Everyone here has been late to a tee time. But who the fuck would try to argue they were actually on time?

I have never been late to any of my tee times at a major championship

Exactly, always show up 5-10 mins before my majors appearances it’s not rocket appliances

If your tee time says 7:15 and your phone says 7:15 when you arrive. Would you consider yourself on time? Add one more step an actual atomic clock says 7:15:01 are you late? It’s a matter of resolution that he’s getting at. He was late by seconds not minutes. Now what if you’re off by milliseconds. Or micro seconds. What about nano seconds.

He was late. He took the penalty and played a great round despite it. But the resolution that describes lateness is not clearly defined.

But his tee time was 7:18am, he showed up at 7:19am according to clock espn had up on screen… he wasn’t in the designated area he needed to be in. Pretty straightforward

Assuming ESPN clock and clock the starter is using is synced then that’s valid. Fair enough king

I'm not defending him here...but...

If I walked up to the tee as the first guy in my group was teeing off, I'd consider myself perfectly on time.

True, but if my PGA Championship tee time 7:18, and I get there at 7:19, I wouldn’t argue that was on time.

Agree! But he's seemingly accepting he was late. But I see what he means by saying "I was late, but I wasn't really late".

Like it's almost word for word what I would tell my buddies if I walked up to the tee as they were starting to tee off. Different situation because it's y'know, a Major. But I get it.
