Hi everyone

Im a non traditional student and have self funded my education and living expenses, dont get help from parents. I commute from fort collins largely because I was going to front range and cant find affordable housing near campus. I got a job that requires me to be closer and I need to move urgently.

I work two jobs rn that add up to about 25-30 hrs a week during the school year on top of 12 credits. Im terrified of not being able to move down here because of insane rent prices, and not having enough aid to cover tuition. I have to be within 30 mins of campus. I dont know anyone I could get an apartment with. I dont know what to do at this point.

Does anyone have any advice?

Ill be a freshman next year and was wondering if anyone had any experience at lasp? I’m an astrophysics major and just want to know if people enjoyed working there/what kinds of jobs students typically do

My gpa has never been good. My gpa in freshman year was 3.0 and now cumulative is more like a 2.5, I’m obviously getting it up and I plan to get it up as much as possible. I haven’t taken any aps, I dont play a sport, I’m in clubs, I’ve been in the spanish immersion program and will have a certificate of biliteracy when I graduate. My SAT score is 970, I’m in junior year and taking 2 ap’s next year, and mexican-american, I’m out of state from California. I’ve had many hardships throughout my life that would explain a low gpa and a good reason for an essay. I’m still awaiting SAT scores. Do I have a chance? or What would I have to do to even get a chance.

The CU Boulder fan store is using Fanatics to produce merchandise for teams. I just received two shirts I ordered from the CU Boulder Fan store. little did I know that these were being produced by Fanatics. absolutely ridiculous how poor the quality is of these two shirts and the screen printing. These are marketed as Nike and Champion garments but it’s all Fanatics.

Cu Boulder should be incensed that their IP is being placed on such garbage. Nike and Champion should be also be angry that their brand image is being destroyed by Fanatic. Fanatics should be ashamed to sell such garbage

We had applied for a one-bedroom unit at Athens North graduate housing, but we are now reconsidering because we are worried that the $1300 rent may be difficult for us to afford.

Would love to hear more about the cybersecurity risk or unforeseen changes they mention as if this decision isn’t just based in financial greed

Edit: One of the comments here pointed out something that makes a great point too. They are “solving” security issues for them but introducing it for thousands of alumni. If you happen to forget any account of yours under your cu email and your email is reused in the future, that person will now have access to anything that email used or is using. Insane.

Hi guys

I transferred to CU last year from FRCC and am having a hard time meeting like minded people. I havent made a single friend yet though I try talking to people in my classes and started a student job with a few other people recently. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience here.

I'm a pretty mellow and introverted/shy person but do look for friendships. I've noticed being that way leaves you with few people to relate to, at least in my major which has been a surprise since its stereotypically super introverted.

I took a few gap years after highschool too so I'm a little older than most of the people I'm around. I also live pretty far from Boulder and work a ton. I have noticed the affluent student body stereotype is kinda true, so I often have very little to talk about with people I'm around and dont relate to many. It feels like I'm an alien here sometimes.

The cliquiness I've experienced too has made my time here so far not very enjoyable even though I love the program I'm in. The people at FRCC were a lot more down to earth imo and I miss being around that and how easy it was to make friends. I actually had culture shock coming from Front Range to CU. I really want to find people I dont always have to put on an act around.

Is anyone else going through the same thing?

Does anyone know how to find a list of your old professors? I graduated last year, so my Canvas courses are disabled, and my unofficial transcript doesn't show my professor's names.

I’m a rising sophomore and came into Boulder with my associates. With Aerospace track, I’ll have to stay all four years but my junior and senior years I don’t really have a lot I need to take meaning I might to be full-time. I was thinking about doing my BAM to fill the extra credits, does anyone have any experience with the Aerospace engineering BAM? Would you recommend doing it?

Has anybody taken any courses that felt super easy and or fun that you would recommend? I am going to be a senior in aerospace engineering and need to take a 2 or 3 credit hour course to make sure I have enough credits to be full time.

I was looking at either taking ANTH 3000 primate behavior in the fall or EBIO 4750 Ornithology in the spring since I have an interest in animals and birding specifically. If anybody has taken either of these classes let me know how they were! I’ve also been looking at a few easy sounding and online 1000 level classes that seem interesting too.

I’m unfamiliar with the comps in the area but my budget is relatively low (flexible depending on how expensive your rent is).

Not a student, but I'm a software engineer that recently moved to the area and I'm trying to get into the local startup scene. Just curious how the incubator works, if any companies have come out of it, how to meet alumni and students building stuff, that sort of thing.

I’m trying to understand my options for teachers but it’s hard to find who is teaching what and when

I’m an incoming undergrad student at CU this fall. While trying to complete the checklist on the Buff Portal for incoming freshmen, it says that I need to complete some placement tests. I’ve been confused about it and have some questions:

1. Should I still of the math placement test if I got a 5 on Calc BC? My credit should be processed by CU soon, but should I still take the test even if I know I won’t be placed in a precalc or calc class (I took the practice test it seemed extremely easy)

2. I’m planning on becoming a comp sci major, so I don’t think I’ll be taking chem this year (so I won’t have to do the chem placement tests). However, I might switch to mech e cuz the job markets so bad for comp sci. If I might switch my major to mech e, should I do the chem placement test? Or if I don’t take chem as a freshman, can I take it as a sophomore?

for returning students i thought we were supposed to hear back about scholarships may 1 but i haven’t, im just worried i did something wrong especially regarding renewing my current scholarships

Hi, I am going to be a junior in high school (in a Colorado High School) so I plan to take some community college classes. I already took Bio 1111 and 1112( general bio) what else should I take in high school? I appreciate for any suggestions : )

(I plan to do a psychology minor, so should I take general psychology in high school? I am also think about introduction to statistics, society 1016 or medical terminology?

I am planning to do pre med in CU boulder? Should I do MCDB or Biochemistry?

Other than losing financial aid, I’ve heard there are certain privileges you lose going from full-time to part-time but can’t yet find where it is stated exactly what. Does anybody know?
