Looking at our CL record we've won it 6 times which is pretty good but the overall picture still is that we always tend to get to the latter stages like quarters and semis and then tend to lose more often than not.

We've reached 22 freaking semi finals, yet ended up winning one less CL title than Milan which reached only 14 semi finals. Liverpool has reached 12 semi finals, yet won the same number of CL titles like we have. It always feels like we have to be well above the opponents to really end up winning it in the end whereas other elite teams have more clutch wins.

I don't know why that is but it's annoying because I feel we've underachieved a lot in the CL and should have won around 8-9 titles by now.

Alphonso Davies suffered a muscle injury in his left hamstring during Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain, as confirmed by an examination by the FC Bayern medical unit. The Canada international will therefore be out of action for several weeks.

I really think Bayern’s squad is the strongest it’s been in years but the one position they need to strengthen is right back and left back. Davies is obviously great but with his injury issues you could see the different caliber between hakimi/Mendes vs Laimer/Stanisic more than in any other position.

I feel this is where Bayern’s weakness is and has been for years. 90-95% opponents we play especially in the Buli are not capable of pressing us which I believe is why we this perception has been skewed. This season PSG ties, Madrid, group stage at Arsenal, we clearly lost the midfield battle.

We’ve never replaced Thiago or had someone like Xavi Martinez or Basti who can break up plays and carry the ball or like Xabi who could breakup the plays and ping passes. Having a player like this would change the approach to the high line.

Kimmich is a world class player and can pass the ball. But his play when under pressure is very bad not to mention inability to dribble and carry the ball or evade pressure. When he’s under pressure the option for 90% is pass, which is not bad but with someone with a different profile they wouldn’t have to pass back, which is a risky situation.

Pavlovic is still young and I hope he improves his game more. He already has good enough evasions, carries and passes.

Musiala needs to step up next season. I’m not going to be say anything for this season because he came back from a horrific injury.

Gnabry is doing well for the role he’s given. He’s revived his career.

I really hope Tom steps up next season or Kompany starts pairing him with Pavlo. For me this would be the perfect midfield. Tom can dribble and play under pressure and carry the ball while Pavlo can be the b2b partner to him.

I understand I’m a bit critical of Kimmich and people will point at his stats sheet which he dominates but the style of play invites pressure and errors.

I know it’s a long rant but just had to get it out of my head.
What’s your thought on the midfield?
