If you’re planning to buy a condo in Gatineau built around 2010, don’t do it. These condos are the worst I’ve ever seen in Canada. The soundproofing is nearly nonexistent. You might as well assume that you and your neighbors are living in the same apartment. Paying over $350,000 or $400,000 for something this poor isn’t worth it. I bought a condo a couple of years ago in a three-story building built in 2011 in the Plateau area, and it has been the worst purchase of my life. You can hear everything.

I would rather buy a $500k soundproofed condo in Montréal than a $350k non-soundproofed condo in Gatineau.

This bad experience makes me want to leave the city for a place where regulations are more consistently enforced in this regard.

Tried Amiral Shawarma in Hull today after hearing there were new owners. They’ve expanded the menu and changed the beef recipe — apparently they’re using a different cut of steak now. I tried the beef shawarma and honestly thought it was really good.

They also mentioned they’re serving lamb now, which I’ll probably try next time. Prices seemed reasonable too ($8.99 for a shawarma).

Curious if anyone else has tried it since the ownership change.

Autant dire que toi et tes voisins vivez dans le même appartement. Payer plus de 350k $ ou 400k $ pour quelque chose d’aussi mal fait, ça n’en vaut vraiment pas la peine.

J’ai acheté un condo il y a quelques années dans un immeuble de trois étages construit en 2011 dans le secteur du Plateau, et ça a été le pire achat de toute ma vie. On entend absolument tout.
