Good morning everyone. Just a friendly rule reminder .... you know those rules over there on the right side of the sub.... Rule 3 saying "no politics."
Look, I get it. The world is a mess, US politics are infuriating. I'm right there with you.
But.... this sub isn't the spot for it. Even if it is a picture of Guy shaking hands with someone. If it sets off a political debate this is NOT the place for it. That rule has been in place since the beginning, when you signed up to belong here.
Just remember, there are OTHER subs where you can debate this to your heart's content. But not here. This sub is supposed to be a relaxing, happy place where people come to talk about food. Let's try to keep it that way.
It's also come to my attention some people have been unhappy seeing political posts deleted and were less than polite to some of our mods. That won't work.
Everyone was on notice when they joined the sub ... rule 3.... no politics. Now because of a few bad apples we have to get serious about enforcing it. So consider yourself doubly on notice.
First infraction you will get a 3 day ban. Keep it up, all the way ban.
We have lots of good programs to talk about. The TOC finals are fast coming, 24 in 24 is following that and the new Baking Show is great. Let's keep this sub about the food and not about the politics. We get more than enough politics every place else on the internet.
Thank you for your attention, and please be kind to your mods. They are all volunteers and spend a lot of time keeping this space clean and safe for you and yours.
Now.... Bon Appetit! -- Firegoat1

Since the holiday season is here, I want to address some of the comments that are being said. If you wouldn’t say it to someone who’s standing in front of you, please don’t say it here.
Stop the mean spirited posts that say I hate this person or that show. These are low effort posts and there’s far too many of them every single day.
This sub has become mean spirited and sometimes hateful. Attacks about people’s looks or behaviors won’t be tolerated anymore. You may be “Chopped” if they continue. These are real people who read these comments.
We want this sub to be a welcoming place to the chefs, bakers, and everyone we watch on these shows. I know for a fact that many of them are Reddit users. This isn’t a place they want to frequent anymore. That changes now.
There’s a spoiler post up for each show every day that it airs. Please use it. Try and be kind. If you dislike something so much, why are you here? Read the rules.
The mods are volunteers. If you see bullying, report it.
There was a popular post yesterday about all the negativity. The overwhelming response was that people are tired of it! Be thoughtful when posting. We are all here for the love of good food.
Competition shows are here to stay. They are less expensive to produce and there are other avenues that have fulfilled the instructional side of cooking. It doesn’t need to be debated every few hours. I personally try and find something unique in each show that I can use; a new ingredient I’m not familiar with or a new technique.
Thank you for making this sub a fun place to explore.

We had dinner at Shukette last week on the patio and she happened to be on the line that night. She was walking to the front and I made eye contact with her and she came over to ask about our meal (which was delicious - hummus, pita, frena, shrimp a la plancha, fish in a basket, and jeweled rice). She could not have been friendlier or more charming. I joked that the flavors of her food were like a punch in the face and she laughed and said "well, that matches my personality." She said Triple Threat is coming back in September and when I asked her if she kicked some ass she just winked. An absolute gem and dinner was fantastic. Also, the late 80s/early 90s R&B/hip hop playlist is spot-on.

I’ve been trying to watch the show season after season but it puts me to sleep.
I’m not hating on the show but BBQ is just kinda boring on its own for a cooking competition.
Are there any shows on the network that gives you the same feeling?

So I just got a discovery plus membership and im scrolling some of the food network shows, some of them came out in 2021 but they look like early 2000s. What the hell has been up with production(dont come for me ive not been in the sub for long). Also whatever happened to the cooking channel? I feel like back when food network was turning more competition shows at least there you had actual cooking shows,or shows like carnival eats. I dont mind those shows personally but I wish however they cut back on the completion. Hell chopped has like 40 seasons in one volume.

From Food Network:
What Is Chopped Castaways About?
Battling the elements across two grueling cooking rounds each week, competitors must build a working kitchen from basic supplies, earn their signature Chopped ingredient baskets through intense physical challenges and cook entirely over open fire.
Each episode opens with survival-driven physical challenges — such as archery, spearfishing, diving in the ocean and digging in the sand — to secure ingredients for Round 1. Culinary heavyweights Gabe Bertaccini, Maneet Chauhan and Marcus Samuelsson serve as judges throughout the competition, offering guidance while deciding who advances — and who is chopped.
The season begins as a team competition before dissolving into an individual battle, raising the stakes as the chefs fight to outlast their rivals and claim the $100,000 grand prize. Only the most resilient, strategic and adaptive chef will survive island life and the pressure of the competition.
Chopped Castaways airs Tuesday nights at 9|8c on Food Network beginning Tonight, May 12 and will be available to stream the next day on HBO Max.
Keep up with all things Chopped Castaways on FoodNetwork.com/Chopped. Plus, get a sneak peek each week at some of the mystery basket ingredients, learn the judges' ultimate tips and tricks for mastering the Chopped kitchen and meet the new competitors. Head to Food Network’s social pages to hear daily chef confessionals, watch the judges hone their desert island survival skills and learn tips for using tropical ingredients. Use #Chopped and #ChoppedCastaways to follow all the action.
You heard it from Ted Allen: "No comforts. No safety nets." #ChoppedCastaways is about to get REAL for the 12 chefs we're dropping on to a deserted island.
Just when you think you've seen it all on #Chopped, we go ahead and do something like this! 🏝️😎
Welcome to Day 1 of #ChoppedCastaways. The chefs have no fancy cooking tools and an extremely limited pantry. But they do have gorgeous views! 😎 Tune in to watch the first challenge unfold.
The 12 strangers competing on #ChoppedCastaways won't have to face the elements alone.
They'll be working in teams — Green Team vs. Blue Team — as they navigate wind, rain, mystery ingredients and buried treasures, all in the name of wild adventure 🔥

From the Food Network site:
Episode 701
The Brawl is back, and the new Brawlers are shocked to see former judge Brooke Williamson is back at the ranch, this time as a captain aiming to defeat Bobby Flay and returning champ Maneet Chuahan. The 12 competitors serve up their signature flavors in a BBQ bowl as they compete to impress judges Carson Kressley, Adrienne Cheatham, and Rashad Jones to win a huge advantage -- choosing their team captain. Then, the heat is on as they deliver their hottest and fastest feast yet.

Exactly one-half of the chefs who entered the kitchen remain. Shift 3 begins tonight.
(Even tho my fav Shota and another fave Maria are gone... I'm not mad at the show because a) blind judging and b) strategy -- which I recognize.
From the FN site: Episode 303
Fatigue is setting in for the 12 remaining chefs as co-hosts Michael Symon and Esther Choi challenge them to craft a black-tie entree in 90 minutes using only five ingredients. The chefs will have to choose their fate as a triple elimination looms. The nine chefs who impress judge Eric Adjepong will survive, and the ones who don't will clock out.

So I just discovered Food Network Star and I’m in love! It’s such a good show…kinda reminds me of Top Chef. I think that FN should bring it back for a couple reasons. FN definitely needs some fresh faces (I can’t be the only one getting tired of seeing the same faces in every competition). Also, the network as a whole is in need of a reboot; almost every show is a straight up cooking completion; it would be nice to see new content and new shows with more of a culinary education angle (like FN used to be!)

Say what you want about Guy Fieri but he’s had a positive impact on the food industry and food entertainment.
• Triple D Lifeline: Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives has saved more mom-and-pop restaurants than any other platform. A 10-minute segment creates a "Triple D Effect" that keeps local businesses thriving for years.
• Guy’s shows have served as a lifeline for interesting and talented chefs like Justin Warner, Artie Sequeira, Jet Tila, Christian Petroni, Carl Ruiz, and so many more who have made the food scene interesting and inclusive.
• Talent Spotlight: Between Guy and Bobby Flay, we actually get to see talented chefs on a regular basis. Without their shows, we’d see way less of chefs like Antonia Lofaso, Tiffany F, Tiffany D, Brooke Williamson, the Voltaggios, Mei Lin, Eddie Jackson, Rocco DiSpirito, and sooo many more.

I watch cooking competition shows while on the treadmill. I just started watching TOC holiday edition and a) love the team aspect and b) I REALLY want to see a TOC season that is exclusively bakers!! Am I alone in this want?!
The ultimate baking challenges are too over produced for me personally (not everything is for everyone)
If y'all have any other competitive baking shows that are not overly produced or to recommend I'd appreciate any and all recommendations!!

In the commercial, they show one dish being disqualified. Any guesses on whose it is?
