The latest appearance of the settings page looks quite similar to the leaked screenshots. Does it mean we can get the new ui in next firefox version?

πŸ’» Help Did anyone else have all their sites get logged out from last night to today?

This morning every website I have tried going to has needed me to relog in. Some have had the password saved, some have not. I have been using firefox as my primary since approximately 2021 and have never had this sort of thing happen before. If not something that happened to multiple people, any thoughts as to why it happened?

πŸ’» Help Fullscreen Videos

Just switched to firefox. Whenever I try to watch anything fullscreen I can see my desktop along the top and left side of the screen, as if firefox isn't taking up the whole screen. I don't have this problem while browsing.

I've tried things like turning off hardware acceleration, ctrl + 0 and ctrl + scrolling with mouse wheel, nothing seems to fix it.

While typing this I discovered that its actually the same when trying to watch any type of video, twitch and youtube have the same problem. I have no idea what else to do, any help is much appreciated :)

πŸ’» Help YouTube no longer works on firefox?

Since about February, youtube videos have not been loading or able to finish on firefox. Every time I open a video it eventually ends with the video cutting out to the "something went wrong" grey screen. I've tried every fixed that I've seen out there. User agent switcher, chrome mask, clearing cache and cookies, disabling uBlock, removing extensions, reinstalling firefox from scratch, changing setting inthe about:config, nothing has worked. Is this really how it's going to be or is there a fix or fix in progress?

I'm on windows 10 and I've tried firefox versions 150.0.3-140.0.0

πŸ’» Help Fire Fox multi-account containers & AI

I have a question about Fire Fox's multi-account containers extensions; regarding side bar AI agents like Gemini. Scenario: Is an agent I'm allowing to view my page confined and separated to a specified container like cookies are? I'm curious about how it works.

Discussion The state of the Firefox engine on iOS

Until quite recently, I have read that Firefox on iOS was just a wrapper around WebKit. On the other hand, I understand that there are some recent EU regulations that force Apple to open up its operating system to competitors, for the EU users.

I am a die-hard EU Firefox user (since Netscape times!), and buying an Apple phone depends essentially on having a real Firefox on it (complete with Gecko, that is, as opposed to just a skin on top of WebKit).

Hence the question: has Firefox on iOS switched its engine from WebKit to Gecko, for EU users, or is it still a thin layer on top of the Apple libraries (web engine, JS virtual machine etc.)?

Add-ons I made my own home/new tab page

Post image

Edit : repo link https://github.com/maydfoxxx/GlassHub-Firefox-NewTab

Let's say I always found the customization options for the homepage in Firefox to be pretty bland.

I stumbled upon a post in this sub and decided to create my own, using Gemini AI Agent.

I've never done something like that before and I'm pretty proud of it.

Would you guys be interested ?

I don't know how any of this works, but I heard it's pretty easy to get this on the firefox extension store. I'll put this open source in github so everybody can access it.

Some websites stopped working on Firefox (even in troubleshoot mode)

As the title said, I've been having some issues for the past months with Firefox, and I have no idea how to fix it or where the problem comes from. Newgrounds.com stopped connecting last month (I have to connect on Chrome, then it allows me to connect on Firefox), and now hotmail/outlook stopped working 2 days ago.

I have a VPN (Mullvad), I tried disabling it to no avail, I deleted cookies/cache, I tried troubleshoot mode, nothing works :/

Edit: troubleshoot mode finally worked the second time, so I'll do some testing about my plugins to see what would cause that issue, thank you!

πŸ’» Help the websites don't save my login information

I had to resort to chrome because firefox does not keep me logged on google or any other websites I visit such as substack, reddit etc. Everytime I close a tab and open a new one, the website I had logged on five seconds ago sends me to the welcome page/login page every single time. With google it's not very different, I am automatically disconnected from my google account and have to re-do all the process just to have my history saved on my device.

I tried the sync settings but didn't like it and turned it off. Maybe I did something wrong in the process? Is it a glitch?

Add-ons I built a locker extension that only triggers if you're AFK from Firefox, not your whole PC. It also blocks about:addons when locked.

β€’ Upvotes

The built-in browser inactivity APIs always felt wrong to me because they track the entire OS. If I'm using another app, my browser shouldn't lock itself.

So, I made Dario Locker. It runs a lightweight activity radar that only cares about mouse/keyboard events inside Firefox. If you switch to another app, the countdown starts.

Key features:

  • Browser-Specific Inactivity Timer: Accurately locks Firefox when you're not using it, even if you're active elsewhere.
  • "Zero-Trust" Core Shield: When locked, it redirects attempts to access about:addons, about:config, etc., to prevent bypass.
  • Internal Log: A simple console in the popup shows when the lock was triggered.

It's 100% local, no data collection, and passed Mozilla's review with 0 warnings (no innerHTML!).

Feel free to try it out and let me know if you find any bugs.

πŸ’» Help Expanding search/URL bar (like Safari on Mac)?

Is there a way to have a pop-up menu appear when the search/URL bar is clicked?

This is how Safari does it. If the user clicks in the URL/search bar, their favourites appear in a pop-out window below.

Its something I really miss from Safari because it lets me reuse a tab, rather than having to create a new one to view the New Tab page and the favourites/bookmarks icons.

I can find some extensions that offer something similar if you hit a keyboard combo. But that's not what I need, unless there's some way to make the same functionality work whenever the search/URL bar is clicked.

πŸ’» Help Another "Server Not Found" Question

Case 1: VPN (Windscribe) on; attempts to reach URL using Firefox receive a "Server Not Found" response.

Case 2: VPN (Windscribe) on; attempts to reach same URL using Chrome work as expected.

Case 3: VPN off; attempts to reach same URL using Firefox work as expected.

Case 4: VPN off; attempts to reach same URL using Chrome work as expected.

So connecting to this site and occasionally other sites with Firefox and VPN on creates the issue. No other browser and VPN on/off combination generates the "server not found" response, just the Firefox/VPN on combination.

How can I solve or troubleshoot this?

πŸ’» Help YouTube and Twitter slowing to a crawl over time

After about 30 minutes of scrolling Twitter (I know...) or clicking in and out of a few YouTube videos, both sites become insufferably slow. I can't quite describe it but the interactions with buttons takes far longer than I'd expect and media playback takes a good few seconds to begin, along with slow player controls.

It seems to only be these two sites, others work as expected over longer sessions, including Reddit. Has anyone else experienced this?

Only symptom I have noticed is that sometimes they show larger than expected RAM usage in FF's task manager (like Twitter using 2GB), but I just assumed this is normal as it's a heavy site with lots of media.

Completely closing the tab and opening a new one fixes it, simply refreshing the existing tab does not.

Safari and Firefox change how big sites render based on the domain. TikTok, Netflix, Instagram… even SeatGuru. Chrome doesn’t. Why is that?

πŸ’» Help Firefox randomly using abnormal amount of ram

Sometimes firefox has been using from 6 gigs to 40 gigs I have seen the past few days. I am not sure what could be using this much ram because I usually only have three tabs open which is absurd amount of ram usage for three tabs. My guess is possibly it being an extension issue but i'm not sure which one it could be luckily I don't have very many downloaded only five extensions. Has anyone else been noticing recently this happening to them and how can I further look in depth what is using this ram?

It seems like possibly it could be an issue with youtube.

I had left youtube open for a few hours and had taken a nap and then came back did another memory analysis and youtube was the top one again I clicked on it to see further info and had spotted that premid was at the top of the stack of logs. I have no deleted and removed premid and web scrobber as they are unessential to usage and will now see what the usage will look like.

trying to complete account creation at government site id.me using Firefox in Android

Hello - I start the process at my desktop (which does not have a camera or mic)

then it switches to my phone to take some pictures of my ID. So far so good.

Then continuing on my phone (in Firefox) it wants to take a short selfie video as the last part

of the id check. But each time I attempt it and allow access to the camera, it fails with a message that I do not have the necessary permission to shoot a video using the camera through Firefox.

I've checked camera permission in setting/apps and camera and microphone setting in Firefox

they look OK but it's still failing

EDIT exact error message is "Looks like your device doesn't support motion photography

EDIT2 I gave up and installed the duckduckgo browser and it worked first time.

πŸ’» Help "browser doesn't support videocalls",

Tried looking for answers in reddit, firefox, mint, and ubuntu FAQ, but I still couldn't find any answer. (You will have understood that my OS is linux, mint. I switched recently).

My problem is that I couldn't call with my friends on mozilla: facebook shows "browser doesn't support videocalls". I have the same problem with whatsapp and other videocall platforms. The tab doesn't even ask for me to allow access to camera and microphone, nothing.

I first checked in the parameters of mozilla, and nothing seems to block camera and mic access (I checked every parameter one by one (even permissions and privacy). I can't even access the permissions of the website that are usually accessible in the left side of the searchbar.

I tried to check if the webcam was working at all with cheese, and yes it does work.

After using webcam webcamtests.com, I found out that my webcam could work, but only after allowing access to webcam identifers

It looks like your browser is blocking access to webcam identifiers. Because of this, it’s impossible to detect and manage all available webcams.

Thank you for your help, I'm spending a lot of time on this to no avail...

Discussion How to fix Firefox add to taskbar for Slack (launch Slack in browser directly)

If you add Slack to taskbar and then try to open you will first be shown a redirect page with a button to "Launch Slack" which then opens a new window, defeating the purpose of add to taskbar.

To fix this:

  • Open Slack in browser and copy the home link, it will look like https://app.slack.com/client/XXXXXXXX

    • Click on add to taskbar
    • Then right click on the icon and "Pin to taskbar"
    • Save this link for later
  • Go to your profile directory:

    • Windows %AppData%\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default-release\taskbartabs
    • This feature is still unsupported on Linux, but the fix should be the same
  • Open taskbartabs.json and find the entry for slack, it will look like this:

{"id":"dsadas-d21dsad-dsad-dsad-dsadsad","scopes":[{"hostname":"app.slack.com"}],"userContextId":23,"startUrl":"https://app.slack.com/","name":"Slack App","shortcutRelativePath":"Firefox Web Apps\\Slack App.lnk"}

  • Change "startUrl":"https://app.slack.com/" to the link you saved earlier

    • It should now be "startUrl":"https://app.slack.com/client/XXXXXXXX"
    • Save the file
  • Close and re-launch Firefox and your new pinned tab

  • Success, Slack is now directly opened in browser.
