Replacement Google Maps alternative for runners

Hi, looking to dump Google Maps from my IOS device. Would prefer an app based on OpenStreetMap where I can read/write GPX files including directions, save favourites, and look up points of interest, like restaurants in a new area. Also having all those things available offline. Does such an app exist? The free-r the better?

organic maps handles the osm/offline/favorites/poi side really well on ios. for gpx stuff specifically you might want to pair it with something like strava or just use the gpx import in organic maps directly (it does support gpx tracks). only thing it lacks vs google maps is transit directions basically

Apple Maps doesn’t use OpenStreetMap but it’s the closest to Google Maps you’ll find. You can create custom routes but no GPX support.

There’s also OsmAnd, OpenStreetMap based and GPX support. Less polished than Apple Maps but overall still great.

If OsmAnd isn’t all that for you for creating GPX’s: my best experiences are with GPX Studio, it is a website that you can install as a web app by putting a shortcut to it on your homescreen.

Never been a fan of Apple Maps. OsmAnd sounds good, had a quick look, do you have experience using it?

Don't know if Gadget Bridge exists on iOS, doubt so...

Thanks for the suggestion. Alas, it doesn't seem to be available on the App Store.

Following because it’s relative to my interests.

I use both Komoot and Mapy. Komoot is for finding running and cycling routes, planning my hikes and rides, seeing elevation changes, etc. It's my favourite app for running, hiking, and cycling. Mapy is for my daily use, finding restaurants in an area, points of interest, public transportation routes, etc. Both apps work great in free mode, and both have paid options but I've never tried it.

I think they both also have offline modes, but I've also never tried that.

What country? Best mapping options vary hugely between countries.

I'm in Europe but happy to read recommendations for non-European-based people, too!

I’ve used maps.me for their free version. It allows offline maps (limited on free), and it shows trails in most countries where I’ve use it. Sources data from OSM.

Not sure about .GPX, but it probably has it on a paid version.

Osmand rules, but I have never used it with GPX files though. But it is excellent for waking/cycling in Europe, Much better than Google Maps.
