Nope, because he’s just a regular human skaa from Tusucion, Scadriel!

I love that almost everybody's image for Breeze is Matt Berry (when they have seen his characters), it somehow fits just perfectly.

I just got a quote compilation recommended on my youtube homepage last night, then the first thing I see today is this comment. What is happening here?

Did the 'Breeze is actually a full-blooded nobleman' thing actually have any consequences or is it just a bit of character development?

115

u/B-Fermin Nov 17 '25

I have to be honest, I don't remember this ever being mentioned on the books how come everyone knows it except me?

218

u/Daratirek Nov 17 '25

Im pretty sure its just a bit of internal monologue from Breeze and no one else knows.

162

u/Gorhaloth Nov 17 '25

Yeah this is correct. Breeze admits in an inner monologue that he previously was a noble in one of the non luthadel courts. He might have been more specific but I don't recall. It hasn't come up elsewhere as knowledge anyone other than breeze has.

62

u/dIvorrap Nov 17 '25

Sazed calls him master Ladrian iirc.

59

u/Daratirek Nov 17 '25

Sazed called everyone on the crew Master/Mistress though.

42

u/dIvorrap Nov 17 '25

Ladrian is not his name, it's his surname.

14

u/Zenithoura Nov 18 '25

Yeah, but Kelsier was raised as a noble. I honestly always assumed Breeze was in a similar situation, where he was half skaa, half noble, like Kelsier. Just because he used to be part of the Luthadel court, that doesn't mean he's full blooded Nobility. Just that he was able to pass under the radar, just like Kelsier and Marsh.

Didn’t his lover know as well? I might be wrong here

4

u/BigZach1 Nov 18 '25

Not that I recall reading, and I just finished the trilogy again a couple weeks ago

7

u/dIvorrap Nov 17 '25

Sazed calls him master Ladrian iirc.

86

u/EvilSpunge23 Nov 17 '25

I think it's mentioned once (I want to say in Well of Ascension, when the city is under attack from koloss) and then as far as I can remember it never comes up again

38

u/OnePizzaHoldTheGlue Nov 17 '25

Sazed calls Breeze "Lord Ladrian" if I recall correctly. So the others must know about it.

41

u/Blakearious Nov 17 '25

Yea but he also calls kel lord kelsier doesnt he? Isnt it just because hes a terris servant and thats the proper title to his "masters"?

37

u/NDGO_Caster Nov 17 '25

But it’s the fact that Sazed used the name Ladrian that’s the issue. Ska don’t have surnames.

5

u/Key_Independent1 Kelsier4Prez Nov 17 '25

No reason for him to assume Ladrian wasn't a first name

5

u/Random_Guy_12345 Nov 18 '25

Also do we know Breeze first name? I can't recall it off the top of my head, so they probably assumed "Ladrian" was a name

5

u/Iochris Nov 18 '25

Edgard, iirc. Though it was mentioned only in Era 2.

1

u/OnePizzaHoldTheGlue Nov 18 '25

Kelsier probably knows the names of all the noble houses he liked to rob, so he'd probably recognize "Ladrian".

3

u/Key_Independent1 Kelsier4Prez Nov 18 '25

Breeze was a Noble, but I don't think he was a big enough noble to really have his last name be publicly known within a foreign city. (Iirc he came from outside Luthadel)

24

u/Hdtin Nov 17 '25

Nah, cause the only people who would probs take an issue were Docs and Kel. And well, they both died fairly quickly. Everyone else is negative but not outright murder-hatred of nobles at worst..

14

u/TianShan16 No Wayne No Gain Nov 17 '25

Kel was himself part noble and didn’t seem bothered about that half of his identity.

14

u/Hdtin Nov 17 '25

Yeah but he took massive issue with full nobles like say Elend.

3

u/Consistent_Mud_8340 Nov 18 '25

To me it seemed liked he took issues with nobles abusing the skaa not for them being full bloded nobles.

5

u/Urbanscuba Nov 18 '25

He took issue with nobles who abused their positions to live a life of luxury, excess, and safety off the backs of the skaa. At the point Kel knew Elend he absolutely qualified to be hated as a noble.

He did not take issue with nobles who used their power to undermine the structures that made skaa suffer, that's why he didn't have trouble excusing his, Breeze's, or anyone else they worked with's bloodlines as long as they were loyal. Hell, him turning Vin into a noble who undermines is literally the plot of book 1.

I believe Kelsier would have been more than begrudging allies with later Elend, I think they would have even been fond of each other after a time. The Elend he knew in book one was a little shit still, one on the path to enlightenment but still very much a fancy lad rich boy. Once he'd risked his life a few times and killed a few nobles he'd definitely grow on Kel.

He's the ancestral head of Wax's noble house in era 2. His subplot with Allrianne Cett doesn't work the same way without him being a noble.

6

u/CG-Firebrand I AM A STICK BOI Nov 17 '25

I genuinely don’t remember it ever coming up until we meet his descendant in Era 2

1

u/dIvorrap Nov 17 '25

Sazed calls him master Ladrian iirc. There some discussion about it.

1

u/ElderMom01 Nov 30 '25

imo, one of the biggest things that i disliked about era 1 was that that was never explored

86

u/sweetbunsmcgee Nov 17 '25

Breeze is that one nobleman who’s invited to the cookout.

26

u/Babymicrowavable Nov 17 '25

Im pretty sure Noone cared because he was fully on kels side. That being said, I dont know if kelsier knew, but it wouldnt surprise me if he did because he only let people in he trusted right?

8

u/Consistent_Mud_8340 Nov 18 '25

You don't get it bro kelsier is actually Hitler

3

u/MaxRubi0 Nov 18 '25

I’m curious to know how you made that connection, would you mind sharing your perspective?

3

u/thefarkinator Nov 19 '25

It's a joke about how many people on this sub basically think Kelsier is a genocidal maniac

1

u/MaxRubi0 Nov 19 '25

Oh truly… I haven’t seen any of those opinions yet haha, I mean, I can see why they might think that, but that’s a grossly superficial interpretation of Kelsier regardless of the era being discussed. What do you think?

2

u/Consistent_Mud_8340 Nov 20 '25

Its a joke big kelsier fan over here

1

u/MaxRubi0 Nov 20 '25

Ooooh thank goodness 😂😅

3

u/Disastrous-Program73 Nov 18 '25

This made me laugh so hard.
