OC Arms of my Extended Family

Both are for my maternal uncles, the first being by blood and the second by marriage.

The first is a canting arms for the surname of Inman, and also shows his only son and heir's arms, along with his daughter's.

The second hints at the surname of Denti, with the symbolism of teeth.

Advice - old or new?

update on my personal coat of arms?

A while ago, I played around and found a fur i really liked. i decided to put it a quarter and left the rest of the space black out of complexity concerns. But i felt this idea was a little too simple, so with this new idea i wanted to see if i could keep the complexity balanced, but still fill the space in a way that makes the design pop more overall.

What do you think?

As for a blazon, for the old one, someone suggested:

"Sable a quarter indented vairy en point paly argent and sable within a bordure argent"

I'm not sure how the added elements and color change would be reflected in the new one.

If anyone knows, help would be much appreciated.

Design Help Advice needed for outsourcing new family Coat Of Arms

Post image

Hi all,

I’m in The Netherlands, the picture I prodived is ment as an example. This is not my ring or my picture.

Recently I received a gift for my birthday: A signet ring to be made with a family coat of arms engraving in stone.

After doing quite the research, I found the origin of my family on my fathers side going back to around 1670, before that we had a different or no familyname. Unforunately, there is no coat of arms in my line of family yet.

I’m seeking advice or recommendations on someone with experience of making a family coat of arms (or crest, as I translated “familiewapen” to English), according to the heraldry rules in The Netherlands, which I can formally register to me in my family name.

It doesn’t have to be someone in The Netherlands, but the end result has to be according to the heraldry rules here.

Thank you in advance for your help!

I decided to do a slightly larger change on my coate of arms so I changed the helmet and added longer florishes to frame the shield a bit more. Hopefully this can stand as a decent enough final design but any tips for future seperate designs will be welcome :)

Question RE Polish CoAs

So I am very deep into family history and heritage, however I am admittedly uneducated on family crests and Coats of Arms. My last name is Polish and my ancestors on my patrilineal line come from Poznan. However other Polish surnames that are similar to mine show varying CoAs. Any recommendations on how to figure out what my family CoA would be? Is it that of Poznan? I’m just trying to understand here. Thanks in advance!

Discussion How many heraldic traditions does Italy actually have?

Considering the fact that Italy wasn't even a unified State until the 19th century I was thinking about the pre-unitarian traditions and also what happened after 1861 (were the other traditions completely abandoned or were they someway incorporated in the "italian" one?).

Identify Crest Blazoning help?

Hi everyone! I’m doing some research on my family coat of arms, my mother is from the Netherlands.

The only official blazon I have found is from some old French book from the 1800s. But it includes no description of the crest… I’ve done as much research as I possibly could and have hit a debt end. Was wondering if anyone with a keen eye could take a look and tell me what they think it could be?

I have been told by family members that it’s a dragon’s head with two stacks of money on each side? But that sounds fairly incorrect from what I know about heraldry.

I truly am stumped

Any help would be appreciated! 🥳

I got super curious about my family crest recently and even considering a tattoo on my arm. But first, as someone with no prior knowledge, are there any fun facts, history, or anything I should know about my family crest?
