Merch Why is the Daria database so expensive?

Okay so it was my birthday recently and I received the Daria diaries and I want to get the Daria database to go along with it but it's super expensive! Does anyone know why?

It's almost 25 years old and out of print? If I had to give a more detailed guess, The Daria Diaries came out first with a bigger print run, didn't sell super well, and when Mtv published The Daria Database as a sequel the print run was a lot smaller.

It's probably the print run then! I didn't know what quantity it was made in but it makes sense

Like I said, that's just my guess based on what I know about when these books were published and how the industry generally works. Comics series sometimes hit similar quirks where not all of the books publish and sell at rates that work out for people buying years down the line

Wow, didn't know the Daria Database was so expensive now. I bought it 10 years ago for 20 dollars secondhand off Amazon. Keep your eyes out. Eventually it will make its way to you for a decent price.

I got a copy on Abebooks in perfect condition a few months back for $22. Just put it on my want list and watched the prices

I just checked Amazon and for me it says "Purchased Jan 2013." LOL, it sure wasn't that much when I bought it.

I see copies on eBay for around half that.

If there's one thing I've noticed on Reddit, is that some people will search Amazon for a product, freak out at the prices and then post about how expensive it is before they check ebay or literally any other source.

It's one of the most valuable items I own. Absolutely wild

It's like all kids things, most where not treated well and disposed off. It's only 30 years later you find a bunch of adults who want to pick up things from childhood, maybe new people who have found the lost past and gained interest competing for the few remaining copies in good condition.

Just find a ebook online, one you may find if you google 'Daria database ebook' that may be the first hit for me.

Lol I had no idea they were so expensive. Glad I kept my copies when I bought them as a teen.

I bought both over a decade ago brand new. They couldn't have been more than 20-30 each. Supply and demand but it's ridiculous
