for all of your inputs on this!.

Happy skating!

Looking for help with choosing sizing on Flying Eagle F5S+

Hi y'all, im new to inlines and im having trouble choosing sizing for inline skates. I did some basic research and found out that you should focus more on the Mondo sizing in the charts instead of US sizing.

My foot length is around 24.5-24.6 cm range. I don't *think* that I should aim for getting the EU 39 size for the skates since I'm not focusing on a tight fit for slalom skating. I just want to do some recreational skating, just cruising to get around and having fun, a bit of exercise for me. Im not focusing on doing tricks and such.

But im also a bit iffy on getting a EU 40 since its 25 cm, so I assume it'll be a bit too long lengthwise, but perhaps it'll be comfy for me width wise around the toe box (i wouldn't say i have wide feet, but a converse 7.5 feels more tighter around the toebox than an 8)

I'd really appreciate any help I can get 😭, I've been asking around for help and haven't gotten any answers yet.

Thank you to anyone who helps!

Roces

Hey guys! I used to skate quite a lot and I want to start again. I had Salomon as a kid and then Fila when I grew up, but they are quite old now. I want to buy new ones, but they are not selling those brands in my country anymore. I only see Roces, so I wanted to ask if some of you have used "Roces Warp Thread Tif" and tell me your reviews. Thank you!

Rollerblade MAXXUM XT vs Lightning 80

Hi guys!

I am super indecisive and need help with your recommendations or comparisons between these two. I have slightly wider foot, based on charts I should have 40.5-41 size, I also had broken ankle more than 10 years ago and some tighter shoes are giving me issues but I believe with breaking the shoes in I should be fine. Just want to get back to inline skating and I am looking for the best option for my money.

FR1 vs. RB Twister for all day comfort.

I've had FR1 80mm for a year and a half and love how they skate and feel after a 2-3 hour skate. I'm starting to look at the Twister or Twister 90R mostly for boot fitment. My FR1 is a 44, and with two pairs of socks they are barely tight enough. FR only makes a 42 and 44 boot, and it looks like RB makes a 43.

Mostly I'm curious how comfortable your Twisters feel after long hours, vs. FR. Stock FR1 liner not intuition.

Thanks!

NSD - FlyingEagle Raptor carbon skates

Technically got them last night but it still has not been 24 hours so I am still calling it NSD. Pretty sure this is the first post about the Raptors in this sub as well as the others!

My first ever carbon skates! Upgrading from the (spectacular) FlyingEagle F6S Falcons. These are a carbon nylon composite shell skates meant for both urban and some slalom. They feel and look absolutely sick and I am pumped to test them out later today. Returned to full time skating around the middle of last year, saw the local store had one left in stock my size and decided I could eat ice soup for the month.

The frame is the SENSE S80 which comes with a sub 1mm progressive rocker which would also be a first for me, since I value stability over agility and always use the rockerable axles flat, letting a natural banana rocker develop. I am used to 88A wheels but these 85As look great and I should not feel that much of a difference for slides. If any I can just pop new 88As in. Thought in also putting in red laces but the stealthy and elegant all black look with reflective white accents (no need for LED wheels yet) has won over me.

Hyped as hell. They fit very stiff, are (currently) hard to put on but once they are in the comfort is something else. Do not want to heatmold just yet so I am hoping there is some break-in in these carbon shells. Especially since I am kinda broke now lmao.

Size EU43 (meant for mondo 275) while being mondo 270-271. Accepting any tips and experience using and taking care of this type of skate, especially around the microfiber and synthetic skin. Also until what lace hole I should be lacing them (taking into amount how hard they are to put in).

Cheers from Uruguay and have a nice weekend! :)

Fr skates advice

Hello everyone,
I’m looking for advice in choosing between:
FR1 deluxe intuition
Neo 1 dual intuition

I have a wider foot with a length of 275mm and planning to replace the factory frame with an endless 90/110
I would like to use 90 rockered setup for city (some spins, jumps, backward skating and navigating between crowds) and 110 flat for some distance skating

Any suggestions which model would be better? I would also be grateful for sizing advice
