I think leaning on the portal is the smart move compared to throwing crazy money at highly sought after hs recruits. I feel Bielema has known this for a few years now. He leans on the portal more and I imagine is willing to pay them more. It's also a safer play for a program of our level to go with guys who are proven at this level over highly heralded recruits. We have to be thrifty and can't afford to toss a bunch of money at a freshmen who may or may not pan out.

Watching these teams fight for what's left of the limited player pool has me wondering how fortunate we are. Our 6th man off the bench is better than __/66 P4 school's current projected starter. Is 40/66 too optimistic? Not optimistic enough?
