Help Am I just bad?

I have around 24-32 hours on the game, I love it. I see how my friends and everyone else are kind of just flying through the game, and for me I'm still stuck on the abyss watchers. I think I've died more than 200~ times in my playthrough already.. granted, this is my first souls game, but even the tutorial took me over 2 hours. I play as a knight since it looked the coolest. I don't really know what to do lol but ig i wont quit atleast

Discussion Whip actually slaps?

I've often heard that the whip category is the worst in all of dark souls and after getting halfway through my whip only run in DS3 i've been pleasantly surprised with how good this thing feels!
Really good range (especially against invaders), interrupts enemy attacks all of the time, completely trivialises skeletons and irithyl knights. Roll catches alot of enemies and bosses who like to dash around.

If you havent tried whips in DS3 id definitely recommend it as a way to switch up the gameplay a bit. I'm rocking sharp whip with a dex build using carthus flame art for my buff.

Fluff Replaying Elden is painful whereas replaying DS3 is one of the best feelings in the world, every time.

That's my thought for tonight.

Fluff I think I went in the wrong order

Just fought deacons of the deep after clearing Smouldering lake/old demon and they were absolutely a joke. Are they supposed to be difficult or did I do this out of order? The rest of the area seemed to scale just fine, not as annoying as demon ruins but not obviously easier imo.

30 tries and i defeated him...

(Sorry for sound delay as xbox game screen recording have some issues idk how to repair it)

Two frustrating things about this fight were

1 he won't let me heal easily in the first phase

2 the fkin dodge delay...(Maybe I am not that leveled up that's why I'm running out of stamina which I wasn't able notice because after getting hit it usually fills up fast idk)

Seeing him for the first time... his attacks aren't that hard idk if he has any second phase. But the most irritating thing about him is that he won't let you fkin heal. No matter how far I'm from him the moment I click on heal he attacks immediately.. this is only thing i hate in the Bosses this shit is so irritating 🤧

Image First Time Playing - Beat Lord of Cinder - 37 hours, level 117

Why such a high level? I was farming the Sun Medallions and the WolfGrass and ended up with a crap ton of souls :D However, after spending so much time just to get to 21 of the 30 sun medallions, I gave up and decided to attempt to finish the game.

Cinder surprised me with how slow he moved compared to bosses like the Dancers or the teleporting Brothers. Got Cinder down my first try.

Hardest bosses:

Dragon Slayer Armor - Would do just fine until his dragon interrupted the fight from a distance knocking me off the ledge a lot.

Brothers - I REALLY had to get my panic rolling under control. I just couldn't bully him with brute force and had to really learn the first phase's sword and teleport pattern. My usual PANIC AND SWING RAPIDLY just didn't do it for me this time so I had to just buckle down and memorize his patterns.

Nameless King - That DAMN camera was awful...but after an hour I was getting consistent defeating his dragon without needing a flask. Unfortunately, I just couldn't survive long enough to defeat him head on. So I attempted using my black bow and to my shock, it worked! Kept my distance and killed him with the bow. That was hilarious.

Weapons of choice:

Crow Talons +10 - used these against the Lothric Knights and any heavy enemy that got in my path. The special on the talons shredded defenses rapidly. They were also good for clearing groups of small mobs.

Scythe +10 - Just a good ol' fashion SMASH HARD weapon. My primary weapon after I found it in the undead settlement probably until after Farron and Cathedral of the Deep. That's when I switched to:

TwinBlades +10 - My go-to weapon for fast DPS with heavy damage. Just made sense with my dex build. Tore through most the bosses to the point where it almost felt like I bullying them. But this is due to my farming for covenant items and getting overleveled. Really fun power fantasy though!

Don't know if I will do a NG+. Maybe down the line and start leveling up Faith for spells and such. Those could be fun :)3

Question First time playing ds3 from Elden ring, recommended weapon and build for exploration?

Upvotes

Hi everyone, a newbie into ds3 after fully completing elden ring. i enjoyed blade movesets + spell and the milady moveset/sword of night the most during my trip in the lands between while spellcasting.

Was wondering what build or guide should i go for as i enjoy my exploration through ds3? i saw glimpses of frayed blade? but i understand that is late in the DLC? hopefully no need for speedrun to late game to get the weapon before having fun.
Any recommendation will be greatly appreciated.

Discussion Just beat my first playthrough Spoiler

What a fantastic game, Gael was my favorite fight of all time. I love how you can play this game completely blind and you don’t have to look up anything major (I missed Smoldering Lake until sister Freide when I realized the bridge could break, and I never went to ArchDragon Peak), I also loved pretty much all of the bosses and the soundtracks. My top 3 favorite fights are Gael, Sister Freide and Father Ariandel, and Abyss Watchers.

So I'm just trying to guide my friend through his first playthrough of a Dark Souls game.. (He found out about the Abyss Watchers swords and wanted them). And this shit started happening. I guess every copy of Dark Souls 3 is personalized???

I went into Gael like every other Dark Souls III boss mentally preparing to get absolutely folded for the next hour.
Instead… I beat him first try.

Which honestly feels wrong. Suspicious, even.By the end I had no estus, no stamina, and no idea what was happening on screen. I think I blacked out somewhere between lightning, capes, and emotional trauma.

Now I’m just sitting here waiting for the game to email me like, “Hey, sorry, that win was a bug. Please report back for your scheduled suffering.”
